I saw it in a vision once. Scaldingly hot, dry and dusty in the summer, grey and cloudy in the winter. Throughout the year, occasionally interrupted by the occasional rainstorm or burst of fog drifting in from the now distant sea. The buildings are grand and beautiful, but they are almost all now abandoned, and the ornate stone carvings on the façades are chipping away. The town centre is paved with uneven cobblestones, while the pale concrete pavement on the outskirts of town is covered in old chewing gum and bird droppings. Occasionally there is a dead tree, with even deader leaves blowing about in the almost perennial strong winds, which do nothing to cool down the blazing summer sun. Mice can often be seen scurrying along the gutters or raiding the cupboards of the few remaining buildings. Everything smells of a mix of smoke, petrol and the indescribable, sinister Earthy scent of the Clusterous Forest, which is visible from nearly everywhere and looms ominously over the town. It’s in a kind of horseshoe shape, with the Sallis mansion and the lighthouse being at the ends. For specific buildings: the library is a cluttered Dark Academia paradise, Hungry’s has a very vintage, 50s feel, and Black Cat Coffee is decorated in a somewhat industrial style.
