And I think that deep down Akutagawa can't help but be thankful, even if his current life is equally as bad. Because Gin is alive, and safe, and she'll never need to worry about going hungry again and this is all because of Dazai.

As much as Dazai broke down and abused him, he also provided a safe life for Akutagawa and the only form of family he has left.
