Pokemon Logic: Balloons - What is your favorite example of silly Pokemon Logic?

looking thru my drafts. i had this made for someone's ask... last year i think??? but i thought it was too silly so i didnt post it. but that time has passed

Okay so I've made a few posts about it already (here) but I think I'm ready to reveal the hook of the lil racing game I've been working on for 2 weeks now:

It's going to be a roguelike.

Choose an upgrade—quickly!—after every lap (some permanent, some not), and a special kind of upgrade with unique side effects after every race (where you'll have all day to decide). Die once and the Grand Prix is over.

Some more things I want to mention but which I won't leave in the tags:

Tracks are randomly pieced together from prebuilt segments, and can also be slightly scaled at random, or mirrored. (All the base functionality for this is already implemented! I just don't have a lot of track segments to vary between yet, or more than 1 track for that matter.)

Enemy rubberbanding (and stats in general) still need a lot more tweaking, especially if I want broken shortcuts to remain engaging. Will require a lot more testing (and require a lot more of the game to be done before I start really deciding on how to tweak it probably)

There will be upgraded versions of items (so e.g. after Bomb there's a chance you'll find Bomb+. You might even find it without having the base Bomb itself). There'll also be upgrades that change the way items or boosts work!

I'm making this for the Playdate! It's written in C and runs at a solid 50fps (the gif plays slower in tumblr on my end for some reason though. might be different on mobile)

I currently have the title "Accelerogue" in mind. Still subject to change but I like the sound of it and it immediately gets everything across
