Impulse's relationship with Jimmy is a bit interesting because I think it's very heavily shaped by the fact that he met and primarily interacts with Jimmy through Grian. He treats him like he feels guilty for Grian and is trying to get the kids to play nicer.
And Grian is affectionately mean to a lot of people but Impulse also knows those people personally, as well as the fact that they can dish it back. The meaner people, especially Grian, are to Jimmy, the harder he plays preschool teacher between them.
It's hard to word right but I think back primarily to the southlanders and how he went easy on Jimmy, generally seemed a bit uncomfortable going all in on him, unlike Mumbo- another person who didn't know Jimmy all that well but himself described how fun it was to make Jimmy get all huffy.
How, along with the rest of TIES, he was generally much nicer to Jimmy than the rest of the badboys. And during that one video where he, Joel, and Grian made challenges for each other, he specifically forced them to say nice things about Jimmy. Joel did the same challenge, and contrarian that he is Grian had no trouble with Joels specifically because Joel would be more annoyed by that. In Impulse's video, though, he had to put on his Dad Voice to get Grian to say something.
Impulse is generally Like That, very encouraging and trying to get everyone to get along and do their best. I think the specific way in which he knows Jimmy and Jimmy being Jimmy (generally pathetic and capable of instantly activating parental instincts with his crying) really brings it out.

Regret

Got an E-mail from a professor just now, informing the class that he read and graded our essays. It was a bit of a longer message, mainly, because he launched into somewhat of a tirade over how he felt some of the essays had been written using AI. He went into detail a bit, exlaining that he found certain essays to be very dull and uninspired and took this as a sign that it was not written by human hand.
Now, me being me, having a very low opinion on much of my writing until proven otherwise, and also having written this essays over the course of about two and a half hours the night it was due, immidiatly felt kind of adressed by this? To be absolutly clear, I did not use AI. Writing is the one skill I have invested time and energy in, I am not about to outsource it, no matter how stressed and tired I am. But I also knew I had turned in hastily written trash that may very well have been perceived as uninspired and/or boring.
So reading this, I get kinda mad because, like, I didn't use AI. I get out my phone, start a voice message to my friend and launch into a rant of my own about how the professor KNEW that I had a time issue and many deadlines at the same time, and that I ASKED him for an extention. What am I supposed to do after a weekend where I worked two 10 hour shifts and a thesis dealine one week ahead, perform miracles??? If he wants quality writing from me, he should have given me more time, so honestly, if he even dares to insinuate that I....
Anyways, while complaining, I open the document he sent back to me in a seperate E-mail. i scroll down to the very last page just to see if he made any comments regarding suspected AI use underneath the essay. There is a short note there.
I reads "A good essay"
Anyways the moral of the story is AI appaerently writes even worse than me at midnight
