produce 101/idol au hcs
these r really rudimentary thoughts so . do what u will with them

rin does Not give a fuck about fanservice. he’s the type of edgy contestant that stares at the camera and goes “watch me,” and his fans eat that shit up.
producers will be BEGGING this boy to smile and do some finger hearts at the camera, and he grimaces instead saying smth like “why do i need cheap tricks to show my skill as an entertainer?” MF UR ON AN IDOL SURVIVAL SHOW
otoya, on the other hand, lives to suck up to his fans. always stops in the middle of going from place to place to sign people’s banners, phones, fans, etc… it takes him forever to get from one place to another because of that
he also strikes me as the kind of guy who has all the tea abt everyone in the idol industry?? if u ever upset him, you better pray that otoya doesn’t call up blue lock’s version of dispatch the moment he gets a second alone. bllk! dispatch wld be out of business if it wasnt for him feeding them crumbs of idol drama 💀
Keep reading

They never actually show him taking his pants off when he subs in so I’m just assuming it’s a tear off kind of situation

BLUE LOCK CHILDREN
(featuring their squishable cheeks)
4S Blue Lock Ego Classification v2

@mathematical-apprentice left some insightful suggestions on v1, and I’ve been pondering over them to see how I can improve the classification system. Although I think their idea for a major class and sub class is good, I decided to keep all the classes on the same level for the sake of simplicity. @mathematical-apprentice has also pointed out that the Striver and Supporter classes are too broad, and I think this was just because I didn’t define them well. What v2 will include, then, is better definitions on the different categories to make them more specific, limiting their scope. Additionally, I will be changing the name of Striver to Savant because I think it better captures the idea I have for that class. More examples for each class will also be included.
Moreover, I would just like to clarify that this system is meant to classify character egos based on what a character desires and what would bring them fulfillment (i.e. what would boost their ego). It does not refer to how a character plays.
Lastly, all characters strive to improve in one way or another, but how they measure their improvement varies. This is also partly why I decided to rename the Striver class because it sounded like they’re the only class who cares about self-improvement when that isn’t the case at all.

Strategist
A Strategist is fueled by the desire for success through careful planning and problem-solving. They find fulfillment in being in control of the situation and having others revolve around their vision. They may have metavision, but it is not a precursor to be assigned to this class. (Metavision is a tool that any character of any class can use; it is simply a means to an end.)
Characters with this ego: Isagi, Hiori, and Snuffy

(Too lazy to find a panel for Snuffy, but I don’t think I need to prove this. You get it.)
Isagi is the very obvious example of this for reasons I don’t have to explain.
Then as mentioned in v1, Hiori is so close to falling under the Supporter class because of how he desires to “produce the world’s best striker.” However, I opted to put him under the Strategist class because he is not bound to any one striker, nor is he supporting anyone for the mere sake of seeing them succeed. And in a way, Hiori is a lot like his parents.

Savant
A Savant is fueled by the desire to win through their weapon (or personal style, in the absence of a clearly-defined weapon), as they greatly think of it as a part of their identity and not just a tool that can help them win. They focus a lot on sharpening their weapon and may follow a training regimen that targets its enhancement.
Characters with this ego: Bachira, Chigiri, Yukimiya, Kaiser, Lavinho, and Chris

(Once again too lazy to find relevant panels for the coaches…)
Bachira’s and Chigiri’s developments in the NEL arc centered on them improving their weapons and making a name for themselves based on it (i.e. Ginga x Monster or just Monster, and Red 44)
Yukimiya’s Sword Screw (alt. tl, “Sword Pierce”) shot is a direct improvement of his previously blocked shot, but it didn’t come out of nowhere. He took inspiration from Chris’ shot, understood it, then made it his own. This shot is also an assertion of what he believes in, the “sword” piercing through his fate (“I won’t hand my fate or my ego over to god!” –c202)
In v1, Kaiser was tentatively put under the Strategist class, as it wasn’t clear yet in the manga what his ego type should be. But after c266, it is now apparent that Kaiser is a Savant. His magnus shot was something he thought of and carefully crafted, and him executing it was an assertion of his identity, a callback to the young!Michael Kaiser. (Heck, his own weapon is even called Kaiser Impact.)

Saboteur
A Saboteur is driven by the desire to destroy and disrupt, as it is a way for them to mark their presence in the world. They find fulfillment in undermining their enemies’ plans and obliterating their efforts.
Characters with this ego: Aiku, Niko, Lorenzo, Sae, Rin, and Barou

Niko, Sae, and Rin all have metavision, so it can be easy to confuse them as Strategists. But as aforementioned metavision is just a tool, and these three have decided to use it as a means for destruction.
To better understand the difference between Strategist and Saboteur, just look at the Isagi-Yukimiya winning goal in the match against Manshine City. This play shows how Isagi is a strategist through and through, as he found pleasure in defeating Kaiser not through direct destruction but by outwitting him.
You may also wonder why I put Rin under Saboteur and not Strategist. This is because Saboteur is his true ego. Right now, he’s acting like a Strategist, still obsessed with planning and calculating, but that’s not where his true strength lies. Sae knows this, so he keeps provoking Rin in order to bring out his Saboteur ego. And to be a Saboteur, you must have someone you want to destroy. In the beginning, Sae used himself as a target for Rin, but after Rin defeated him in a 1v1 during the U20 match, he then shifts the target to Isagi so Rin can still have the drive to destroy.
Now, for Barou, I previously put him under the Striver/Savant class, but after @mathematical-apprentice pointed out that they should be a Saboteur instead, I realized that they were right. Barou’s new weapon is even called predator eye, and he’s obsessed with hunting/killing.

Supporter
The class that nobody should hate because Supporters have done nothing wrong ever.
A Supporter is fueled by the desire to see their partner succeed. They find fulfillment in providing valuable assistance and thrive on the positive impact they have on their partner. Their development thus revolve around how they can become more useful to their partner.
Characters with this ego: Ness, Nanase, and Kurona

With ego often interpreted to be equivalent to selfishness, it can be easy to dismiss Supporters as having no backbones or in need of a development arc to evolve into a typical bluelocker who’s strong and independent. But I believe that there’s also strength and beauty in being content with oneself and seeking instead to serve others. Not everybody has to want to be a star.
Besides, without Supporters, a lot of strikers won’t be able to do much. (Especially you, Isagi!)

Kunigami gets me. (And idk what class Kunigami should belong to, but for sure he’s no Supporter.)

Characters I’m not sure how to classify...
Nagi - Although Nagi is in football because of his shared dream with Reo, I don’t think he’s actually a Supporter. I think he should either be a Savant or a Saboteur.
Reo - Most likely a Supporter, with how obsessed he is in seeing Nagi succeed. But I’m gonna have to see how the MC vs Barcha match plays out to decide for sure. He may also be a Strategist.
Kiyora - He needs more screentime coz I honestly can’t tell. But I think he’s either a Supporter or a Saboteur
Kunigami - Savant/Supporter before his emo era. I don’t know what’s up with him right now, but I’m leaning into Kunigami being a Saboteur post-development (if he ever gets one coz he’s been cooking for too long now…)
Hmm… I should make a uquiz of this sometime...
But for now, take this and go!
I need a fic about lego nerd Rin, lego is hella therapeutic 🛐
I want to expand on this and so here is— ✨
MY HEADCANON ON THIS AU!!!
Sae bought Rin's first ever lego set by himself with his own money. It was an impulse purchase, it's not even a significant date like Rin's birthday or for any kind of celebration, Sae just wanted to give Rin something different for once and he thought that Lego would be just perfect for Rin. He didn't expect Rin to be attached to it so quickly, but he's happy for Rin so he keeps buying him more and more until their bedroom is filled with lego and Rin had to convince him to stop buying more because they ran out of space and Sae could barely put his toys anywhere and Rin can deconstruct and reconstruct his toy as much as he can with Lego so please you don't need to waste your money nii-chan you can use it for yourself!
Rin's ideology and perception of self is forever changed. But his brother issue still prevails because Sae left him and came back so differently he doesn't fit into Rin's life anymore. Sae was the most important piece in Rin's world, Sae was all about rationality, calculation and efficiency—he was what Rin based his perception on. Sae was the most natural thing to understand and rely on. But nothing about the current Sae makes sense to him, he doesn't click like he always did, he was so different and Rin doesn't know how to react. Sae abandoned his dream—he abandoned Rin.
In a desperate attempt to keep Sae with him, Rin was forced to destroy and put himself back together again and again and again to fit the current Itoshi Sae in his life, yet no matter what he did, how much of himself he changes, or what shape he assumed, his brother never stayed. He doesn't fit anywhere in Rin's world. Because Sae is his rationality, it doesn't make sense for Rin that Sae doesn't make sense. Does that mean Rin is the one irrational here? What did he do wrong? Sae can't be irrational, wouldn't it make more sense that the world itself is irrational???
And so instead of thinking that Sae actually doesn't make sense (blaming and wanting to crush Sae, as per canon), Rin thinks that Rin himself is the one at wrong for not being able to make sense of Sae, he blames the world for making him irrational. It drives him to break over and over, and rebuild himself piece by piece. In the process, he makes himself more irrational. His anger doesn't show outwardly but rather inwardly—it doesn't explode like in canon yet it hurts him all the same.
Meanwhile Sae is a guy who doesn't know how to communicate himself through words well. He knows deep down that Rin's current state of madness was his fault, but he is at a loss as to how he could help Rin—because the current Rin doesn't make sense to Sae either. Their perceptions of each other are so disconnected and utterly unaligned. And as long as they don't talk for real, this cycle will never get broken and neither of them will get better.
Lego AU Rin understands himself perfectly. He can make distinct versions of himself by stacking pieces of himself differently. Each time it makes him think and act a tad stranger than the last which results in unpredictable decision making.
Isagi hates Rin's play style to the bone because every time he plays with or against Rin it feels like different guys altogether.
This Rin is more honest with his expression and body language, he doesn't have anything against people, his problem is with himself. He is rather sociable if a bit inept and territorial. Rin is insanely self critical. He is willing to sacrifice a lot for people he cares about.
Rin is trying so hard to fit his irrational self on this completely irrational world where the only thing that (should) make sense to him is Sae. This world is maddening and Rin is looking for something or someone who can anchor him even a fraction of what Sae had been. One that makes sense. One that doesn't drive him insane.
+Bonus! (Beware of fun and feels~)
Rin brought several sets of lego with him to Blue Lock at the beginning of NEL, he was itching to get his hands on something to fiddle with when he's got downtime. (One time he almost threatened a janitor to give him a tool kit so he could disassemble a treadmill by himself, it's very tempting.)
Rin assembles lego while doing some yoga stretch in the bedroom, he might look ridiculous while doing that but tbh he doesn't care. Rin is comfy and nobody ever told him not to do that.
His roommates Karasu and Nanase often joined him. Rin will never allow them to touch the themed set, but he let them play with the regular ones. He has so many of them and he can't use everything at once and he doesn't want it to get wasted, so he is willing to share.
Who would've known that being Itoshi Rin's mentee will involve getting tutored on how to build lego structure? Not Nanase, for sure. But he enjoys every single moment of it because Rin looks very happy when he's playing with lego.
Nanase had never touched a lego in his entire life—he lived in the countryside and these things are kinda expensive you know? So he just makes whatever shape and most of the time it is senseless, Karasu makes fun of him.
Karasu is a pro at separating the bricks, he shows off how he can detach 1x1 with his bare hand.
Somehow it becomes their little bonding exercise and their room is filled with rows upon rows of lego structure. Nanase is eager to recreate his home in lego to make Rin understand him better.
Little by little he is cementing himself as a point of rationale in Rin's nonsensical world. Rin doesn't know if it was good or bad but he still keeps that piece of Nanase in his mind, not allowing it to slot in the construct called "Itoshi Rin" just yet. Nanase is simply that simple to understand and just as easy to love.
One particular morning Nanase didn't notice a lego brick was stuck on his sleeves, it dropped to the ground on his way to the canteen and a barefooted Shidou stepped on it. Cue loud expletives from the pink cockroach who swear to hell and back he will find out who brought lego into Blue Lock and make them run on it.
That threat doesn't really work for Rin because he grew up stepping on lego it doesn't feel like anything in particular. Though Karasu and Nanase are careful not to let anybody but themselves and the faculty staff have a look inside their lego filled dorm room, they dreaded the day they have to move out of that room.
Karasu started to prank people to step on lego bricks and willingly spread the chaos to the other strata by giving Otoya and Hiori some lego pieces, they might rope Aiku into this. They're thinking twice about Manshine cuz Chigiri might step on it and get shooketh he hurts his leg which Ego will (maybe) chastise them for sabotaging an enemy and also anyway they don't know who they're going to reach out for in Manshine.
They unanimously threw MC under suspicion of being the culprit of this prank cuz none of their players stepped on lego lmaooo
If you reach this far, thanks for reading this long rambling.
I love you~~💚
You know what toys would’ve been perfect for little Rin?
Legos
They’re literally made to be put together and destroyed

