I Feel That Art Has Something To Do With The Achievement Of Stillness In The Midst Of Chaos. A Stillness

I feel that art has something to do with the achievement of stillness in the midst of chaos. A stillness which characterizes prayer, too, and the eye of the storm. I think that art has something to do with an arrest of attention in the midst of distraction.

"The light fell upon the two sad young faces that were turned mutely toward it: upon the eyes od the girl, who seemed to be looking with such anguished perplexity into the future; upon the sombre eyes of the boy, who seemed already to be looking into the past."

- Willa Cather, O Pioneers
