i rarely ever pay attention to early access anymore, as in i do not have the time in my life. the second i see early access i keep scrolling. if i see it too often from the same person, i now make it to where i no longer see their posts. it is a rare occasion that something catches my eye enough to make me want to wait for it to be free, and the longer the wait period the quicker i am to disregard a person's posts.

i can get on tumblr and download sims 2 cc for days without hitting any kind of paywall. the audacity is at an all-time high with sims 4. people out here making builds and sims with nothing other than other people's free cc or the actual GAME'S own items and paywalling, out here paywalling holiday cc to the point where it can't even be used for the actual holiday season once it's free. and then you have EA selling crumbs at an outrageous price and still never giving us even half of the gameplay we've had in previous games, and it's all become so normalized that the vast majority of the simming universe is desensitized to being ripped off and scammed at every turn. no, waiting for that pack to go on sale isn't any better, just like waiting for that cc to be free isn't any better, because let's be honest- we're keeping up a cycle of support by feasting on scraps merrily. and if you stop demanding a meal, all you'll ever get is scraps. if we'd never gotten meals to begin with maybe it would make more sense. but this game has been out since 2000 and let's not pretend that game ep's looked like this in the past, let's not forget the massive gameplay that tied into other packs and the base game and let's not forget the outstanding quality of mods and custom creations the community has produced from the start FOR FREE.

it's gotten so out of hand and i don't support it one bit. when i tell you i will never spend a dime on anything related to this franchise again, i say it with my whole chest. the sims has been drained of its soul and charm out of pure greed. i will no longer help the game i have been passionate about for over half of my life be reduced to nothing more than someone's cash cow. there is legitimately no reason for folks to be making $10,000+ a month off of making items from this game USING ITEMS FROM THIS GAME. let me tell you, i have mad respect for those who make their own meshes or who completely alter the game with their mods, i consider that an artform no doubt, but people have been doing that for this game -and many others- for FREE- for years. because the gaming community was always meant to be just that, a community. that's why the EA tou was always that we share/distribute/modify freely. with sims 4, it's like even EA said forget the community, all for some bucks. i'm not down with that. and the crappier the practices get within a community, the crappier the game becomes. sims 4 is a shining turd of an example of that.
