I think it would be so funny if the chain goes through a portal and Four is like "Oh hey, I know this place! My house is like half an hour away."

They make it to his home and they meet his grandpa, who is also four feet tall. And no one comments on it because it must be something that runs in the family. Not that weird, right?

And then some of them go into the nearby town and they discover that literally everyone is that hight and for once they're the weird ones in terms of height. Warriors and Time keep bonking their heads on the doorframes of shops because Everything is built for people who are like max 5' 2"

So it turns out Four is just an average height for his era, and he's been thinking that everyone else is freakishly tall this entire time.

He just literally never mentioned any of this to the other heroes because either he thought it was funny or he couldn’t be bothered.

Absolutely adoring how the chain seems to have assigned big brother little brother pairings for all of the minors:

Legend who is making sure Hyrule doesn’t overuse his magic and exhaust himself

Warriors who is constantly scruffing Wind to make sure he doesn’t do something stupid

And Twilight who is trying to stop Wild from yeeting himself off the nearest cliff and failing miserably

Peak sibling behavior

Warriors abruptly choking on his milk broke everyone's conversation. If asked, Legend would never admit that his first thought was 'Time is going to be mad about the waste of milk.'

Twilight smacked Warriors's back so hard that he was probably hurting both his hand and Warriors's back, considering how bony the Captain was. Wind was fussing and pretending like he wasn't. Time was fussing and pretending like he wasn't, but at least he was doing a better job than Wind. Everyone else stood back and waited to see if their aid was need. Legend thought they were also avoiding Twilight's smacking hand. He knew HE was.

Warriors was still wheezing when he finally caught his breath enough to wave Twilight off. Milk dribbled on his chin, but Warriors didn't seem to notice or care. In Legend's head, that was a bigger sign of something wrong than Warriors choking on milk.

Time, Twilight, and Wind hovered like Warriors was going to keel over, the mother cuccos. Warriors absently waved them off, at last wiped his chin. He stared at Legend, and confused, Legend stared back. What the hell was he looking at?

"What?" he demanded. "If you think I'm going to get you another drink after THAT mess --"

"YOU'RE Marin's hero?" Warriors cut off.

Legend's thoughts stuttered to a halt. Everything grew quiet and faded around him. "...what?"

He had been talking about Marin to Hyrule when Warriors started choking. He didn't talk about her much. COULDN'T talk about her much. But it was a warm night and Wild had made a soup which reminded him of some of Marin's recipes, and...

"What?" Legend said again, blankly.

It had all been a dream. Marin, her soups, the smell of flowers and her hair... all just a dream. There was no way that Warriors knew her. No possible way.

"Marin," Warriors repeated. He turned to Wind and Time like he hadn't just broken Legend into pieces. "The island girl with the bell. You guys remember her, right? I ended up having to help her people find a village when Lana couldn't find her island in the timeline."

Time thought for a moment, and then snapped his fingers. "Lurelin Village, right?"

Wild perked up behind Legend. It was hard for Legend to focus on the other hero. "Lurelin? You helped found that? It's still going in my time!"

Marin was alive. She had a new village. That village was still alive in Wild's time.

"Legend?" Hyrule touched his arm. "Legend? Are you okay?"

Only then did Legend realize he was crying. He wiped at his cheeks but couldn't stop.

Marin was alive. She was okay.

He was still Marin's hero, after all.

Mask was all grown up now. Scarred and worn. A married man. He was taller than Warriors. His mischief was quieter, often hidden.

No one besides Warriors called him Mask, anymore. He was Time now. The legendary Hero of Time.

Warriors didn't care. He tucked the blanket around Time and gently rested the back of his right hand against Time's forehead. His left hand didn't feel temperature as well. Satisfied with what he felt, Warriors brushed a kiss against Time's forehead and stood up. In response, Time grumbled, sounding so like his younger self that Warriors had to smile.

"Is he okay?" Twilight asked. The other man stood in the doorway, his anxiety palpable. Warriors knew if he was in his wolf form, his ears would be flat and his tail tucked between his legs.

"He'll be fine." Warriors couldn't resist straightening the blanket around Time just a little bit more. "He will probably still be tired in the morning but his fever is already better."

Warriors turned and bit back another smile at Twilight's distressed pout. His boy's boy. "He would probably enjoy your company," Warriors continued. "Or Wolfie's company. The bed is big enough to fit, I think."

It wasn't his original plan, but it was worth it for how Twilight's face lit up. He grabbed the crystal which always reminded Warriors of Midna. A moment later, Twilight was padding toward Warriors, tail wagging. If he didn't think it would disrupt Twilight's mood, Warriors would pet him. His fur looked so soft.

"I'll be back to check on him later," Warriors added. "If anything comes up, you can find me --"

Wolfie's head snapped up. He growled lowly.

"-- in my room, taking a quick nap," Warriors finished. "Make sure to get some sleep yourself."

Wolfie's eyes squinted at him. Finding what he was looking for, Wolfie huffed at him and rested his head on the pillow beside Time's.

Warriors stopped in the doorway and stared at the pair. His boy, still a little flushed with fever but still looking so peaceful in sleep. Wolfie stretched out beside him, the oblivious symbol that Time made himself a family, that Warriors' boy had found the future he sought.

Smiling to himself, Warriors quietly closed the door behind him.
