Fatal Frame 2:/Project Zero 2: Crimson Butterfly (2003)
Toned down from the first game in almost every way: lower difficulty, less scares, simpler puzzles - you even get a couple of friendly NPCs. But then there's the story: not just more moving parts but layers of intriguing symbolism and tantalising unanswered questions. I'm not sure if I prefer it to the first one, but I can see why this is the fan favourite.