Kaneshiro and Nomura thinking they’re sly with switching Kaiser’s and Isagi’s shorts

Just say they’re fucking

My antics at 2am consist of either: 1.) I sleep, 2.) I sleep, or 3.) I make random art from screenshots I have in my camera roll
Rejected first version that I changed the expression of last second:

Bachira: So... You sure are spending a lot of time with that German boy lately.
Isagi: Bachira, it's not what you think, I swear!
Bachira: Oh really? So there’s no reason for me to be jealous?
Isagi: No, you’re the only one for me.
Bachira: Is that so?
Isagi: I promise! Kaiser and I are just dating, okay? He's my boyfriend!
Bachira: So there’s no best friend feelings involved?
Isagi: You are still my one and only best friend! He's just someone I love to hate to love in my life, nothing more! Heck, I don't even consider him a friend.
Bachira: But I'm still your best platonic buddy, right? No one else?
Isagi: Of course. You are my one and only, the bestest-best, platonic buddy I have.
Bachira, nose up to the sky: *sniff* Good.
Ness, a little bit away from them: .......what did I.... just witness?
I Know You (itrin1) Itoshi Rin x Kiyora Jin
"Itoshi Rin is a terrifying figure to the other Blue Lockers, except for Kiyora, who knows him already. Itoshi Rin, itrin1@email .com, 4102 unused store points. A horror buff who came into Jin's work nearly everyday to rent a new movie."
no warnings, this was also posted on AO3! Leave some kudos here!

Kiyora had arrived early, a habit he had accidentally developed thanks to his older brother. Normally he was thankful for it but right now it was a little embarrassing. Sitting in a room staring at a silver eyed teen as he periodically shuffled and organized a set of cards. Something about it was extremely embarrassing. Jin almost audibly sighed when he heard the mechanical whirl of the automatic door- another player.
If the indication of another player relieved him to the point of sighing, realizing who the other player was, was enough to make him suck his breath right back in. He knew this guy. Itoshi Rin, itrin1@email .com, 4102 unused store points. A horror buff who came into Jin's work nearly everyday to rent a new movie.
“Returning this,” Rin had put a DVD case down on the counter, Clockwork Orange. “And renting these,” he set another 2 cases down next to it, Final Destination 1 and 2. Jin started at the cash register, running the return then clocking him for the rent, something he does so often he could probably do it in his sleep. For Rin especially, who comes in so often that Jin doesn't bother asking for his information anymore.
Rin has been coming into the store where Kiyora works for longer than he's actually worked there. A music store that doubles as a DVD rental shop, called AMITY. They sold well, had a solid circle of loyal customers, but those guys only came for the music, everyone only came for music. Kiyora wouldn't be surprised if Rin was the only reason that the owners haven't discontinued their rental service. Rin came in to rent once every other day, at least.
Jin had timed it, he'd watch one movie a day. If the two movies on the counter were anything to go by Rin wouldn't be back tomorrow, but the day after. It was routine for him, there was hardly a day where he wouldn't see rin. Despite that, Jin doesn't know if they've ever actually spoken, or at least if he's ever actually spoken. Does “returning this, renting this” count as a conversation? Probably not. Still despite their lack of words, Jins sure hes typed Rins email into the computer so often he'll remember it for the rest of time. Itd be a good password. Itrin1.
Kiyora had never seen a program like Blue Lock, and judging by how his team's first game was going, it was obvious why. With steaks so high it wasn't surprising that the players would get a bit barbaric. It was apparent to Kiyora at least that they would never make a goal like this. He’d tried to get the ball, but after a teammate “accidentally” elbowed him in the chest to get the ball, he had given up. As much as he wanted to score, he also wanted to live, and considering how quickly his teammates were willing to attempt on his life…it wasnt happening.
“Morons,” Rin's voice came from behind Kiyora, startling him in the process. “I told you to pass to me, you all are seriously pathetic.” Rin looked royally pissed off, running forward and stealing the ball from the group of teenage monkeys with ease. Like a pack of wolves both the opposing team and his own charged and howled after him. In an instant, Rin dodged one, then five, then fifteen players with ease, leaving each one in shock.
Itoshi rin was the highest ranker in their stratum, and it was obvious why, both to Jin and the rest of the players on the field. Standing eye to eye with the stunned goalkeeper, Rin spoke, “Stop wasting my time.'' He turned his body to the rest of the room, and Kiyora could see the violent teal of his eyes from the other side of the field. “You all play at such a low level, its actually sad. If i played that poorly, i would just give up. You obviously have no future here.”
Kiyora was stunned, but for an entirely different reason than the rest of his peers. Of all time he had ‘known’ Rin, he had never came across as outwardly rude as he was now. He had always been relatively polite to Jin, even when he had first started and would mess up often. Rin had always been patient and quiet, a bit of stone wall, sure but so was Jin.
Jin wasn't sure if he could even judge Rin in that aspect, or at all. Jin knew he wasn't exactly a ray of sunshine, but he wasn't rude, or at least he tried not to be. Had Rin always been like this? Why was he nice to him? Could the way he treated Jin even be considered as nice?
The shock must've been all over his face, cause walking back to his side of the field, Rin froze. After a few second of shocked eye contact, his cold, blank stare gave way for a mix of shock and guilt. Rin was the first to look away, keeping his head down as he continued to his mark.
Rin made 14 goals against the other team. The rest of the team had made none. Kiyora hadn't managed to get the ball.
Kiyora wasn't usually the kind of person to wallow, but after being violently humbled earlier he felt he had the right. Poking at his veggie stir fry and watching as his shower wet hair drip onto the table, Jin thought about Rin. Since the shock faded away he felt a little dense. Who would've guessed the guy who only got horror movies, and re-rented The Shining every Friday would have been an asshole? And who would've guessed the kid who barely practiced in favor of working and dancing would have sucked compared to 300 of Japan's best youth players?
Clank! Rin dropping his plate on the table scared Jin so bad he might as well have actually fallen out of his chair. If that wasn't enough of a scare, then Rin’s next move of sitting down directly next to him would've been enough to make his skin crawl.
Something about the way Rin moved was incredibly awkward. Like he was hyper-conscious of every blink and movement of his fingers. Still, as he moved he never took his blank stare off his dinner plate. “I used my goals to get my phone back.”
…Okay? What was Jin supposed to say to that? Was that cool? That he was so rude to their team that he made even the opposing team scared to get the ball? Oh my God, Rin! You’re so cool! I wish I was a douche!
“Okay.”
Rin paused for an awkward amount of time, leaving Jin staring at him. “Do you want to watch a movie?” Rin’s eyes stayed locked on his food. Is this Rins way of trying to be friends? Is that what was happening? Admitably, Jins never had many friends. So, if that is what Rin's doing, Jin wouldn't know.
Kiyora didn't have an answer. Well, he did, it was no. Jin did Not want to watch a movie. But he’d be lying if he had said he had never wanted to know more about Rin. This was his chance, and while you shouldn't talk during movies, This could open the door to actually knowing more about Rin.
Jin awkwardly forced himself to calm down, at least visually. Is this how Rin was thinking? Was this how he forced himself to move next to jin? If it was, he hoped he didn't look as awkward as Rin had. “Okay.”
The Shining was, in Kiyoras opinion, overrated. Or at least, not as good as he had imagined it considering how often Rin had rented it from AMITYS. “So,” despite the past 2 and a half hours they had spent together, Rin still wasn't really looking at him. Baby steps. ”What’d you think?”
Kiyora thought the cafeteria was a crummy place to watch a movie. Kiyora thought if he stood up from his chair now his legs might give out due to the irreversible damage the cheap chairs had done to his ass. Kiyora thought that getting to know Rin wasn't worth never dancing or playing soccer again.
“If you have the movie on your phone, why'd you rent it so often?” That was a thought that crossed his mind the moment the movie started. Rin spent $2.25 every week for a movie he already owned? It wasn't even a special edition or super cut or even a VHS. It was the same movie Rin had installed. Why pay for a movie you already have?
For the first time since that morning on the field, Rin looked him in the eyes. Shock. A brief horror. Then, disgust. “Mind your business.” The sudden hissing in Rin's voice startled him. Honestly, more than the movie he had just watched. Jin breathed out a displeased “sorry I asked,” as he collected his tray and left rin alone.
Jin never had many friends, and while he knew this wasn't the way to do it, if Rin was still talking to him like that despite their “history” (if you could even call it that) he probably wasn't worth being friends with. That sucked, sure, but at least he didn't have to wonder what Rin was like anymore.
Dumping his tray with the rest, Jin fought himself for a second before turning around towards Rin. Itrin1 felt like a whole chapter of his life, and if this was how it ended then Jin deserved an ending shot. An end credits scene, an extended cut that The Shining didn't have.
Rin had not moved, still in the chair, back to staring at his now empty plate. He stayed unmoving for a second before slamming his fist on the table, creating a sound so loud that it scared the few people still left in the cafeteria. Rin forcefully stood, his chair flying out behind him. He wasn't much kinder to the tray and if he had grabbed it any more forcefully the plate would have surely gone flying off.
Rin left out the opposite exit, not seeing that Jin had been watching for the entirety of his outburst. Had the question upset him that much? Or was he upset at his own response to the question, realizing he had most definitely fumbled a potential friend. Maybe he realized when he got out of here he probably wouldn't be able to go back to AMITYS.
Either way, he was pissed, and Kiyora was shocked. A simple conclusion ‘I Don't Want To Be Friends With This Guy’ had caused him to potentially traumatize the rest of the cafeterias patrons. Lovely. Jin’s cursing himself for not getting close with such a well tempered individual.
Jin's lone footsteps gave him lots to think about. Rin seemed to be as socially inept as he was, and he was an incredibly good player, he would have benefited from letting Rin fumble his way into a friendship with him. As selfish as that was. Rin didn't deserve that. Probably.
Jin's hair stuck to his face with sweat. He knew it was for nothing, training this hard when you're on a team with someone like Itoshi Rin was futile to say the least. But he didn't have anything else to do, Blue Lock took everything, and Rin cornered him so he couldn't get anything back.
“I went to see you.”
Jin must've jumped a whole foot off the ground. It was almost midnight and the rest of his team was asleep, or so he had thought. . Once again avoiding eye contact, standing in his pajamas, center field was Itoshi Rin.
Jin took a moment to breathe out the sudden jumpscare, “what?”
“You asked why I would rent when I owned the movie. I went to see you.” Rin was obviously uncomfortable and if Jin had learned anything from the past few days, he looked like he was gonna burst.
Jin felt his stomach churn, “why?” There it was. Rins face contorted till it settled on a look of anger and disgust. Jin had to admit, it suited him. “Why do you ask so many questions!?”
“I spent the first 3 months of knowing you asking for your name and email,” Jin turned away, maybe Rin didn't need to explain himself to Jin. “itrin1.”
“You remembered my email?”
“I stopped asking for the reason.” Rin stopped to think, had he seriously not noticed Jin would literally not talk at all during their interactions? “Right…”
“I’m sorry,” Rin cut him off, “for not being…nice... I'm trying.” Jin could think of a million different quips and reactions, but only one made it out of his head. “I can tell.”
They stood in silence for a minute, once again Jin is painfully aware how both he and Rin are bad at conversations. “Do you want to watch a movie?” Jin broke a tight lip smile and started towards Rin, “no. I don't like movies. Let's listen to music.”
Rin looked shocked at his sudden admission but held his tongue as Jin walked past him. Rin was bad at making friends, but even though it took a sudden confession, Jin was getting better.

