[ 11:04PM ] “So,” you cleared your throat, squirming uncomfortably inside the extremely small closet; you were silently reciting a thank you prayer for not being claustrophobic and possibly making the worst first impression among the students in your department—when you suddenly remembered who you were exactly with for this stupid game, thus lifting your spirits up a bit at the realization, “wide shoulders you’ve got there, no?”

Seokjin peered at you, his gaze being averted from both of your touching knees to your awaiting eyes.

One might mistake you for being the senior between you and Seokjin by how you were the one who thought it was indeed a great idea to try and break the ice. You couldn’t really be mad at him however for not doing the first move, well-versed enough that he was known as the ‘hot quiet guy’ from your college program and a sunbaenim that rarely interacted with anyone except if you approached him yourself.

He didn’t reply to your comment, but his face abruptly looked somewhat apologetic. Before you know it, he was trying to scoot to his left, attempting to make room for you as much as he could that when you realized, made you touch his knee in protest.

“No, no, you don’t need to do that,” you said breathlessly, squeezing him but letting go quickly as well. “I… I don’t mind, really. I was just—it was just a lame excuse for small talk.”

He stopped moving, a slow inhale being taken next.

You continued to shamelessly stare at him the second he turned his head away in awkwardness after halting, subtly mesmerized by features that 100% looked even better up close. You get reminded of the countless rumors you’ve been hearing from your fellow freshmen about the senior in your university—Seokjin, if it wasn’t that obvious enough—who could line up among the most handsome A-list actors in South Korea and easily fit right in.

At first, you thought that they might just be over exaggerating, or maybe this hot guy really was handsome but wasn’t your cup of tea; however seeing him earlier for the first time at the college orientation for all students and then specifically for your program, you perfectly understood why such talk was surrounding Kim Seokjin as he sat casually with seniors and juniors alike, undoubtedly standing out from the rest because of his unworldly visuals and strong aura.

Add in his black hair that was a bit longer than the average and the pair of specs he wore on an average basis too—you seriously didn’t question it anymore why everyone was regarding him with such admiration and daresay special treatment.

“Hey,” someone knocked from outside the closet door and you along with Seokjin flinched, “it’s been a minute and we’re still not hearing kissing noises from you two.” Laughter erupted afterwards in some sort of agreement.

You cringed deep inside, your hands sweating as your heartbeat picked up its pace. Out of all the students in your department that could be in this embarrassing situation, why did it have to be you?

“It’s ____, right?” Seokjin cleared his throat, his voice calm and composed.

You glanced at him, catching him still looking ahead. “Yeah. That’s, that’s me.”

“I’m Seok—”

“I know who you are.”

“Oh.” He pressed his lips together. “Of course. We introduced ourselves in front earlier.”

“Yep.”

The both of you didn’t say anything again for the following minute, just doing the best you can respectively in not making the other feel hotter than they already were because of the small space left for air. You could smell the faint scent of cologne from Seokjin’s clothes—or maybe it was his skin that naturally smelled good, a woody fragrance that you began getting more distracted by when the third minute rolled in and still neither of you were doing anything worth possibly gossiping about.

Yet you thought just being paired up by Seokjin himself for seven minutes in heaven was already worth gossiping about on its own.

“Is your eyesight bad?” you muttered for another lame attempt of a conversation upon watching him remove his glass for the meantime, wiping the area around his eyes.

He snorted and did a little smirk. “The worst.”

“That sucks.”

“I can live with it. Have been for the last 20 something years of my life.” He wore it again.

“My eyesight is pretty bad too.”

“How bad?”

“Not that much, but just to set an example, I usually need to wear glasses when I watch in the cinemas.”

“You don’t wear contacts?”

“I haven’t tried it.”

“Why?”

“I’m scared it’ll get lost somewhere in my eye socket,” you humorously confessed, unbeknownst that you were bringing a smile on Seokjin’s lips.

He pulled his knees closer to his chest, his elbow softly bumping against your thigh. “You just have to be careful with them then I’m sure it’ll be fine.”

“Do you wear contacts?”

“Only on certain occasions.”

“What certain occasions?”

Seokjin met your stare, and you were supposed to look away because of shyness overtaking your system but you instead found yourself immobile, too amazed by his good looks to move and also because the proximity of your faces was causing your mind to dysfunction.

“I don’t know. It depends on my mood.”

“Wait, so… if you felt like wearing contacts tomorrow—”

“Yeah, I’d wear them.”

“That’s… amusing,” you replied, slightly intrigued at his answer, slightly intrigued with how you managed to get the infamously quiet Seokjin to share this funny yet informative discussion with you as well.

“Sorry, by the way,” he added sheepishly, “for, uh, for having to do this. Getting in a closet with a stranger isn’t a good thing to start your first day as a college student.”

“It’s alright.” You smiled down at your folded hands on your lap. “I’m glad that, that, that—uh, it’s with you, to be honest.”

He waited for you to carry on, gazing at you from the side curiously.

“Well, actually, it’s more like now that we had a sort of talk—that’s when I was glad. You’re not that intimidating after all.”

He chuckled. “I guess, I do have quite a reputation of being a snob, don’t I?”

“Kind of,” you admitted. “But since we’re here right now, I’m thinking that maybe you’re just introverted.”

Seokjin smiled and nodded. “I am. And since you mentioned it, you feel like an extroverted person in contrast, ____.”

The manner in which he spoke your name gave you butterflies.

