I Think One Of The Things That Interests Me The Most About Ted X Rebecca Is How It Feels Like A Pillar

I think one of the things that interests me the most about Ted x Rebecca is how it feels like a pillar of the show...that is completely in conflict with another pillar of the show.

The show had laid the groundwork for Ted x Rebecca in really subtle and incredible ways. They give these characters parallel experiences: divorce, isolation, September 13, 1991. They pulled the bantr red herring which there would be no reason to do if they weren't building a romantic tension there eventually. These two and their relationship is absolutely a pillar of the show—Jason has even said the show is built around them and didn't really come together until they had a handle on Rebecca's character.

But Ted's separation from Henry is also a pillar of the show. It hasn't been fully dealt with yet, but it's building and triggering panic attacks. Ted's first attack comes when he is in the process of finalizing his divorce and hearing 'Let It Go' (both important for what was happening and that it is a children's song). During his second attack we hear Henry's voice as well as Jamie's father's. And we see Henry's photo directly before the 3rd attack, as well as see flashes of him during it.

So they have set up these two HUGE aspects of the show and...I do not know how they go together. At all. With most things this show has set up (Nate's arc, the Roy/Keeley relationship, Trent's next move, the team's performance etc.) I feel like I have a pretty good idea of where it is gonna go. But I simply have no clue how you deal with Ted and Rebecca clearly being tied to each other and Ted needing to be with his son. I think that's what makes it so exciting to me. Both of these stories are building to something but WHAT! Mr. Sudeikis lmk!
