Cap Coz, Fouesnant, France: Cap Coz is a very slender spit, oriented from west to east, which partially closes the northern part of the bay of La Forêt, which is part of the commune of Fouesnant (Finistère) and located near Port-la-Forêt. The coastal spit of Cape Coz was, for the first time in living memory, cut in three places in December 1865 under the effect of a tidal wave. In a petition addressed in 1871 to the general councillor of the canton, the residents denounced "the carts come (...) load sand on the top of the dunes and even in the breaches. Cape Coz is thus threatened with destruction in a more or less short time, if things are allowed to take their natural course for a while." Wikipedia

Marie sans chemise, Horloge, Amiens, France: The one that all Amiens people call Marie sans chemise, is in fact officially named after a former mayor of Amiens, Louis Dewailly, who in his will of February 12, 1892, bequeathed 25,000 francs to the municipality for the construction of this clock. It was four years after the death of Louis Dewailly, on April 2, 1892, that the clock was born. It was the architect Émile Ricquier who was appointed to design the structure of the monument, while the sculptor Albert Roze was to adorn it with one of his works. The two men blamed each other for the delays. The clock was finally started on August 4, 1896..Émile Ricquier, born on 3 February 1846 in Amiens and died September 15, 1906 was a French architect. The town lies at the source of the Alzon river, at Fontaine d'Eure, from where a Roman aqueduct was built in the first century BC, to supply water to the city of Nîmes, 50 kilometres away. The most famous stretch of the aqueduct is the Pont du Gard, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which carried fresh water over splendid arches across the Gardon river. Wikipedia
