The second point is a lot more accurate to how it was cus The End brought a LOT of new people into the fandom (and it still is now tbh just not as often). Also, most people in the fandom who ship them still only interpret TomTord as the stupid sudden Legacy enemy dynamic. Idk what it is about most TomTord shippers neglecting Classic, cus their Classic dynamic is SO much better.

Tom and Tords Classic dynamic is great. They were such bros, and they're all great friends. Eddsworld just has wacko humor, so ofc they rough-house. Edd and Tord were still obvs besties even if they'd get into fist fights over bacon lmfao, it's just a silly lil cartoon makin' silly lil jokes so why take it so seriously. I mean, obvs if u ship the characters, don't make it outright abusive?

The third point is also defs accurate. Majority of the people in the 2016-18 fandom were in middle school too so yeah... angsty overdramatic stuff is bound to come out of it]:)

What's ironic about the Tomaord and other ships of the fandom.

Edd and Tord fought way more.

Edd basically used Tom to disarm traps

Matt became a zombie dictator basically.

Tom and Tord acted more like friends who bullied each other.

Literally every ship would be toxic but still, shipping is fun and I really don't see why people hate Tomtord the most.

exactly, i have a few theories

1) it was just really popular so people paid attention to it more than the other ships

2) people at the time didn’t really pay attention to the older episodes ?? OR somehow filtered them out and ONLY focused on Tom and Tord’s dynamic in The End since it was a major plotpoint in that episode (and a lot of this stuff came in 2016-2017 when the ship not only exploded but when a lot of new people were finding out about the show because of The End so they might not have known about the stuff with the other ships/ characters)

3) tons of people in the fandom back then were teenagers and ofc this stuff felt way more deep / serious to us at the time lol
