Sure Enough, No Matter How Many Times He Tried, James Couldn't Convince His Boss That He Wasn't The Almighty
Sure enough, no matter how many times he tried, James couldn't convince his boss that he wasn't the almighty and heroic "Blazing Avenger". However, rather than report him to the authorities, they get a newfound respect for him and promises to keep his "secret". James had no choice to fulfill the role his boss looked so highly of. If they finally realised they were mistaken, no doubt he'd get fired just to run away from the embarrassment of it all. So now whenever the real hero is out there beating the bad guys, James is now actively avoiding the scene to keep the charade going, and every time he writes a report on the latest super villain thwarting, he gets a nod of approval and a small wink. Perhaps this can work out, James thinks to himself from time to time. Putting up with the boss' fantasy has gotten him quite the respect he deserved, and he found it a affordable effort to continue his simple everyday life together.
Your boss at the newspaper company is starting to notice he’s never seen you and the local superhero in the same room together. You’re actually just a terrible employee.

"How much she must be suffering right now." The noble chuckles to himself. "Oh, how she'll regret to have ever crossed paths with me. Perhaps I shall bring her in tomorrow and see her grovel at my feet for mercy." Surely enough, the orphan was brought into his quarters tomorrow and sits directly the other side of the table where the noble was sitting. "Well, how would you describe your few days in my custody?" The noble asked with a smirk as he took a large bite of his own dish. Although, opposed to his thoughts, when he said custody, another meaning came to mind... The little girl remained silent, staring dazedly at her "captor" and the food placed in front of her. It was nothing like the enormous plates of chicken rotisserie and roast beef in front of the noble, but it was far beyond anything she had been eating in her past life. "Oh, no words to speak? Very well. We'll see what you have to say after a month." He said with a malicious tone. Through the month, the "prisoner" was fed, educated, and even dressed finely. All in a way that the noble thought was horrendous by his standards. But for the girl, it was simply paradise. As the month came to an end, the girl was summoned to the noble's presence once more. The noble greeted her with pity, almost as if he came to regret the severity of the "punishment" he bestowed upon this lowly commoner. "Tell me, have you come to regret your actions? Will you beg for forgiveness? If you do, I may reconsider and free you from my clutches." The girl remained silent for a matter of seconds, before falling to his feet, only for her to start thanking him for all the good he has shown. The noble stares in utter horror, shock, and confusion.
As a noble your clothing was ruined by an orphan worker. As punishment you gave her the worst fate imaginable: chores around your mansion, plainest clothing, 3 meals a day, and schooling, which you abhorred.
I lived a life thinking I was on same page as society.

"You don't get it." The sorcerer says in a raspy voice, shivering in the corner of his cell. "You just don't get it. For years, your guild has ridiculed me for my abilities before they finally let the wielders of magic to be free. For years I was mistreated, tortured, beat around, made a fool of, and abused. They only let me go when they realised they can use me. Use me for their greedy desires. All I wanted was to live back then, so I did whatever they told me. And I did it good! I gave them anything they could ever want. I helped them become stronger. I erected entire armies for them. I made them stronger than ever!" "But then they thought I was too powerful for them." He followed in a bitter voice, followed with a cruel coughing episode. He continued talking slowly afterwards. "Called me a threat to society. Cast me away. Put bounties on me. That 'Order of Good Faith' you all so highly regard only treat you so nice because they prefer to use you over someone as capable as me. Soon enough, they'll find better people to replace you all, too. More obedient. Less free minded." The heroes listened in silence. Finally, the mage spoke up. "Listen... I know what has happened to you was horrible, but those days have passed. The Order has since went under new management, and our kind have been accepted in with open arms for a while, now. There's no more need to fight. The people who used to control things are long gone now." "PSH! Do you really believe that?" The sorcerer spat out. "You're either innocently gullible, or plain stupid. You simply cannot rid the world of this corruption by waiting. They need to be cleansed off of the earth. Every single one of them. You're no better. Get out of my sight. GET OUT!" The heroes quietly leave the dungeon as the sorcerer keeps rambling and yelling at them to leave. Each one lost in thought. Maybe- just maybe - they believed that perhaps the sorcerer wasn't entirely wrong. That there really were people in the Order that might not have noble tendencies. But they just didn't know.
The heroes just discovered that the reason the “wicked, omnicidal sorcerer” is so hellbent on destroying “the forces of good” is that “the forces of good” captured and tortured them for fifty years.
