“I know y-you’re there.” Paul’s voice wavered as he clutched his hands together at this throat.
“Please don’t scream. I’m not here to hurt you.” Trouble moved onto his knees and unbelted the blindfold, lifting it off Paul’s eyes.
“You,” the human gasped softly, unable to shrink back.
“Call me Trouble.” He grinned and winked. “Do you want out of here, Paul?”
“...n-no.” Paul’s eyes were huge with fear. “W-why would I want that? I’m b-being taken care of.”
Trouble rolled his eyes. “Eff’s not here. He went out to get you food.” He set the blindfold aside. “I thought you needed to use the bathroom?”
“I can hold it.” Paul looked away, blushing. “Y-you shouldn’t be here.”
“Because I’m a liar and I could tear you to pieces?” he scoffed. “If I wanted that, you’d already be dead.” Trouble stood, grimaced, and held out a hand to Paul. “Are you coming, or not?”

New ch of Overcome is up on Ao3
“Mph.” Piers didn’t even try squirming against the tape around his wrists or ankles.
“I said he could have water, and like, a protein bar. Do you have stuff like that, Eff?” Trouble smiled and let up on the massage. “Eff, are you listening?”
“Hm.” F almost purred. He gave himself a shake and blinked. “Uh. Not sure what to do for his finger. I could try sewin’ it--”
“Oh, don’t bother. I don’t think crushed bits can heal.” Trouble bent and kissed the top of F’s head.
“Guess it’s comin’ off.”
“Mmm?!” Piers’ feet slipped in some grit on the bare floor.
“I could do it now.” Trouble smirked at Piers, then flashed him a tooth smile. “Wouldn’t take more than a little nip.”
“A clean cut is easier for cauterizin’.”
“If you say so.” He looped his arms loosely around F’s shoulders from behind and kissed his cheek. “You know more about trying to heal humans than I would. Do you think he could have some food and water before you chop him, or after?”
Piers’ sob was muffled under the tape.
“Better to feed him after, that’ll keep it from comin’ back up.”
“Sounds fine to me. Can I watch?”
“I was gonna suggest you watchin’. If you’re helpin’ out from now on, learnin’ is part of it.”
Trouble felt the other man take his hand and met F’s gaze. “Anything you want, Eff.”
“I’ll go get my tools.” F rose and headed for the door.
“Should I do anything to get him ready?”
“Leave him like that, the screamin’ won’t be as loud.”
every word out of guillermo del toro’s mouth is the most hardcore thing i’ve ever heard and he says it all so casually like he doesn’t even realize how much of a gothic visionary he is
