I couldn’t handle it. Not any longer. The sly glances behind closed doors. The soft smiles when ever each of us enters a room. I had been on the road with Alex and the boys for two years. We’ve been friends since childhood. I was with them through it all. Through every long, grueling night. Every hung over morning, and laughter filled moment backstage.

So when I finally decided after all these years it was time to tell him how I felt, it seemed right. It seemed less scary and more exciting in a way. I had seen the way he gazed at me. It was the way I ogled at him. With care and happiness in the eyes. No matter the situation.

I walked into the large hotel room we shared for the next few days. The second I was noticed he smiles.

“Your here finally.” He grins giving me a large unexpected hug. Good, he’s in a pleasant mood.

“What’s got you so bubbly?” I question.

“I just have excellent news.” He chirps.

“Speaking of news, Alex could I speak with you for a moment.” I smile and he nods.

“Yeah sure, is everything all right?” He asks. A concerned look melting into his features. Him using his fingers to move a strand of unruly hair behind his ear.

“No yeah everything’s wonderful actually I was just-“ I begin to say, gripping his hand softly, before there is a knock at the door.

God, I wish I could forget that sound. The banging of wood bending through my ears.

He drops my hand as quick as I took it and walks excitedly to the door. He opens it and my world stops for a second. Everything slowed as that door swung open and my heart drops to my feet. A woman stood in the doorway. She was beautiful and tall, with long hair and bright eyes. A large smile played across her lips as she is greeted by Alex.

My Alex.

Before I could comprehend what was happening she leaned in and placed her lips on his. They both smile and walk deeper into the big room. He starts to introduce her. I don’t think I even registered her name in my head. The way she looked at him with such a pleased look. It made me sick. My head felt as though it could fall off.

He had a girlfriend.

They day I chose to confess he gets a girlfriend. It’s almost funny in a way. The irony of it all.

“Are you alright?” He asks not being able to hide his bright smile.

“Of course, I’m so happy for you.” I say quickly fixing my face and putting on my best happy face.

“You know, I think this calls for celebration. We need drinks. I’ll head out and get some.” I say and quickly grabbing my purse heading out the door. Before I could be called back.

As I walk down the narrow streets, in the pretty town, I let the emotions finally consume me. The bright lights being more visible in the darkened sky making my eyes blurry. The tears slowly build up causing them to sting. I shake my head in frustration, trying desperately to end the stream.

“Stop crying.” I whisper.

I had lost my love.

“Stop crying.”

And what seems like my best friend.

Cause how does one move on?

I’m not okay

Doing horrible one could say

Stalemate Pt. II

Alex Turner Masterlist

Stalemate Pt. II

You pushed through a crowd of uncomfortably sticky people, trying to make your way to the door that would lead backstage. You weren't actually planning on entering, just hoping that Alex would be hanging out near there.

But to your disappointment, all you saw there were other girls huddling around the door, hoping to catch a glimpse of the band. You knew you weren't any better than them, you were there doing the exact same thing that they were.

You poked your head around trying to see if Alex was somehow there, but he wasn't.

The festival was coming to a close and you were about ready to go home and give up on what seemed like wasted hope that you would get to talk to him.

You walked around with a sorrow face trying to look for your friends, assuming they would want to go home as well. You looked at the bar but they weren't anywhere to be found.

You continued wandering aimlessly trying to find any sign of them. By this point you would've called them but your phone had just run fresh out of battery and you mentally cursed yourself for being so careless.

You eventually figured that you'd make your way to the car, there was a chance that they would already be there waiting, hopefully not too drunk off their asses. But even if they weren't, you had the car keys and you would be able to charge your phone there and be able to communicate with them then.

Fatigue was really starting to catch up with you, all the jumping, yelling and dancing you had done tonight was taking its toll on your energy. Your pace started to become sluggish but soon you reached your car.

And to your dismay, your friends weren't there either. You sighed before reaching for your keys in your bag.

But you stopped once you opened the zipper as the sound of commotion redirected your attention. You noticed that a group had formed around a bus. You figured it was one of the other artists that performed earlier so you shrugged it off and continued to look for your keys.

That was until you heard girl shriek, making you stop your search.

"Alex! Can you sign my phone case please!?"

You immediately turned around and walked ran towards the bus. Once you arrived, you noticed Alex and the rest of the band stopping to interact with the group, taking pictures and signing various items and body parts.

You desperately tried getting to the front, hoping to catch Alex and finally introduce yourself. In the process, you angered the people around you as they also had the same motives you did and they started resisting which only made it more difficult.

You were so close, you were just mere inches away from them. But suddenly the crowd started pushing forward, almost pushing you toward the ground in the process.

One you gained stability, you noticed the band entering the van. They waved and said their final goodbyes to everyone. Alex was the last one to get in and as he waved into the crowd, his eyes caught yours.

His faced turned from shock and formed into a hopeful smile. You could see him start shift to go back down the stairs when you felt you hands grip and tug your arm.

"C'monn lets go I'm tired and I'm so sweaty." your friend whined.

"Yeah we'll go in a minute I just have to-" you returned to look at the bus and that's when you saw Alex speaking with one of his band mates. You saw him frown and slowly nod.

You opened your mouth to yell out at him, but another tug at your arm prevented you from doing so.

"What're you doing? let's go I want to take off these heels my feet are killing me." your other friend chimed in, rubbing her ankles.

"I said we'll leave soon, I just really have to talk to someone." you replied, more frustrated this time.

But once you turned once again, the doors were closed and there and neither was Alex.

The crowd started to scatter and the bus engine turned on. You just stood there distraught as your friends continued on moaning about how they were tired and wanted to leave.

Once again the familiar feeling of melancholy clouded your mind as the bus drove off.
