“I think we both know I can bite through that cloth if I want to.” Trouble’s eyes gleamed in the lantern light as he frowned defiantly. “Maybe I’ll even bite you.”

“I hoped you’d be good.”

“I still could be, if you’d only meet me halfway, big boy.”

“I have to do this.” The small glass bottle was almost invisible in the stranger’s large hands as he carefully unscrewed the cap.
