You both had to brush against people in order to get through, but there wasn’t much of an issue. However, it was very loud with the multitude of sounds of laughter, screaming, and yelling.

Until now.

Suddenly, you jolted feeling someone’s arm ram into your shoulder as you were walking. Luckily you had a good grip on your drink otherwise you would have dropped it and sour your mood even more. Normally, you would get annoyed until the person apologized and if it was a genuine mistake, you would have accepted it and moved on. However, this clearly was not the case.

A group of men continued walking past you both, laughing and obviously drunk due to them stumbling around and spilling some of their drinks. Clearly, they didn’t notice that they were hustling along and running into people. 

You glared and opened your mouth to say something but Dwayne beat you to the punch.

“Watch where you’re going.” He said, pulling you closer while glaring at the guy who ran into you. His deep voice could barely be heard but apparently the guy and his friends weren’t that drunk as they heard him clearly. 

The guy returned his glare and stumbled a little closer, “T-The fuck did you say, asshole?” His friends stayed back, too wasted to be his backup during this altercation. 

Even more upset that this guy insulted your boyfriend, you glared, “You fucking heard him, dumbass. Watch where you’re going!” 

During this commotion, everyone within the vicinity was watching while others were steering clear as they continued down the boardwalk. Some people seemed to roll their eyes since fights on the boardwalk were more than a little common, especially with your group getting in trouble frequently. 

His friends laughed while their apparent leader was ticked off from receiving the same attitude that he was manifesting. He tensed and walked a little closer, trying to intimidate you which wasn’t working against you. You were used to going against people bigger than you and you weren't scared when your mate was with you in order to protect you when you needed it. 

“Shut up bitch, your boyfriend needs to put you on a tighter leash!” He yelled.

Your eyes widened and without thinking you removed the lid of your drink and in the next millisecond, the cold beverage went flying into his face. Without missing another second, your palm came next, connecting with his wet face. Due to the force behind your throw and the harsh connection of your palm made the guy back up and gasp in shock.

 “Fuck you!” You yelled.

Before the guy could recuperate, you were shocked when you felt the arm around your shoulder disappear and Dwayne’s fist making contact with the guy’s face, instantly knocking him to the ground. When you were distracted defending your boyfriend, you didn’t notice Dwayne’s eyes darken and a scowl form on his face when the guy insulted you and basically called you a dog that needed to be trained by him. You didn’t need any kind of training and Dwayne loved you just the way you were. Therefore, all he could see was red. Normally, he doesn’t engage in fighting, however when it involves you that’s when his fists go flying. 

Therefore, when he threw the first punch that knocked the guy flat on his ass, he felt prideful that he did that in your honor. The guy’s friends were shocked but in their drunken brains, they needed to find some way to get back at him. When they all decided to try stepping up to him, Dwayne was ready. He matched their stride and only needed to make a few steps with his intimidating stature and hardened eyes that they backed down, knowing that they couldn’t win against him. 

You watched with hearts practically in your eyes, seeing for the first time your mate fighting for you because of a drunk’s stupidity. You didn’t think it was possible, but you felt yourself falling deeper in love with him. 

While Dwayne smirked at their cowardness, he bent down to roughly grab the guy by the collar, that smirk instantly vanished. He pulled the fear-stricken man close to his face and practically growled out his next words, 

“Disrespect her again and I’ll fucking kill you. Painfully.” Without another word, he pushed the guy back down and stood up, instantly wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you away from the scene.

You pressed yourself into his side and smiled, “Baby, that was fucking awesome!”

Without looking down at you, he smirked from your praise, squeezing your waist which helped him ground himself. He didn’t want you to know that when he punched the guy, his eyes were glowing in their monstrous red and gold. That when he pulled the guy close by the collar, he could feel his fangs graze against his own lips, waiting to sink themselves into the guy’s jugular. 

“It was nothing…anything for you.” He muttered, giving your waist another squeeze.

You noticed the two of you were going back the way you came, opposite of where the bikes were located and you turned to him in question.

“Where are we going?”

“Getting you another drink.” He said with a low chuckle, “Seems you lost yours.”
