Welcome to GoW Week! This is a little event to bring the GoW fandom together and give us all a chance to celebrate the things we love about this franchise though different kinds of creations. It’s also the introduction to this blog, godofwarfans, which we’re building as a hub for the GoW community!

Here’s a quick rundown of how this event will work, plus some guidelines:

It’ll take place between Sunday, August 19th and Saturday, August 25th, for a total of seven days

Every day, there will be an assigned theme (see below!) to inspire creations and contributions from the fandom

The themes are only intended as a starting point- feel free to take them in your own direction!

Any kind of creation or contribution is welcome! Art, fic, screencaps, headcanons, edits, meta, or anything else you want to share

You don’t need to participate every day. Feel free to pick and choose in accordance with the themes that inspire you.

If you do want to participate, please reblog this post to spread the word!

Tag your creations with #gowweek so we can find them and reblog them!

Be nice to each other, and most importantly- have fun!

Daily themes:

Sunday: Kratos. Our favourite angry dad.

Monday: Creatures & enemies. Anything to do with the various creatures encountered throughout the games! This can include different gods or other enemies, too.

Tuesday: Memories of Mother. We might not know much about Faye, but we know enough to love her and put her into our creations.

Wednesday: The nine realms. Midgard isn’t the only setting of the new game, and the other eight all have something unique to offer. 

Thursday: Atreus. The best boy of them all.

Friday: The past & the future. There’s a lot of playing with the concept of time in Greek and Norse mythology, and it’s always fun to take a look into the past (or future!) of our favourite characters. This can also extend to previous games in the series!

Saturday: Family. A huge theme in the new game, and something that extends past Kratos and his loved ones.

A Brief Guide to the Runes and Their Meanings

ᚠ - “Fehu” (cattle): wealth and prosperity, two things no Nazi should have.

ᚢ - “Uruz” (aurochs, ox): Strength of Will, esp. in regards to resisting Nazi ideologies.

ᚦ - “Thurisaz” (giant or Thor): Danger for Nazis if they keep stealing our runes.

ᚨ - “Ansuz” (“an Æsir god”, presumably Odin): Wisdom, esp. of the fact that Odin disapproves of Nazis.

ᚱ - “Raidho” (journey on horseback, wagon): work, growth, and movement, esp. any movement that puts distance between you and a Nazi.

ᚲ - “Kaunan” (torch): enlightenment and knowledge that being a Nazi is wrong and you should stop.

ᚷ - “Gebo” (gift): the gift you give your friends of not being a Nazi.

ᚹ - “Wunjo” (joy): the joy that comes from not being a Nazi.

ᚺ - “Hagalaz” (hail): destruction, and the chaos that will enter your life if you choose to be a Nazi.

ᚾ - “Naiðiz” (need): the inherent necessity one naturally feels to not be a Nazi.

ᛁ - “Isaz” (ice): stillness, as in “still? It’s 2019 and we still have f*cking Nazis? Did Indiana Jones teach us nothing?!”

ᛃ - “Jera” (year): harvest and reward, like the reward of not being a Nazi.

ᛇ - “Eihwaz” (yew): strength and stability. Something the Nazis couldn’t keep because, you know, we beat them back in the 40s.

ᛈ - “Pertho” (unknown): the meaning of this is lost to time, much like the reason we still have Nazis is not known.

ᛉ - “Algiz” (elk): protection against Nazis and other evils.

ᛋ - “Sowilo” (sun): solace and success, things Nazis have yet to achieve.

ᛏ - “Tiwaz” (The god Tyr): Sacrifice, Victory, Honor. The Holy Trinity of Things Nazis Have Never And Will Never Have.

ᛒ - “Berkanan” (birch): new beginnings; fertility and growth, like how a person can realize that being a Nazi was bad and have a new beginning, growing away from hateful ideologies.

ᛖ - “Ehwaz” (horse): trust, faith, and companionship. The other holy trinity (see “Tiwaz”).

ᛗ - “Mannaz” (man): augmentation and support, as in “this blog does not support Nazis”.

ᛚ - “Laguz” (possibly “water”): formlessness, chaos, and the potentiality of the unknown, like how there is unknown potential in a possible future without Nazis.

ᛜ - “Ingwaz” (The god Ingwaz): fertilization, the beginning of something, the actualization if potential, like planting a seed and watching it grow into a tree that is not a Nazi.

ᛟ - “Othalan” (inheritance): heritage, tradition, family. Things that don’t give you an excuse to be a Nazi.

ᛞ - “Dagaz” (day): hope and happiness that you are not dishonoring your ancestors by being a Nazi.

[ ] - “Blank Rune”/“Odin Rune”: this was invented in the 1980s and has no historical basis. It’s a trash rune. Actually, the Nazis can have this one.