The Science behind Erasure
-it's actually ingenious!!
SO recently I wondered....if Aizawa does hero work after hours...does that mean he also has increased night vision?? Because it wouldn't makes sense for a hero who relies on his eyes to work at a time when he can't see....right?
(this led me on a scientific deep dive because I am a huge nerd.)
As we know, Aizawa's eyes light up (red) when he activates his quirk. It just so happens, red doesn't glare like other colors of light do. This means red light makes night vision easier. Why? Because your pupils don't need to re-adjust between the light source & the dark around you! This reduces eye strain & keeps your field of vision clear & consistent at night, while still illuminating your path!
Simultaneously, red light is difficult to see at a distance so it'll help keep your position safe from possible attackers. This is why military flash lights are usually red!
So YES!... Aizawa's quirk can improve his night vision... By acting like a red flashlight! But that's not all!

Then I started thinking of HOW his quirk works...He stares at someone, his eyes glow red, his hair floats...and somehow the enemy's power stops working??
As we know, Erasure deactivates the enemy's quirk gene. This happens when Aizawa glares at them. But HOW can he deactivate a gene by only seeing the outside of the body? Especially since Erasure doesn't erase physical mutations??
Turns out, red light has a longer wave length than other colors, allowing it to penetrate the body more easily! In fact red & Infrared light (invisible to humans) is often used in medical imaging to detect things like veins and blood vessels beneath the skin.

Simply put Aizawa's quirk penetrates the body kind of like an x-ray. The reason we can see his eyes light up, and NOT the target being illuminated( like the picture on the left below)?? It's because he likely also emits red light that crosses over into infrared spectrum. So the red light that actually enters the body is invisible to the naked eye.

However real x-rays fall on the opposite side of the light spectrum under Ultra violet light. They not only enter but pass through their target, So to be clear Aizawa probably does not have x-ray vision. You may have also heard of Infrared in terms of night vision goggles. Aizawa likely does not have thermal/night vision either. His eyes only EMIT visible red light which allows him to see better in the dark & Infrared which enters the body.
So while Aizawa's glowing red eyes may at first seem like a meaningless, but cool, feature of his quirk, it's really the tell into how erasure works!
However, glowing red eyes only tell us how aizawa's quirk REACHES the gene, not how he switches it off! So how does he do it?? With an electromagnetic field! The light spectrum is a small part of the larger electromagnetic spectrum & the only part of it visible to the human eye!

So, how do y'all know I'm not just making this up?
Because his hair floats!
What's the most familiar electromagnetic force humans encounter on a daily basis?--- STATIC ELECTRICITY! When aizawa switches on his quirk he essentially becomes a cat being rubbed with a balloon! The carbon nanofibers in his capture weapon conduct static electricity so that floats too!

Aizawa's Erasure works by emitting an electromagnetic field, which like the infrared light, penetrates the body of his target! Now that we know how his quirk reaches the inside of the body, the question is how does it disrupt the quirk function?
As it turns out, electricity can be fired at DNA to switch Genes on and off in real life! So Erasure specifically targets the quirk gene and immobilizes it temporarily with electricity!!!! That's crazy!!!
Since we know Aizawa can't erase the quirks of heteromorphic types it's safe to assume it's because physical mutations effect more than one gene & Erasure specifically targets a single quirk gene.

If Erasure got into the hands of AFO it could easily mean the end of the world, or any one who apposes AFO for that matter. Sure AFO could use Erasure as Aizawa does, but he could also scientifically manipulate it to target genes OTHER than the quirk gene. Meaning he could kill you, or even make your body fall apart, with just a look.
Congrats you made to the end! You now have a PHD is Shota Aizawa.