“Two minutes left guys!” Someone updated, effectively ruining that short moment, your attentions shifting towards the closet door at voice.

“Two minutes left,” you nonetheless repeated with a relieved sigh. “Finally.”

He let out a pleased exhale too, the back of his head bumping lightly behind him on the wood.

Those last two minutes passed by way quicker than you calculated in your head; you and him didn’t open a new topic to talk about, both of your impatience getting the best of you as you and Seokjin just really wished you could get out sooner. When another senior of yours—the person who was guarding the closet door—at last pried it open and let you and Seokjin go, you immediately breathe in a new set of fresh air, the hotness you’ve been experiencing all over you because of the humidity of the closet getting cooled down.

Just as you were about to push yourself up from your uncomfortable position on the closet floor, Seokjin’s figure appeared in your line of vision, both of his palms presented to you.

You took them without a hint of hesitation.

“Looks like something did happen inside, huh?” Junghwan, the mentioned senior, teased while Seokjin helped you get up.

You blushed, your eyes not daring to look at the numerous faces in the crowd who you were sure were all entertained by what they assumed happened. God, just the thought of what kind of rumors or stories would now circulate about not only Seokjin, but you too, because of this given instance was causing your head to ache already.

Seokjin gently let go of your hands and you focused your eyes on him, smiling and murmuring your words out. “Thanks.”

He pushed his glasses properly on the bridge of his nose, that familiar smirk on his mouth once more showcased on his plump lips, and before he walked away to return to his place and let you be, he told you a simple sentence that would be the reason why you would have the fattest crush on him from that moment on.

“I’ll see you around campus, extrovert,” he said, smirk widening at the last minute.

You felt like your knees were going to surrender and you were going to humiliate further in front of the whole department.

Could that be considered as Kim Seokjin flirting with you?

I just couldn’t respond to asks related to fic-rec-quests because oh well, I couldn’t really answer yet since it takes time to curate a list and time is something I do not have enough of (lately). Sometimes I log them in the pinned post (pending fic recs requests) but even this I couldn’t maintain for weeks now.

How did you get started with writing? I've always wanted to try but it's a bit intimidating. Do you have any advice for beginners?

Hi, love! Oh my gosh, I have been there. Frankly, it’s still intimidating😅 But! I’ll try my best to offer some advice that has worked for me💛

Note: if these don’t work for you, pls don’t stress🤍 As with any artistic medium, there’s no one-way ticket to success. Find your own style/what works for you, but use anything here as a guide/starting point.

1) The hardest part is starting. This is just a pretty general statement, but it’s true. You can think about writing all day, but in order to actually get into it, you gotta transfer those words and ideas from your brain onto paper—journals, Notes app on your phone, Google docs, anything. Once you start putting those ideas down, it gets easier and easier to keep going! My first story started as bullet points on my Notes app that I then transformed in Google Docs.

2) For now, don’t worry about making things perfect. Drafts are exactly that: drafts of works. Unedited, pure, raw forms of what you have in your head. So just write at your leisure and don’t stress about editing them until you’re close to posting. And even then: it’s okay if there are some errors! Fanfiction (if that’s what you’re wanting to write) is free so if you don’t care about your work being perfect, it doesn’t have to be!

3) Write because it’s fun / Write what makes you happy. The thing that kept me from writing the longest (after a years long hiatus) was the pressure of wondering if people would like what I wrote. Don’t be like me. Learn from me. If you just write what you want/what makes you happy first, I promise it releases so much pressure from your mental and allows you more creative space and freedom. And if you wanna write for fandoms, being yourself is even better. You will find similar creatives and foster your corner of the internet once you start getting your stuff out there in the world.

4) Read, read, read. I learned so much about writing from reading. Whether it’s poetry, fanfiction, fiction, or non-fiction, you’ll start to find styles that resonate with you and observe how people tinker with the language you want to write in!

5) Practice, practice, practice! One, this gets your juices flowing, and two, a whole story can sprout from a single sentence out of a writing exercise. Some things to look for here would be writing prompt lists (there’s a bunch if you search on tumblr/online!), random idea generators, or even writing challenges.

6) Not everything you write has to be posted / It’s okay to accept the fact that some ideas will just stay ideas. Once you start writing, I assure you that you will come up with ideas more than once per day (especially in the shower???) Write them down and follow the inspiration, of course, but don’t feel down if you lose spark for them down the road. I can tell you right now (because I recently checked) that I’ve posted 158,225 words, but have 261,880 words written in total with works still in progress/ideas that may never even make it out of draft format (and I’m a slow writer!!) It’s totally okay. You can always come back to them. And that brings me to my last piece of advice…

7) Write things down. Oh my gosh, I cannot stress this enough: if you have an idea, write it down!! A line of dialogue you wanna work around? Notate it. A whole scene or even a title? Please, put it down somewhere. Even if you have to write it on a napkin, do it and take the dang thing with you! Trust me, I tried the whole “I’ll remember it later” lie, and what happened? I regretted it because, of course, I did not remember it later lol. Better safe than sorry.

hi! unfortunately, i don’t have much time to read as i wish i did, so i don’t really follow tags :( i just find new fics just by following some networks and some really great rec blogs run by other readers or authors! i follow a bunch of different ones, so there’s always quality content on my dash (whether or not i get to read them is a different story 😂). i’ll use the opportunity to give a shout out a few that i love!! 💕
