My family in Gaza is suffering beyond description. The war has left us with no choice but to live in constant fear, between every sound of bombing and the endless showers of bullets. Every day they wake up to the sounds of explosions, and every night they go to sleep hoping for a better tomorrow.

My family has suffered from the loss of security, and the loss of the home that was their shelter. The airstrikes turned everything into rubble, and all that remains for them is memories of their former life. But worst of all is the constant worry for their loved ones, every moment they live in worry for those under the rubble.

Even with all this pain, they have not lost hope. They gather around one table, clinging to each other, and defying the circumstances with their inner strength. They know that there is always light at the end of the tunnel, even if the tunnel is long and dark.

Living in Gaza means fighting for survival every day. But my family is strong, and they know that this ordeal will not last forever. They will remain united, despite all the difficulties, because love and hope are what keep them alive.

I finished wano and was so angry about their design choices that it made me draw OP fanart for the first time in months.

Design notes under the cut!

I wanted Hiyori to look more like Oden, so i made her features longer and Actually gave her Oden's eyeshape since that is. you know. a plot point?

Also very obvious inspiration from Ukiyo-e style woodblock prints bc I think having her be Stunningly Gorgeous And Painting-Like by the beauty standards of the era would have been fun.

I really love her color palette and silhouette so I didn't actually change her design much beyond that.

Momo has his mother's eyes in the same way Hiyori has her father's. Slightly downturned and extremely sweet-looking. I think this reflects nicely the way they each parallel their parents in the story, and the way each parent was important to them.

I made momo a lot smaller. I wanted the visual contrast when compared to Oden. Oden was muscular because he was running around fighting wild boars, but he was also muscular as a representation of him being strong and a capable leader. Momo didn't grow and slowly build strength like his father. Momo is awkward, and lanky, and wearing clothes that are far too big for him because they were never meant to be his in the first place.

In addition, I wanted to soften and round out his features. I wanted him to look just slightly too-young, younger than his body is, because I want everyone who looks at him to have a haunting reminder of the fact that he is a child being forced to awkwardly pilot the body of a man because of the legacy people forced him to take on.

I DID really like his unkempt hair though. I think it was a really nice visual representation of how completely and utterly he does not have his shit together. It makes him look like he was living in a cave for a few years and just rolled out.

And Also Hiyori Should Have Been The Fucking Shogun. For The Record. And She Should Have Killed Orochi By Stabbing Him To Death With A Hair Pin While He Was Helpless Bc Of The Sea Prism Stone Nail. Anyway, Bye.

what if the strawhats had different roles on the ship⁉️ i swapped everyone’s roles except for luffy because i can’t imagine him being anything but the captain

these are loose redesigns since their canon designs don’t really read as their roles all that much to begin with. some extra doodles and ideas for this in the cut !!

nami, vice captain: i took a lot of inspiration from her beta design!! canon nami already bosses everyone around so she fits right into the role. she wields an extendable staff (usopp still makes it for her); she lost her arm over the time-skip like how zoro lost his eye. i LOVE drawing cargo pants and boots, so she ended up with a sorta bottom-heavy design. frankly it’s probably not her style but i like how she looks

zoro, the cook: my foolproof logic is zoro uses swords = good with knives. he does not use katanas to cut produce however, just normal knives. i was trying to go for “sweaty ramen guy” with the towel around his neck. the majority of the shit he cooks would probably be drowned in alcohol. he also wears his bandana the majority of the time now!! it completes the ramen guy look

sanji, the sniper: i also took inspiration from his beta design for this!!! he has guns!! and perfect aim of course. i was going for more of a mafioso look so germa 66 would be like, a mafia organization on top of all the other villain shit they already do. he has two guns but i didn’t draw a holster bc that’s annoying🤞 he lights his cigarettes with his guns. how would that even work? don’t ask me

usopp, the navigator: his artistic talent lends itself to creating perfect maps! he also still tinkers, making nami’s staff as well as having a specialty for compasses. he uses a slingshot still (no perfect aim we gotta nerf him) and shoots weather-related projectiles. his goggles serve as binoculars, they can zoom to several different distances. i drew him in his zou outfit purely bc it’s my favorite one

chopper, the helmsman: he would predominately use heavy point while maneuvering the wheel. i changed his hat up to look more like a sailor’s cap, with an anchor symbol instead of an X. to be honest i don’t have much else bc helmsman doesn’t bring much to my mind :(

franky, the musician: ROCK N ROLL BABY YEEAHHH come on his stage presence is unmatched. he’s still a cyborg, he has instruments all over his body like apoo does but they were installed manually. his personality changes depending on what genre he’s playing but rock n roll is his default B) (ex. classical calls for a refined gentleman)

robin, the shipwright: her devil fruit gives her as many helpful hands as she needs! she developed nami’s arm (definitely installed some random shit she did Not ask for). she has a robot mecha that she’s able to pilot all by herself using clones. i changed her orange sunglasses to goggle eyewear

brook, the doctor: the irony of being nursed back to health by a literal skeleton 💀the irony of being the doctor of the rumbar pirates yet being the only survivor, saving no one from the poison 💀 i went for a plague doctor look! IM VERY HAPPY WITH HOW HE TURNED OUT i was really tempted to give him the plague mask too, but i feel that would’ve changed his appearance too much compared to the others

jinbei, the archaeologist: the shape of this man demands a little pair of round glasses on his face. he’s an intellectual i tell you!!! plus still a fishman karate master. the history of joyboy and fishman island being so intertwined is how he developed an interest in history

No Sympathies Old Demon Concept Art Dump Part 9: And Some Angels Too

By request, I am posting the demon concept art I made for what would eventually become my first novel, No Sympathies. It's art that's over a decade old at this point and kind of hard for me to look at without thinking about its myriad flaws - I'd rework most if not all of these designs now, and even back then I kinda felt like I got a lot better at designing demons towards the end of the batch than I was at the beginning, which made me want to redo the whole project again. Someday I might, too, though probably only as a series of pencil sketches.

But here, for posterity and nostalgia's sake, they are. In this batch, from top row to bottom, left to right:

Today, on my birthday feel good movie marathon, I am beginning with Lupin III: The First.

I am very much a fake Lupin III fan. I know of it, watched a few episodes on Adult Swim (which series I can't say - I know there's multiple, and it was definitely one of the older ones, but Adult Swim just called it Lupin III, so beats me which one it was), and like both how it's incredibly influenced by Western detective and phantom thief fiction while in turn having a tremendous influence on anime, manga, and even Western cartoons. But I'm not super knowledgeable.

Which is why when I say you can love this movie without knowing a single fucking thing about Lupin III, you can trust me. It's an excellent movie, with beautifully and subtly stylized animation and really wonderful characters and direction.

Oh, yes, the direction. It's directed by Yamazaki Takashi, i.e. the guy who directed a little known indie picture called Godzilla Minus One. I knew that movie was going to be the shit the moment it was announced because my man Yamazaki has the fucking sauce in this one, and he'd obviously bring it to Godzilla. Dude knows how to handle international icons of Japanese pop culture.

Watch the opening credits to get a taste of the glory if you haven't yet. It's magnificent.