Too bad the prophet Cassandra never met Odysseus
mdzs and qzgs crossover idea and notes
In this world, given that lineage isn’t as important, sect heirs would be appointed and become sect leader if the sect leader dies
inner and outer disciples - trainees, guild members are outer disciples, and the actual main line-up, the pro team, are the inner disciples - inner sect disciple - or maybe make it senior disciples instead
All the “old guard” (Sect Heirs) - Ye Xiu, Han Wenqing, Lin Jie, Wei Chen, Zhang Jiale, Sun Zheping, Lin Jingyan, Huang Shaotian (but not Yu Wenzhou) - are friends, know each other from night-hunts together back before the tension got really bad - think, like jl, lsz, ljy, and ozz’s group - this is the equivalent of them knowing each other in-game, back before the glory pro alliance
ee as wen sect - Tao Xuan gets greedy for even more land and power, despite ee already being the most powerful of the great sects
Great sect (before war): ee, tyranny, blue rain, tiny herb, hundred blossoms
After war: tyranny, blue rain, tiny herb, samsara
Blue Rain would be like the Lan sect - place of knowledge, etc etc except without the million rules. Everyone thinks Huang Shaotian’s going to be appointed sect heir, that he’s Wei Chen’s intended heir, so everyone is super surprised when it’s Wenzhou instead - Everyone knew Huang Shaotian was going to be the Sect Heir. Wei Chen hadn’t actually confirmed anything or made the official announcement, but it was only a matter of time, really.
Huang Shaotian is def their generation’s best/strongest swordsman. Ywz is prob better at talismans and formations - his golden core is slightly weaker than the other sect heir/leader’s, but he more than makes up for it w/his knowledge - think wwx after being resurrected w/mxy’s weak golden core
Huang Shaotian lived on the streets like wwx before Wei Chen took him in at around age 8-ish?
Inner disciples - Yu Wenzhou (Sect Heir and eventual Leader), Huang Shaotian (Head Disciple - eventual Sect Heir, though before ywz everyone expected him to become Wei Chen’s successor), Zheng Xuan, Yu Feng, Song Xiao, (eventually) Lu Hanwen (Huang Shaotian’s adopted kid/younger brother)
Fang Shijing is Acting Sect Leader, the way Lan Qiren was, after Wei Chen dies - he’s standing in until Yu Wenzhou eventually officially takes the position
So burning of the Blue Rain/attack on Blue rain - ee comes to burn blue rain, huang shaotian tries to stop them and get a leg broken like lwj; ywz is like lxc and flees with some of their great library’s priceless books. Just like how in canon, lxc escapes and lwj is captured when the Cloud Recesses is burned, ywz flees and huang shaotian is captured? Or maybe not. Maybe EE just leaves him behind with a broken leg. huang shaotian insists on staying at Blue Rain and not fleeing with ywz, not only to (try to) protect the sect but also to cover ywz’s retreat. ee (liu hao, maybe) kills Wei Chen through underhanded means during the sacking, and hst hasn’t spoken a word since (kind of like how he is in canon after wc leaves)
So, yeah, wei chen’s dead
Hst doesn’t speak, not until he’s reunited with Yu Wenzhou again
Or, idea 2 - this is before hst respects ywz, so he’s quiet bc wc’s dead, and then he and this no-name low-ranking (but surprisingly, startlingly intelligent) blue rain disciple defeat the Xuanwu of slaughter and so starts their close bond, because there’s nothing like taking down a legendary beast together to make friends
Huang Shaotian hasn’t spoken in fourteen days. Because—
Wei Chen’s dead, and Blue Rain has been burned to the ground. He’s been sent off along with nineteen of their disciples to EE’s indoctrination. And where before he might have burned in indignation at EE’s arrogance, now, all he feels is numb. He passes the days in the haze, only vaguely aware of the EE overseeing them—some arrogant brat named Liu-something—berating him (probably wanted to recoup some pride after the utter thrashing Huang Shaotian gave EE in the Discussion Conference a couple weeks back, the small part of him not frozen in grief thinks smugly).
Wei Chen had died for him; that hit had been intended for him, and even as the blade hurtled towards him and he wanted nothing more than to wipe the smirk off Liu Hao’s face—that EE bastard—he’d known he wouldn’t be able to dodge in time, not with the broken leg hampering his movements.
He’d braced himself for the pain, but— It never came.
(The sight of Wei Chen, bloodied and dying from taking a hit meant for him will be forever burned into his mind, he thinks.)
His fellow disciples are worried, he knows, has seen them shooting him concerned looks when they think he’s not watching. Even Zheng Xuan has approached him. And he’s the head disciple, should be there to rally and reassure them now that Wei Chen and Yu Wenzhou are gone, but— Every time he tries, the words get caught in his throat/lodge in his throat and not a sound escapes.
I think Liu Hao would take Wen Chao's place - so with the Xuanwu, the whole Mianmian situation still happens only Zhang Jiale and either ywz, wjx, or szp take the place of lwj and jzx and refuse to stand aside - ee uses this as excuse to attack hundred blossoms - 'they led the rebellion/incited resistance to our sect's authority' - so zjl feels guilty, like wwx in canon, even tho it's not his fault and szp would never blame him for the destruction of hundred blossoms the way Madame yu blamed wwx
Also, in Xuanwu cave - Huang Shaotian would be like canon wwx, capitalize on opportunity to turn tides by taking Liu Hao-as-Wen Chao hostage
And then like Yu Wenzhou would show up later - he’s running, has been for a while, with the books he’s safeguarding, taken from the library so that they wouldn’t be destroyed. It’s his duty, he knows, even as he worries about Huang Shaotian. He’s heard no news of Shaotian’s condition, on whether or not he was injured, not when he’s busy evading EE. And that’s when he runs into the disciples of the other sects, fleeing the battlefield that the indoctrination has become, and his blood goes cold when he hears that Shaotian’s still in the collapsed cave. With the Xuanwu of Slaughter.
He doesn’t think. The books are entrusted to him, Blue Rain’s knowledge and heritage and they should be his first priority, but— This is Shaotian. His best friend. His partner. And there is no way he won’t go back for him.
So he does. He gives the books to Zheng Xuan, who he knows he can trust; for all that he is lazy and unmotivated, he’s still a brilliant cultivator, and as loyal as they come besides. He and Shaotian have that in common, so loyal it hurts. And then he braves EE territory. For the first time since he fled the flames and Blue Rain, Yu Wenzhou unsheathes his sword and flies. He hadn’t dared to, before, hadn’t wanted to be caught by EE when he’d had the books to protect. Too conspicuous, he’d known, too easy to spot. But walking all the way to the cave the disciples had been in, all those li, would take far too long, and he doesn’t know how much time Shaotian has. “He was hurt,” Zheng Xuan had told him, a protective frustrated worry?anger lacing his voice, “but I don’t know how badly. I didn’t get a chance to see.”
He has to believe Shaotian’s still alive. Still he flies as fast as he can, fast enough to strain his golden core, though not fast enough to deplete it completely. He’s not that far gone; he knows better than to leave himself vulnerable, in the extremely likely chance that he runs into the Wen.
He’s lucky that the sky is cloudy, a storm brewing in the distance. The cover is a boon, and miraculously, he’s not spotted. Ye Xiu’s not organizing the patrols, then, he realizes, because if the Battle God had, there’s no way he wouldn’t have been caught by now, cloud cover or no. In the corner of his mind that’s not currently preoccupied by Shaotian, he wonders what this means for Ye Xiu’s relationship with his sect. He’s not blind; he’s noticed the burgeoning tension—they all had.
Hundred Blossoms would be like the Jiang Sect - EE shows up with an army, Hundred Blossoms is razed to the ground, all of its disciples killed - only 2 survivors: Zhang Jiale and Sun Zheping - szp loses his golden core (or has it weakened bc of qi deviation induced by sx), tho, and unlike wwx, he can’t exactly hide it or make up for it - so, like his hand injury forced him to retire and no longer be a pro player, here, he can no longer be a cultivator. he disappears, bc losing a golden core is traumatizing + he’s just dead weight now and doesn’t want to drag down zjl now that they’re in the middle of a War
Zjl’s not jc, doesn’t burn and burn with hate and anger - he can’t single-handedly revive his sect - Hundred Blossoms is no longer one of the Major Cultivation Sects, are decimated by the burning. eventually zjl joins Tyranny and becomes one of Tyranny’s Four Heavenly Kings
Samsara was originally a minor sect, but they grew to prominence during the war, and would take hundred blossom’s place as a Major Sect
Bc honestly, the fact that Jiang Cheng was even able to revive his sect at all, nevermind making it remain a Great Sect, is nothing short of astounding. Sure, the war probably helped with the recruitment, but still. And anyway, zhang jiale’s not a leader the same way jiang cheng is
Zhang Jiale’s pretty much running on spite and revenge during the war, using the singular goal of taking EE down to distract himself from his grief and his feelings of abandonment from Sun Zheping leaving. And he’s damn good, earns himself a reputation and a name during the war. And he’s doing okay for a while, rebuilds Hundred Blossoms, but it’s never what it once was. All those generations of knowledge, of cultivation forms and traditions—lost. And he’s only twenty-four years old and running a sect by himself, all his friends dead or in other sects, and the only one’s left from the remnants of what Hundred Blossoms once was are Tang Hao and Zou Yuan and he can’t burden them with his troubles, they’re children, and the pressure keeps building and the burden grows ever-heavier, until the days comes where he just. Can’t do this anymore. It’s too much pressure, too much stress, and he’s never been meant to be sect leader, had always thought that he’d step down when Sun Zheping did, that they’d hand over the reins to the next Blossoms duo, and certainly not on his own—he’s always thought he’d have his partner by his side—they’d promised to always have each others backs—and he aches with the knowledge that Sun Zheping had never cared for him nearly as much as Zhang Jiale cared for him. He has a duty to his sect but—he’s too weak, it’s a burden he’s crumbling/crumpling under
zjl can use a sword, obvs, but he prefers the bow - is the best damn archer of their generation
kind of like Jin Ling, now that I think about it, and how he favors a bow but is obvs good with the sword too
Tang Hao and Zou Yuan survive the massacre, by sheer virtue of not being in the sect when it happened - though, like the Wen, EE ordered the sects not to night-hunt, even in their own territory (and so pretty much every disciple was at Hundred Blossoms when the attack came), Zou Yuan was out visiting his family and Tang Hao was sent w/him - because it’s dangerous to travel alone now, and Zhang Jiale wants them to travel in pairs, at least, to be safe - they’re actually on their way back when they hear what happened
Tang Hao is furious at Zhang Jiale (and, to a lesser extent, Sun Zheping) - not for causing the attack, the way Madame Yu blames Wei Wuxian, but for not rebuilding the sect afterwards - how could you abandon Hundred Blossoms? he wants to demand. His lips twist into a sneer. Coward. — for leaving them behind and joining Tyranny
Tyranny is like Nie sect - militaristic, have been preparing for war against ee for ages. Zhang Xinjie is like Meng Yao, the ultra-capable deputy/administrator. Only, of course, w/out the whole “bastard-child” and “backstabbing” thing. zxj is as capable as meng yao, but minus the huge ambition - he’s content to remain in tyranny under hwq
hwq as nie mingjue - both super powerful and strong - the “head general” of the war/campaign
su mucheng and ye xiu as wen ning and wen qing - only, of course, ye xiu is a powerful cultivator in his own right - battle/war god - plus, they both clearly defect early on, tired of ee’s posturing and bullshit and arrogance. this is not the sect they once knew. muqiu wouldn’t want them to stay and let ee continue to commit their atrocities
“We’re leaving, Ye-ge,” Su Mucheng says, resolute. “I know you love Excellent Era, but this is not the sect we once knew.”
She expects resistance, protest, because EE is where it all began, is what Muqiu died for, and the sect holds Ye Xiu’s loyalty fast, but—
Ye Xiu doesn’t. Dips his head, and says softly, “I know.”
They leave the sect that night.
They don’t tell Tao Xuan, because he would try to stop them. Not that he could have, not when Ye Xiu’s Head Disciple and the best cultivator in the sect, but if he set the rest of the cultivators on them, it would wear Ye Xiu down. And, neither of them want to leave with the broken and injured remains of those they were once loyal to lying behind them. There’s time to fight EE later; now, a quiet exit is infinitely preferable.
Or maybe instead, Tao Xuan still kicks out Ye Xiu - “Ye Xiu disappears in the second year of the war” - ooh, a disappearance, and then han wenqing and su mucheng look for him, just like wwx’s three-month disappearance and how lwj and jc looked
And then when they find him again, he’s cultivating differently - figure out a way to transfer the whole unspecialized/Lord Grim thing - maybe it’s sort of like wwx’s demonic cultivation?
Maybe in this world, Ye Xiu’s losing credence/respect from EE because he keeps stepping in when they act against the other sects, because Ye Xiu’s a good person — for all that he bullies people shamelessly in glory, I highly doubt he’d do the same if it meant their deaths for real - because that’s not shamelessness, that’s cruelty - ex in the Indoctrination, Liu Hao’s in charge of them, like Wen Chao, but Ye Xiu keeps popping in, and stops him from going too far (i.e. branding anyone or other permanent injury)
ee falls, ofc, but it’s still a bloody war
hwq/yx is like lwj/wwx - ye xiu def is as oblivious as wei wuxian, plus just like wangxian, hanye has that whole everyone-thinks-they’re-rivals/enemies/hate-each-other thing going on
They meet when they’re both head disciples of their respective sects, at the discussion conference hosted by Excellent Era.
Han Wenqing fights using a saber, straightforward and blunt
only, no internment camps, or if they do happen, it’s not on the orders of any of the major sect leaders
Not rlly sure how Tiny Herb fits in here, but rest assured, they aren’t as corrupt as the Jin
After the war, the EE land is given to yx, and he creates a new sect - Happy
Huang Shaotian adopts Lu Hanwen, a war orphan, after the war - kind of like how lwj takes in sizhui, except ywz would be the wwx in this scenario - minus the whole ostracization and death thing, of course. lhw adores hst and absolutely always listens to ywz
Of the juniors - lu hanwen of blue rain (as lan jingyi maybe), gao yingjie + liu xiaobie + qiao yifan - yifan as zizhen, who’s not as powerful as the others but is still damn good - plus, they’re both very sweet; gao yingjie as sizhui, very polite, so that leaves liu xiaobie as jin ling - haughty but insecure
and yeah that's it. still working on the who yuhuang and blossoms duo threads. kind of got stuck halfway, so i figured i might as well post my au notes in case i never end up posting the actual story

