She prefer to be called yandere instead of her real name because yandere wants to try to leave her past maybe even change her whole identify but for now she sticks with changing name first and personality (after they were in the underground yandere started to feel emotions she hadn't feel before like sadness, excited, happiness, and others more, the only time she felt those things was around senpai (taro)) so she decided to try to change before it's to late

(also they were stuck in the underground when Valerie was still alive so that's why she alive)
