When this conversation comes up I wonder why no one seems to think of the possibility that they could be half-sisters. Is everyone so conservative? In my real life half-siblings are not uncommon.

When the Trix have different mothers or fathers this would explain why they didn't grew up together...

Act 14 of the manga was titled “Shuuketsu Soshite Hajimari PETIT ÉTRANGER”. "Petit étranger" is French for “little stranger,” though the correct way to describe Chibiusa (as she was female) would be “petite étrangère.“ 

When the corresponding episode of Sailor Moon Crystal aired, it did have the title “Shuuketsu Soshite Hajimari - PETITE ÉTRANGÉRE -“

(The Kodansha re-release of the manga also changed the title, although it incorrectly wrote the word "étrangère” as “étrangere.”)