Plus One For All
so guys. can we talk about how there’s somebody chilling out inside of Katsuki’s mind who’s not supposed to be there.

hello there Mister All Might Vestige sir. you should not exist, just FYI. you’re not some Nighteye-type plot hallucination. because if you were, you would not be appearing here as Cloud Might, a version of yourself whom Katsuki has never met and has no frame of reference for. ergo he did not imagine you. ergo you are, in fact, real.
which means Katsuki has One For All.
because that’s the only way he could have a Vestige -- which is indisputably what this is -- inside of him. he has OFA. so. where did he get it. how does he have it. and why is it only making its presence known now.
let’s discuss.
okay so I’m going to try and lay this all out as clearly as possible while also attempting to be as succinct as I can. but knowing me, I’m probably going to wind up sacrificing the latter in pursuit of the former. I’ll do my best though. here goes.
1. Heroes Rising is canon.
which is a fact we’ve recently been reminded of not once, but twice -- first with the appearance of Katsuma and Mahoro in chapter 405, and then in chapter 406 with the “Bakugou no Kacchan” callback. the timing of this almost certainly isn’t coincidental. Horikoshi wants this to be fresh in our minds.
mind you, it is extremely unusual for movies, even technically!canon ones, to actually be relevant to the plot. but BnHA may be one of the few exceptions. we’ve already seen movie 1 impact the series both with Star & Stripe’s backstory, and with Deku’s new gauntlets. so there’s precedent, and it’s something I am paying very close attention to.
2. Deku giving OFA to Bakugou is canon.
just in case anyone here hasn’t yet seen or been spoiled for Heroes Rising, that is in fact what happens in that film! so yeah, that certainly seems like an extremely relevant detail right about now.
3. we never found out why and how Deku got OFA back at the end of the movie.
okay so I was looking for a clip to link before we discuss this next part, but I unfortunately couldn’t find one that hadn’t been edited to avoid copyright issues, so you’ll just have to make do with this.
skip ahead to about 7:10 for the relevant part. for the purposes of this theory, we’re just going to ignore everything All Might says here, because tbh he has no fucking clue what’s actually going on and is just guessing wildly lol. however, I do want you to take note of one thing which will be important later. and that’s the fact that, when OFA “returns” to Deku’s body, it’s only his body which starts glowing, and notably not Kacchan’s. the latter just keeps lying there unglowingly. nothing to indicate any kind of transfer is actually happening between him and Deku, in other words.
moving on.
4. OFA and AFO are probably the same quirk.
as summarized here and here. which is relevant because if they are the same quirk, or close to it, then OFA can most likely do anything AFO can do. so file that away for later.
5. AFO was able to split his quirk and give it to Tomura while still keeping a piece of it for himself.
what’s more, he was able to do the same with Garaki/Ujiko’s quirk, and presumably other quirks as well. while it’s possible that this quirk duplication has nothing to do with AFO and is simply something Garaki was able to figure out using ~*~Science~*~, I think it’s more likely that the two of them used AFO’s quirk in some way to accomplish this feat. particularly since Tomura not only received AFO, but a bunch of its stored up quirkdata as well, such as the information stored in Ragdoll’s stolen Search quirk.
6. OFA responds to Deku’s feelings and desires.
or at least this is the case according to Banjou in chapter 213. recall this interesting conversation on how Deku first activated Blackwhip.

he was thinking that he wanted to capture Monoma, and so OFA obediently activated his “capture Monoma” quirk. despite him being unaware he even had said quirk. it responded to his need, even though he wasn’t consciously trying to activate anything.
now then, let’s revisit that scene in Heroes Rising one more time.
7. during the climax of Heroes Rising, Deku was NOT thinking, “I need to give OFA to Kacchan.”
here’s the scene one more time for reference. this time you’re gonna want to skip to about 3:57.
here’s where we are going to get extremely technical, because this scene right here is the key to everything. Deku’s lines in this scene are, and I quote: “a way we can protect [everyone]... there’s just one way...!” but he very notably does not specify exactly what that “one way” is.
until we get to this scene a minute or so later, which spells it out for us very clearly.

two One For Alls. as in, “with two One For Alls, we could win this battle and save everyone.”
that’s what he was thinking at the moment of the “transfer.” NOT, “give OFA to Kacchan.” but, “we need two One For Alls.”
which, I think, may have made all the difference.
8. OFA created a copy of itself to share with Kacchan, so that both of them could have OFA and use the two OFAs to defeat Nine.
let’s recap. OFA is AFO. AFO can clone itself. so it stands to reason that OFA can presumably clone itself as well. and that’s exactly what Deku wanted to do. make a second One For All.
he didn’t know that he could do that. but as previously established in the Blackwhip incident, OFA is more than capable of making its own executive decisions in key moments just like this in order to help him out.
which would mean that what we saw at the end of Heroes Rising was not OFA being transferred from Bakugou back over to Deku. it was actually just Deku’s OFA briefly self-activating (possibly in response to his delirious apology to All Might -- kind of a “no worries bro, you’ve still got your quirk actually, so go back to sleep and stop stressing over it” type of thing). and Kacchan’s OFA doing... absolutely nothing. it didn’t actually transfer back into Deku. it didn’t actually go anywhere.
let me repeat that: it didn’t actually go anywhere.
in other words, Kacchan still has OFA. and has had it ever since Heroes Rising. he just didn’t realize it. and neither did anybody else.
9. Kacchan’s OFA went dormant once Nine was defeated.
okay, so. remember all of this exposition from chapter 304?

basically, if someone who already has a quirk receives OFA, using it will slowly destroy their body until it kills them. the Vestiges learned this from All Might while he was researching the past generations of OFA in chapter 241, incidentally. Heroes Rising takes place right around this same time (immediately following MVA if I recall). so by the time the film’s climax rolled around, the Vestiges would have known that giving OFA to Kacchan could have devastating consequences down the line if they did not take action immediately after the fight.
so they did.
once Nine was defeated, the Vestiges shut the whole thing down. the crisis was averted, and they no longer had need of a second OFA. they have this boy who is way too similar to Deku in terms of his willingness to put himself in harm’s way in order to achieve his goals. and they absolutely do not want any harm befalling this boy. more on that momentarily.
so they go dark. and they even seal his memory so that he’s no longer aware of even having the quirk. they are essentially in sleep mode. and if circumstances hadn’t eventually become desperate enough to force their hand, they might have remained inactive for the rest of Katsuki’s life.
now, you might be wondering to yourself, “why is OFA willing to go to such unusual lengths in order to protect Katsuki?” and well, the answer to that is pretty simple.
10. Kacchan does not have the same version of OFA as Deku.
Deku is ninth gen. Katsuki, however, is tenth gen. which means that his version of OFA has one additional Vestige. a Vestige whose presence immediately explains why OFA is so goddamn determined to protect him at all costs.

:’)
long story short, while Deku’s version of OFA has proven itself all too willing to enable him in his increasingly suicidal mission, Katsuki’s version of OFA is very much a different story, on account of it being under the management of what I’m guessing is the most willful Vestige ever to exist. and said management being just the slightest bit unhinged when it comes to Katsuki’s safety in particular. seriously, you can’t tell me this is not exactly how a Deku!Vestige would behave. “oh hell no. no OFA for you!! and no memories either, because you can’t be trusted, goddammit. we never should have done this. what the hell were we thinking. if anything happens to him I will kill everyone in this room and then myself.”
so yeah. dormant.
right up until they literally couldn’t afford to be anymore.
11. OFA can self-activate in moments of crisis to protect its user.
Sports Festival. chapter 33. Deku vs. Shinsou.

aw yeah. it’s all coming together.
12. OFA reactivated itself in order to save Katsuki’s life.
I would now like to briefly draw your attention to this scene from chapter 405, in which Edgeshot explains how Katsuki was finally saved. please note my man is very clear that he did not restart Katsuki’s heart himself. he was basically just performing quirk CPR up until Katsuki’s own quirk returned him to life apropros of nothing.

