i think its really neat how you have the obvious parallel of luffy and roger with their child-like sense of adventure, but also whitebeard and ace who have more family-oriented goals (and you can really see that in ace in how he settled with the whitebeard pirates and stopped senselessly throwing himself into danger just for the hell of it, because now he had a family, and a man he respected to call his father) and i only realized this recently, but you can also trace a parallel between oden and sabo as nobles who felt suffocated in their sheltered lives and wanted above all else to see the world and break the status quo

how do i cope with this it’s almost 5am and i’m running on maybe one hour of low quality sleep and i’m supposed to process that op is entering its final saga?? in just one fucking month? it’s too soon. we all knew it was coming. even if oda didn’t say shit we can all feel the culmination of everything he’s built into their universe thus far. luffy has the strength of an emperor, both in his own physical prowess and in his fleet. he has countries across the grand line on his side. he is the single biggest threat to the peace of the world government (sorry dragon and co). we’re reaching the climax of it all and i don’t know how to feel. i’m so fucking excited, yeah, to see luffy and friends kick some ass. i wanna see what’s gonna happen now that he can shift into nika. i want to know how his health is. i want to know their bounties. i want to see everyone’s reactions and i want to see where they go next. but also final is such a heavy word. the end of decades of a universe that’s loved across the world. yes, we can always go back. yes, oda deserves his long deserved break. yes, i’m so fucking grateful that i even got to see this beautiful universe with all of its quirks and flaws. but i can’t help but despair knowing that one day, there’s not gonna be another chapter. not another development in who luffy becomes. not another silly argument between zosan or another tall tale by usopp. not another moment where they’d die to save each other. not another moment where we see people fall in love with luffy for just being the embodiment of selfless good in what he thinks is his selfish way of living. we can dream and we can imagine and we can write our own stories but the original universe will stop. i don’t know. i have a lot of feelings about this and i hope you understand.
