Rest easy, Peepee. Thanks for the laughs, sweet cat pics, and for being a perfect little creacher this world did not deserve. đź’›
Eldritch Kenny Concept
This is a thought I had once about Kenny McCormick, of South Park fame.
So, you know how, like, Kenny is the spawn of Cthulu and whatnot? He was conceived in some sort of ritual initiated by a Cthulu-worshipping cult. He can’t die because as the spawn of Cthulu, he is technically an Old One, and only another Old One can kill an Old One.
But I found myself wondering why that ritual was initiated in the first place. Obviously, it must have worked, and I suppose the intent was to bring an immortal child into this world, but what for?
Then I remembered, at one point in the Coon Trilogy when Kenny wakes up in R'lyeh, he makes a comment like, “I feel like I’ve been here before.”
If that’s the case, than it’s probably not that Kenny was born from Cthulu. More like, he already existed and he was reincarnated with a human form.
So Kenny is a Elder God, like Cthulu, not just a kid with his powers, but he doesn’t remember, really. He lost his memory when he was born, or something. He thought, for a long time, that he was an ordinary kid with a freaky “superpower.” But no. He’s actually an Eldritch Abomination in some kind of disguise.
And if that’s the case, the question comes up again, what was he born for?
Well, what if he was born to end the world?
Hear me out. Kenny can’t die, right? And he’s still a little kid, only nine or so. What if, when he reaches a certain age, say sixteen or so, because it’s always sixteen in these kind of stories, he starts developing aditional powers. Tentacles, teeth, the ability to utterly wreck someone’s mind just by letting them see you, the works. And on a certain date after his sixteenth birthday, he’ll take on his true form and end the world, paving the way for the other Elder Gods to conquer Earth or something.
The members of the cult have tried to keep in touch with Kenny’s parents. They say that they still get invitations to their meetings. They probably wanted to know if their plan to initiate Armageddon is working out.
That would also explain why Kenny “dies” all the time. The universe itself is repulsed by his existence. Maybe the universe just hates the idea of something that will end it existing in it. Kenny is a kind of existential brown note, so to speak. So, the universe tries to get rid of him. But only an Elder God can kill and Elder God, so no matter what, Kenny is going to reach that day where he ends it all.
But Kenny isn’t like the others. Is he this way because of the transformation and rebirth or was he always different? We don’t know. But Kenny is selfless. He’s heroic. He cares about people, his little sister for instance, and while he isn’t always nice or responsible, he does try to do the right thing when it really matters. He turned his “curse” into a way to look out for his little sister. Elder Gods aren’t supposed to do any of that. They’re not supposed to be heroic or selflessly brave. But Kenny is different. Kenny is the impossible God.
So, can Kenny beat his destiny and stop himself from destroying mankind?
I dunno.Â
I would have made this into a blog, but frankly I’ve got too many projects as it is, and I don’t feel like I know enough about South Park to do this right. But still, I love the idea.
What do you guys think?