“what brought you back... was the power you’ve honed.”
except... that should have been impossible. because Katsuki was dead. meaning he should not have been able to activate his quirk on his own, on account of the whole “being dead” thing.
however, if he by chance had a quirk with just enough of a mind of its own to activate in critical situations in order to help its user. situations like being forced under mind control. or, perhaps, being stabbed through the heart. well then. that would certainly go a long way towards explaining all of this.
and oh hey, when exactly was it that we saw this guy, again?

oh? it happened at the exact moment when his heart was stabbed through? you don’t say. well that certainly is interesting.
in summary:
Deku cloned his quirk in Heroes Rising and gave Kacchan a copy of OFA. owing to the hyperprotective Deku!Vestige inside Kacchan’s copy of OFA, it shut itself down once Nine was defeated, and all of Katsuki’s memories of having OFA were deliberately wiped, or sealed away. OFA itself remained inactive until TomurAFO stabbed Katsuki through the heart, at which point OFA was forced to reactivate itself to save his life. which it did, by forcibly restarting his heart.
that’s it. no idea how close to the money any of this is, but I think it would explain most of the lingering mysteries and questions about what exactly is going on with Katsuki. and I’ll throw in one last observation as well -- Katsuki has a nine in his name (BaKUgou), but not a ten. which I know sort of contradicts what I was saying earlier about him being the tenth gen, lol. but he both is and isn’t. if Deku split his quirk, Kacchan would in theory receive everything that’s currently in Deku’s quirk right now, and that includes Deku’s own power that he’s been adding to the mix. so he’d still have the Deku!Vestige. but he’s also still ninth gen, because he and Deku are sharing that distinction now. or at least I think the argument could be made at any rate.
so yeah. I’ve been obsessing over all of this for the past few days lol. what do you guys think?
Naruto's Great Shinobi Wars— aka, Masashi Kishimoto's fucked-up timeline
So. The Great Shinobi Wars are a mess and a half.
Assuming that the ages given in the official databooks makes sense and that Kishimoto is consistent in his character design when it comes to indications of age (neither of which have proven to be reliable metrics but we gotta start SOMEWHERE), let’s work backwards.
It’s implied that the Third Great Shinobi War ends around the time that Minato became the Fourth Hokage, because of why Hiruzen stepped down: to take the blame of ending the unfruitful campaign and accepting the sunk cost rather than continuing to throw resources into pursuing the war further (which is what Danzo and presumably a fair number of people wanted). Therefore, the Third War had to have ended before Minato and Kushina died and Naruto was born.
Okay, so Minato was probably the shortest-reigning Hokage of all time. Weird, but not that weird.
We also know that the Third Shinobi War only ended after Kirigakure kidnapped Rin and stuffed the Three-Tails inside her à la Trojan Horse, which occurs several months after the Kannabi Bridge mission featured in Kakashi Gaiden, which in turn takes place when Kakashi is 12. Considering he's listed as age 26 going on 27 in the events of Part One, this event must have happened about three years before Naruto was born.
But the war couldn't have ended before Itachi at age 4 was brought along by his father Fugaku to witness the carnage of a battlefield. Since he was 5 when Sasuke and Naruto were born, that means the Third Great Shinobi War didn’t end until after the 9th of June in the year before Naruto’s birth.
The real question is, how long did the war last?
With the new NARUTOP 99 one-shot, Naruto Gaiden: Whirlwind Within the Vortex, we get this one crucial panel.

Kakashi only met Gai once they enrolled into the Academy, and neither of these three kiddos have forehead protectors [hitai-ate] in this image. We know that Kakashi entered the Academy at the age of 5 and graduated as a genin at the age of 6, and that Kakashi is 26 going on 27 in Part One of Naruto. Therefore, Whirlwind in the Vortex must take place around two decades before Part One.
That said, nowhere in this one-shot is it explicitly mentioned which war is being fought. We only know that the conflict involves Konoha and Iwa on opposite sides, which is true of the Third War, yes, but is by no means specifically unique to the Third War. Guess this scene needs to be tabled.
Okay, so what else happened during the Third War? I guess Ao steals a byakugan from a member of the Hyuga clan. Sasori was out there doing something— likely fighting a defensive front, going by his Red Sands moniker. The Third Tsuchikage reluctantly accepts a peace treaty between Iwa and Konoha delivered by the older Ino-Shika-Cho trio with the Fourth Kazekage supervising (because they're doing it somewhere along the border to the Land of Wind for some reason), with a major contributing factor to his decision being the retreat of a thousand Iwa-nin after Minato said "It's flashin' time" and Yellow-Flashed all over those guys a while before that. The Third Raikage was killed after fighting for three consecutive days in order to cover the retreat of his troops against a large force of an unknown nationality, but most likely either Konoha or Iwa, considering the geography and what little we know of political tensions between the villages. Some time before this, Minato encounters the then-future Fourth Raikage and Killer B and proves himself faster than the lightning cloak by out-speeding them using the Flying Thunder God.
Great. Fantastic. Doesn't tell us anything about when the Third War actually started. Does the wiki have anything?
Because of a decline in national power, the reign of the Five Great Shinobi Countries was crumbling. Along their borders, skirmishes with smaller nations broke out all the time. The prolonged conflicts gradually spread their flames far and wide, until at last it developed into an all-out war.
Fuck's sake, fine, let's also table that. What about the Second War?
Believe it or not, we actually have even less about this one. Sure, there are a lot of major players involved— the Ame orphans were found by the Legendary Sannin and eventually trained by Jiraiya, said Legendary Sannin got their moniker from fighting Hanzo, Hatake Sakumo probably earned his moniker as the White Fang and killed Sasori's parents during this time, Chiyo was having her poison-vs-cure production contest with Tsunade, Tsunade's lover Kato Dan dies (likely fighting Iwa, based on the nature of his injury), and Tsunade's little brother Nawaki dies. It's also highly likely that Kumo's attempt to kidnap Kushina happened around this time, seeing as Minato and Kushina were both Academy-age, aka no more than twelve years old.
And of course, we know fuck-all about everyone's ages at this time— except for Sasori.

This is Studio Pierrot's character reference sheet for the young Sasori that we see in the flashback after his parents have been killed. Now, I know this image isn't of great quality, but you know what his height is listed as? Either 115 cm or 118 cm. I'm willing to bet that Sasori was intended to be around 6 or 7 years old, here, i.e. 28 or 29 years before his appearance in Shippuden whereupon his age is listed as 35. Doing a bit of arithmetic reveals that this would have been 11 to 12 years before Naruto's birth. This lines up with Minato's age— he and Kushina were both still in the Academy when Kumo tried to kidnap Kushina, aka no more than 12 years old, and we know that Minato died when he was age 24.
Okay, so now we're getting somewhere! The Second Great Shinobi War ended at the earliest around a dozen years before Naruto's birth, and the Third Great Shinobi War ended about a year before that. How about the First War?
This is my favourite one to talk about, actually, because of the sheer chaos of it. This is the war in which the hidden villages realized they maybe shouldn't keep sending their leaders out onto the battlefield because you know what happened? So many fucking Kage died, and their militaries were left scrambling in the wake.
The Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama, is implied to have croaked last among all of the Kage who did die— killed by the Gold and Silver Brothers (or at least the platoon that the two were infamous for having led). Second Tsuchikage Muu assumes it was Tobirama who reanimated him and his three peers during that one scene during the Fourth Great Shinobi War, after all.
The Second Tsuchikage and Second Mizukage killed each other, which is weird if you consider how far away the Land of Earth and the Land of Water are from each other, but... eh.
The First Raikage died sometime before the failed attempt at a peace treaty between Kumo and Konoha, because it's the Second Raikage who's depicted next to Tobirama in this panel addressing that:

Likewise, the First Tsuchikage Ishikawa, First Mizukage Byakuren, and First Hokage Senju Hashirama must have all died prior to the above events. The only one who we don't know for sure died in this war is the First Kazekage Reto, but come on. Reto is listed to have been age 58 at the time of his death, and Kishimoto clearly drew him with those lines around his eyes that he tends to only give characters who are 30 or older. Considering all the other First Kage died in this war and the twenty years of peace that supposedly followed, I think we can say that Reto did as well.
The war's outbreak plunged the world into a chaos not seen since the end of the Warring States Period, for which reason there are very few records about the war. According to Ōnoki, the war was a result of countries and their hidden villages taking resources from other countries and other hidden villages; Madara Uchiha's demand that Iwagakure be subservient to Konohagakure is implied to be the first such example of this.
The first sentence from this excerpt implies that there was a period of peace following the founding of the hidden villages, before the First Great Shinobi War broke out.
Now we have our basic information! Wonderful! Let me toss together a basic timeline using this info and see what we can do about the gaps.
[Year 1]
Konohagakure is founded.
Because of course they were the first hidden village, right? At least, we're never given any indication that there was another before them that Madara and Hashirama were inspired by, so long as you ignore anime filler. The feudal lords [daimyo] of nearby nations would logically have felt threatened at this unity of what had once been splintered, scattered clans of shinobi, now working together for Fire's feudal lord and stronger for it, so the order for shinobi to unify is given out in other lands as well. It's very likely that the countries which ended up being part of the Five Great Nations were the first five to do so while the rest scrambled and lost land to this new, stronger system of fighting forces. We can also assume that Uzushio was another of the earlier ones, due to the formation of their allyship with Konoha under Uzumaki Ashina and Senju Hashirama's leaderships, respectively.
The Warring States era ends.
[Year 3]
The future Third Tsuchikage, Onoki, is born as the grandson of the First Tsuchikage, Ishikawa. His age is listed as 79 during Shippuden.
[Year 8]
[10] Chiyo (Sunagakure elder) is born. Her age is listed as 73 during Shippuden, but every single one of her appearances takes place before what would have been her birthday that year.
[Year 9]
[02] The future Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, is born to the Sarutobi clan head Sarutobi Sasuke.
[Year 10]
[01] Ebizo (Sunagakure elder and Chiyo's younger brother) is born. His age is listed as 72 during Shippuden.
[Year 15]
Uchiha Madara (somewhere in his 30s, going off of the lines under his eyes) travels to Iwa to proclaim Konoha's superiority. The then-future Second Tsuchikage Muu and his student Onoki (who is drawn to look around the same age as the Rookie Nine when they first graduate, ergo 12 is a reasonable estimate of age) fight Madara. This is based on both Onoki's flashback and Madara's recognition of Onoki as an established shinobi with a moniker, "Fence-Sitter", during the Fourth Great Shinobi War.

Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashirama (both in their 30s, both with the age-lines around their eyes) clash, seemingly killing Madara and creating the Valley of the End.

[Year 16]
The first Five Kage Summit is held.
In attendance are First Hokage Senju Hashirama and Senju Tobirama from Konoha, First Kazekage Reto and Shamon from Suna, First Tsuchikage Ishikawa and Muu from Iwa, First Raikage A and… A from Kumo, and First Mizukage Yamashiro Byakuren and the unnamed future Third Mizukage from Kiri.
As a gesture of goodwill, Konoha divides the captured tailed beasts to the other nations, based on how much they’re willing to pay: the Three-Tails and Six-Tails to Kiri, the Four-Tails and Five-Tails to Iwa, the Two-tails and Eight-Tails to Kumo. The Nine-Tails is kept within Konoha. It's unknown what happened to the Seven-Tails and when or how it ended up with Takigakure.
Due to Suna having already captured the Ichibi on their own, the First Kazekage demands a plot of fertile land and thirty percent of the monetary value from what the other nations would pay instead of a tailed beast. This enrages several of the other attendees to the point of threatening war, which is not followed through on immediately but gives rise to high tensions between the five major hidden villages.
Sometime around this period, a shinobi from Takigakure named Kakazu (in his 20s) is ordered to assassinate Hashirama but fails. His age in Shippuden is given as 91. I assume this attempt takes place while Madara is out of the picture for whatever reason due to his utter lack of mentioning the Uchiha, because we all know that dramatic bastard wouldn't not fight Kakuzu given the circumstance.
[Year 16≥]
The First Great Shinobi War begins.
We can extrapolate that at the very least, Konoha was fighting Kumo and Iwa was fighting Kiri. Due to the wiki calling this a war over resources and Suna's prior statements during the Five Kage Summit, they were most probably also involved, but to what degree and against who I can't say.
The First Tsuchikage Ishikawa is killed; Muu is instated as the Second Tsuchikage.
The First Mizukage Yamashiro Byakuren is killed; Hozuki Gengetsu is instated as the Second Mizukage.
The First Raikage is killed; A (the First Raikage’s aide during the first Five Kage Summit) is instated as the Second Raikage.
First Kazekage Reto (58) is assassinated by an unknown party for unknown reasons. Shamon is instated as the Second Kazekage. During his reign, Shamon funnels considerable funding into expanding and improving the Puppet Brigade in order to decrease the casualties of Suna's flesh-and-blood shinobi.
[Year 27]
[08] The future Fifth Hokage, Senju Tsunade, is born as the granddaughter of First Hokage Senju Hashirama.
[10] Orochimaru is born.
[11] Jiraiya is born.
[Year 29≥]
First Hokage Senju Hashirama dies to causes that are never revealed in canon. Senju Tobirama is instated as the Second Hokage.
Second Hokage Tobirama and Second Raikage A meet to discuss a peace treaty, but are interrupted by a rebel Kumo faction led by the Gold and Silver Brothers. It's possible that the Second Raikage died during this event— he's really never mentioned chronologically after this point. I assume this meeting took place after Hashirama's death because the Fourth Raikage refers to Tobirama by his Kage title when describing these events in chapter 527 of the manga, but it's also possible that A only did so out of respect and not because Tobirama was actually Hokage at the time. Stick this event wherever in the timeline, I guess.
The Second Tsuchikage Muu (30≥) and Second Mizukage Hozuki (30≥) Gengetsu kill each other in battle. Onoki (20s) and the First Mizukage's unnamed aide from the first Five Kage Summit are instated as the Third Tsuchikage and the Third Mizukage, respectively.
The future Third Kazekage is born.
Roshi, the Four-Tails' jinchuuriki, is probably also born around this time, considering he appears as an adult while fighting Jiraiya and Minato during Naruto Gaiden: Whirlwind in the Vortex.
Second Hokage Tobirama (late 40s, maybe?) is killed. Sarutobi Hiruzen (20s) is instated as the Third Hokage.
[Year 30≤]
The First Great Shinobi War ends.
The Five Great Nations sign an armistice. Note that the First and Second Great Shinobi Wars have been stated by the wiki to reflect the First and Second World Wars from real life, and so does this armistice, which allows for twenty years of peace in accordance to the irl armistice.
Second Kazekage Shamon researches Tailed Beasts with the intent to gain mastery over the Shukaku. It's likely that no perfect jinchuuriki exists at this point in time.
[Year 38]
[03] The future Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, is born.
It's also likely that Pakura of the Scorch Release was also born around this time.
[Year 40] Akimichi Choza, Yamanaka Inoichi, and Nara Shikaku are born in Konohagakure.
[Year 41] [01] The future Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato, is born.
[06] The future Fourth Raikage, A, is born as the oldest and only biological son of the Third Raikage, A.
[07] The eventual second jinchuuriki of the Nine-Tails, Uzumaki Kushina, is born.
[Year 44]
[05] Yashamaru is born. Here's a surprise: he and his sister Karura are canonically NOT twins, although it should be noted that he is the younger of the two.
[Year 45]
The Ame Orphans— Yahiko, Konan, and Uzumaki Nagato— are born.
[Year 46] [05] The eventual jinchuuriki of the Eight-Tails, Killer B, is born.
[08] Namiashi Raidou is born.
[11] Sasori is born. Despite being listed as age 35 in Shippuden, his appearance occurs before his birthday that year, and so I have him as being born in Year 46 instead of Year 47.
Sometime between now and Kushina's succession of Mito as the Nine-Tails' jinchuuriki, Uzushiogakure falls. We know this because of Mito's dialogue with Kushina during a flashback from Naruto Gaiden: Whirlwind in the Vortex in which Mito says that the Uzumaki clan is scattered.

[Year 48]
[07] Shiranui Genma is born.
[Year 50]
The Second Great Shinobi War begins
Many of the minor countries are ravaged as they become battlegrounds for the other Great Nations during this war.
We know that Suna and Konoha were fighting because of Chiyo and Tsunade's back-and-forth. By virtue of the country that Amegakure is located in being a major battleground, Suna and Konoha were also fighting Ame.
Konoha and Iwa were also implied to have been fighting, based on how fearfully those Iwa-nin were referring Konoha's White Fang, Hatake Sakumo, during the Kannabi Bridge Mission from the Third War. Presumably, Sakumo got that moniker during the Second War, seeing as he's likely around the same age as the Sannin and therefore would have been too young to fight in the First War.
The Ame Orphans become... well, orphans. Nagato's parents are specifically killed by Konoha-nin, who mistook them for combatants instead of civilians.
The Second Kazekage Shamon (50s) is assassinated sometime around this era. The unnamed Third Kazekage is instated.
Also, some unspecified time between now and the events o, Uzushiogakure falls.
[03] Ebisu is born.
[10] Sarutobi Asuma is born as one of the Third Hokage's two sons.
[11] The future second or third jinchuuriki of the Three-Tails, Nohara Rin, is born. Shizune is also born, as the niece of Tsunade's lover, Kato Dan.
[Year 51]
[01] Maito Gai is born.
[02] Uchiha Obito is born.
[03] Morino Ibiki is born.
Namikaze Minato (10) graduates from the Shinobi Academy. Jiraiya becomes the jounin-sensei of Team 6, which is comprised of Minato, another male genin named Dekai, and a third ungendered and unnamed genin (who looks suspiciously like a member of the Uchiha clan).
[06] Yuhi Kurenai is born.
[05] The future Fifth Mizukage, Terumi Mei, is born.
[09] Hatake Kakashi is born as the son of the White Fang, Hatake Sakumo.
[Year 52]
Nagato (6) meets Yahiko and Konan (7).
Sasori's parents/Chiyo's son and daughter-in-law are killed by Hatake Sakumo.
[Year 53]
Sasori (7) becomes a genin.
Uzumaki Kushina (12) graduates from the Academy, and Kumogakure makes a failed attempt to kidnap Uzumaki Kushina. I'm putting this event here in the timeline because she has her forehead protector [hitai-ate] during this fiasco in the image below, and also because her shinobi identification number is #007310 compared to Minato's #006510, suggesting that she graduated after he did.

Orochimaru, Tsunade, and Jiraiya (25-26) gain their “Legendary Sannin” moniker through fighting— and being spared by— Hanzo of the Salamander in the minor country where Amegakure is located.
Nagato (7), Yahiko, and Konan (8) meet the Sannin. Jiraiya begins training them. I can only guess that Minato and the rest of Team 6 either got promoted to chunin and have thus officially disbanded or have been ditched for the time being??? We never get a chunin promotion age for Minato, but it isn't out of the realm of plausibility for a genius like him to have done so at or even before age 12. In fact, a lot of young Konoha-nin who have a record of wartime service got their chunin promotions very young (Genma at 13; Asuma at 12; Rin, Obito, and Gai at 11).
[Year 54]
Sasori (8) becomes a chunin.
Maki, the eventual student of pakura of the Scorch Release, is born.
[11] Gekko Hayate is born.
[Year 55]
[05] Umino Iruka is born.
[08] Yamato/Tenzo is born.
Jiraiya leaves the country where Amegakure is located after three-ish years of covert ops and training Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan (10). The three infiltrate Amagakure for further training and networking to start creating Yahiko’s iteration of the Akatsuki, while Jiraiya (28) returns to Konoha and reconnects with one of his old genin students, taking the future Fourth Hokage Namikaze Minato (14) as his apprentice. It's highly likely that Minato masters the Flying Thunder God technique around this time.
[Year 56]
[06] Utakata, the eventual jinchuuriki of the Six-Tails, is born.
The events of Naruto Gaiden: Whirlpool in the Vortex takes place. Told you we'd come back to this! Remember, Kakashi was born in Year 51, so by mid- to late-spring (considering the Japanese school year starts in the spring, not autumn), he should be familiar enough with Gai and Obito for this manga panel to be plausible.

Meaning Minato is 15 when he, Jiraiya, and the rest of Team 6 encounters Iwa's two jinchuuriki. Although they end up retreating, Minato becomes inspired by the Tailed Beast Bomb to create the Rasengan.
So now we know that this one-shot takes place during the Second War! But you know what's also implied to happen when Kakashi is age 5?
Yeah, Sakumo's thing.
Konoha's White Fang chooses to save his squad rather than complete a mission that he deems likely to fail, and upon his return, is ostracized for it. Sakumo commits seppuku in order to restore his (and by extension, Kakashi's) honor before his son even graduates from the Academy. And then—
The Second Great Shinobi War ends.
[Year 57]
Hatake Kakashi (5, going on 6) graduates from the Academy in March.
[Year 58]
Kakashi (6, going on 7) gets promoted to chunin.
[Year 58≥]
The Third Great Shinobi War begins.
Essentially a continuation of the Second War, the Third seems to many almost like fighting for fighting’s sake. We once again have Konoha vs Iwa, Konoha vs Kumo, and Konoha vs Kiri. Sasori fighting a defensive front on his home soil (based off of his Red Sand moniker, ie enemy blood spilled on the sand) suggests conflict with either one of the minor countries, Iwa, and/or Konoha. I think there's a hint of Iwa vs Kumo, too, but I can't find a source for why my brain thinks that outside of speculation. If we go by an anime filler statement from Pakura during a flashback (episode 285), Suna was also fighting against Iwa and Kiri, which may explain how Suna and Konoha ended up as allies by the time of the events of Part One— the enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that.
According to said filler, this should also be around the time that...
Pakura was sent on a mission to stop Iwagakure's plans during their feud with Suna. She successfully accomplished the mission and was hailed as a hero by the village.
Also, Namikaze Minato has an encounter with the future Fourth Raikage, A, and the jinchuuriki of the Eight Tails, Killer B some time early on in this war, presumably before Minato gets his genin team based on their absence in this scene. Minato's Flying Thunder God proves to be faster than A's lightning cloak in combat.
[Year 60]
[02] Hozuki Mangetsu is born as the older brother of Hozuki Suigetsu. I chose to place this event here in the timeline after working backwards from Mangetsu's youthful teenage appearance in his reanimated form from the Fourth War, which doesn't look to be more than 17 or 18 years old. We know that he had to have died after a long enough time to master multiple of Kiri's legendary swords and gain some international renown, but also before Suigetsu ended up as one of Orochimaru's test subjects (because Suigetsu knows that his brother is dead when straight out the gate of his first appearance in Shippuden). Narratively speaking, it would be pretty cool for his reanimated self to be the same age as Suigetsu is during Shippuden, or for him and Suigetsu to have a similar age gap compared to Itachi and Sasuke.
Ebisu (10), Gai (9), Rin (9), Obito (9), Asuma (9), and Kurenai (9) graduate from the Academy, based off of the info found in the databooks. I have no idea what Kakashi (8) has been doing in the meantime (fanon likes to say that he got taken on as an apprentice by someone, usually Minato), but it's only now that this iteration of Team Seven is formed. As for the chunin exams... ugh. We'll get to that in a bit.
[06] Itachi Uchiha is born.
Danzo sabotages the first iteration of the Akatsuki. Yahiko (15) dies. Hanzo of the Salamander is killed by Uzumaki Nagato (15).
[Year -]
Some time between Year 60 and Year 62, a genin team comprised of Gai (10), Genma (12-13), and Ebisu (11) are cornered on a mission by the Seven Swordsmen of Kirigakure: Munashi Jinpachi’s predecessor, Hozuki Mangetsu’s predecessor, Jinin Akebino, Kushimaru Kuriarare, Raiga Kurosuki, Jūzō Biwa, and Fuguki Suikazan. Gai’s father, Might Dai, buys time for the genin to escape and kills all but the last three listed swordsmen using the Eight Gates (in the anime, that is— in the manga, it's implied that he kills all but Fuguki Suikazan, who is the only one that we see chronologically after this point in time during one of Kisame's flashbacks).
[Year 62]
Assuming this first of two chunin exams (recall how chapter 39 of the manga mentions that Konoha holds the Chunin Exams twice a year) is held before the summer, Genma (13), Rin (11), Gai (11), Obito (11) and Rin (11, going on 12) are promoted to chunin. However, this is NOT the chunin exams depicted in the flashback where Kishimoto forgot about his timeline, threw in a bunch of minor characters into the background willy-nilly, and made Kakashi a chunin. In fact, you could argue that any or all of the above-mentioned promotions were doled out for excellent performance in the field, even, aka a field promotion, and nothing would be contradicting you.
Sasori (15) defects from Sunagakure and becomes a rogue ninja. I'm putting this event here in the timeline because Kankuro mentions (in chapter 251 of the manga) that it's been over twenty years since Sasori left. Therefore, the Third Kazekage (30s, based on the age-lines that are drawn around his eyes) is assassinated around now as well. Rasa (24) is instated as the Fourth Kazekage.
[08] Temari is born as the only daughter to the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa (24).
The events of Naruto Shippūden the Movie: The Lost Tower occur at this point in the timeline, since it's stated to be 20 years in the past from Shippuden. Of course, this is a non-canon movie, so it's whatever, but I thought I'd toss this in here for funsies.
[Year 63]
[05] Deidara is born, based on his listed age during Shippuden being 19.
[06] Kaguya Kimimaro is born, based on his listed age during Part One of Naruto being 15.
Team Ino-Shika-Cho (23) delivers a request for a peace treaty to Iwa shinobi on the border to the Land of Wind. Rasa (26) shows up with a large force to facilitate the exchange.
Kakashi (12) is promoted to jounin, and the Kannabi Bridge mission takes place while Minato slaughters enough Iwa-nin for the remainder of the once thousand-strong force to retreat.
[Year -]
The Third Raikage dies from chakra exhaustion after three continuous days of fighting in order to give his troops time to retreat. His son, A, is instated as the Fourth Raikage.
Sometime in between the Kannabi Bridge mission and Minato's inauguration, Rin (13) is kidnapped by Kiri-nin, has the Three-Tails sealed inside of her, and commits suicide via Kakashi's chidori through her chest.
[Year 64]
[05] Kankuro is born as the son of Fourth Kazekage Rasa.
[06] Itachi turns four and is led by his father Fugaku to see a battlefield.
Due to outcry from either withdrawing from the war or agreeing to terms of a peace treaty (with either Kiri or Suna, by process of elimination— you'll see why Kumo's not an option here in a bit) that are viewed as unfavourable by the public, Third Hokage Sarutobi Hiruzen voluntarily steps down from office. Namikaze Minato is instated as the Fourth Hokage.
[07] Hyuga Neji is born.
[11] Rock Lee is born.
The Third Great Shinobi War...
Well, it doesn't end so much as lose steam. This war was noted to be particularly bad in terms of casualties, so I wouldn't be surprised if there simply wasn't enough able-bodied soldiers for a viable war effort at this point. However, it should be noted that Konoha and Kumo still have beef at this point.
[Year 65]
[02] Hozuki Suigetsu is born.
[03] Ten Ten is born.
[05] Akimichi Chouji is born.
[06] Uzumaki Karin is born.
[07] Inuzuka Kiba and Uchiha Sasuke are born.
[09] Yamanaka Ino and Nara Shikamaru are born.
[10] Uzumaki Naruto is born. The Kyuubi is let loose on Konoha by a masked man. Fourth Hokage Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina die while sealing it away.
[12] Hyuga Hinata is born.
[Year 66]
[01] Gaara is born. His mother, Karura, dies. Aburame Shino is born.
[03] Sakura is born.
Sometime around this period, Fourth Kazekage Rasa sends Pakura of the Scorch Release to Kiri as an envoy for... reasons. It's implied that someone (Sunagakure's council, Wind Country's feudal lord, idk take your pick) isn't happy about the terms of the peace treaty that was signed between the Land of Wind and the Land of Water? Either way, Pakura is killed in an ambush by Kiri-nin and dies thinking that her village betrayed her. Suna promptly blames the death of their hero on Iwa, which could be one reason for the hostility in that one scene of a Suna-nin and Iwa-nin butting heads during the very start of the Fourth Great Shinobi War, just before Gaara gives his big speech.

Sorry, I know it's hard to tell here,
[Year 68]
[12] Neji receives the Caged Bird Seal on Hinata's third birthday. A peace treaty between Kumo and Konoha is also due to be signed that very night, only to give way to the events of the Hyuga Affair.
[Year 72]
Rasa orders Yashamaru (27) to test Gaara's control over the One-Tail. Gaara (6) accidentally contributes to his uncle's death, kinda? Suna seems like its economic situation takes a turn for the worse around this time (not that it was ever great), probably due in part to all the infrastructural damage caused by the One-Tail's rampaging.
[Year 78]
[03] The Rookie Nine graduate from the Academy.
[07] The first, second, and preliminary phases of the Chunin Exams take place.
[08] The final phase of the Chunin Exams takes place and is interrupted by Orochimaru's invasion of Konoha.
[Year 82]
Shippuden babyyyyy yeahhh (I am so done with this timeline).

Carrying Gojo-Sensei

i really REALLY love the difference between the neo egoist league's teams dynamic. like,,
bastards are ready to fight each other to the death every single day. they only think about how to devour each other, take someone else's place, and snatch the win with their teeth. it's all about drama and broken dreams. literally mean girls incarnate. isagi lives his y/n era

meanwhile lavinho idk threw a party and adopted bachira. guys in the spanish team just chilling and vibing

chris took the guys' training seriously but still flashed his naked ass to the whole world to see and also felt up every boy in his team. nagi is a baby chick. chigiri asks god every night what he has done that now he has to watch the non-stop soap opera of reonagi's relationship against his will. again

ubers canonically bond over cosmetic products and had a girls night. probably gossiping about other boys in the process. lorenzo is a gold-toothed zombie. he treats barou as his own oversized grumpy hungry cat

and we have yet to see how loki, karasu, and an angel in the flesh nanase survive with shidou and rin being on the same team again

the tragedy of Haibara Yu
“The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long”
– Lao Tzu
The important point of Haibara’s tragedy is not centered on his death, but what his death subsequently caused to two persons he was closest to; Getou and Nanami.
Haibara Yu is first introduced during the Hidden Inventory arc as Nanami’s classmate. They are sent as backup for Gojo and Geto who are escorting Amanai Riko before her merger.

Right on his first appearance, his upbeat going-all-out attitude is emphasized, in contrast to Nanami’s seriousness, as he criticizes how the mission is not fit for their level. In his profile, he is said to have not came from jutsushi family, but has a sister who can see curses. He is also described to be someone who likes people. In addition he really looks up to Getou and that feeling is not completely one-sided.

Why Bachira x Isagi (Blue Lock) is One of the Best Ships of All Time

WARNING: SPOILERS FOR UP TO CHAPTER 86 OF THE MANGA
I’ll be honest and say that while Isagi and Bachira’s dynamic in the first arc was cute, it wasn’t anything that stood out to me too much. It seemed like a very typical sports anime type relationship at first. The main character shoots. His friend is there for him and passes to him so he can shine. They have good chemistry. They achieve results together that would be un-imaginably amazing compared to when they were apart. We’ve seen it so many times before already. Kageyama and Hinata, Kuroko and Kagami, Mihashi and Abe; the list goes on.
That all stops when the second selection starts.

What? A group of weird and charismatic people who do questionable things against the rotten world’s stability and (mostly) die young? I stood no chance.
