Lester Sinclair as a Father

Let me start off by saying no punishments. Good behavior is taught. Mistakes are constructively corrected. Bad behavior is not a reason to scream or hit.

Cuddly dad. When his kids are babies and toddlers, he lays them down on his belly for nap time. And he will also cuddle them extra close if they seek out cuddles after a nightmare. He knows how tough nightmares can be, he tells them, but they will always be stronger. Best toddler mattress and cuddler, 10/10.

He wears a kid harness proudly. He makes sure that his baby is extra comfy by lining the inside of the harness with a blanket and leaning back a little so they rest their head against his chest.

He plays with his kid/s. They wanna play dress up? Absolutely! Put him in a princess headband! Put little clips in his hair! No fragile masculinity here.

Speaking of, he raises his kids without gender stereotypes. He lets them dress how they want, play with whatever toys they want, and live how they want. These kids are free to express themselves however they want.

One thing, he is the best at bandaging wounds. Scraped knee or elbow? They're getting it rinsed extra good, ointment, gauze, then a cotton roll on top of that to keep it secure. No bandaids, only stuff that will stay on when you move. Wounds get washed extra good every day and bandaged perfectly.

When behavior needs punishment, the most you’re getting out of this man is a time-out and a constructive talk. He keeps calm and doesn’t lose his shit. Hugs and pizza to make up afterwards. When the kids get older he teaches them that they are responsible for their own actions, so whatever they do, they will have to deal with the consequences themselves.

Proud band dad. Ok, imagine if his kids are band kids. He totally did band in high school. He gives off "skinny kid in the low brass section" vibes. Don't come for me. Maybe a percussionist? One of those two. Anyways, he is the most supportive and loving band dad. He makes sure to go to every band concert. Even early on in their band career and they don't sound too good. Their first Christmas concert made him tear up in pride.

Marching band kids? Heck yea! Lester is gonna go to every competition and help move equipment and chaperone for the band. He's the one cheering the loudest in the stands. He even has throat lozenges in his glove box for the ride home after the competitions.

Theater kids? He's right there to help recite lines and sew up costumes!

Saturdays are for the fam. No, seriously. Each saturday has a theme, a movie on the TV, and pizza ready to go! And there are board games, card games, and if the weather allows, the whole family plays tag outside!

Lester also tucks his kids into bed and reads them to sleep every night. 

Lester lets his kids play in the woods while he works! It also keeps Jonesy company as well! By the time Lester has children, Jonsey might be getting old. So, the kids will take Jonesy to a clearing under the warm sunlight and pet and cuddle her so she can rest. Then they’ll go off and roughhouse once she falls asleep.

Totally plays sword sticks with his kids. You have a lot of laundry to do and a lot of baths to draw at the end of the day. They are going to come home FILTHY.

All in all, you have very precious kids with a very precious dad. And that is a force not to be reckoned with. Lester has enough love in his heart to go around for all of you, and he is so happy. He’s happy because he didn’t know he would be part of a wonderful family like this. And he i so thankful for you being able to make that possible for him.

TWOTHINGS TO ADD THAT EXTRA CREEP FACTOR IN YOUR STORIES

Hello, friend! The thing aboutwriting with “creep factor“ is the fact that different things creep differentpeople out. A person who might be terrified of old porcelain dolls is can becompletely unfazed by masked murderers and vice versa.

Keep this in mind whenever you writescary stories, so that you know that it’s not going to scare EVERYONE. Thiswill help make sure that you’re not overwhelmed or daunted by making your storyeerie, since you know that it’s not going to please all of the people that readit.

With that said, let’s launch intotwo things that will make your scary story even scarier.

1.Setting

Setting is key when it comes tomaking your story extra creepy; a story set in an abandoned mental asylumduring a midnight storm is way scarier than a story set in a pretty garden on asunny day.

However, the setting of your story doesn’thave to be the classic cemetery or haunted mansion. In fact, those settings inscary/eerie stories are so predictable that they’re almost cliche by thispoint.

Don’t be afraid to spice up yoursetting! A part of your story that could make it eerie is that it’s set in aplace that isn’t normally scary but can be under certain conditions.

For example, a nursery school is anice, fun place with happy children, colorful walls and pictures, and arts andcrafts. However, it becomes an entirely different place if you’re locked in atnight and there are children laughing despite the fact that the last studentsleft over eight hours ago.

Places that seem benevolent duringthe day transform at night or during a storm, when the shadows stretch acrossthe walls and manipulate what you see.

What places make the hairs on theback of your neck stand up whenever you’re there? What places only freak youout under certain conditions?

In this case with writing, Iencourage you to draw upon your own feelings. What factors would make aseemingly harmless room turn into a horrorshow? If you get the chills readingover your story, chances are that your readers will too.

Here are some settings/things thatpersonally creep me out and perhaps will creep you guys out, too:

- Long, dark hallways

- Antique mirrors

- Forests at night

- Abandoned paths

- Literally any fucking abandonedplace like highkey get me the fuck out of there

- A room that’s empty except for acreepy thing sitting in the center like a doll or something

- Being alone in dark houses, evenif that house is your own

- Living room with the lights off,nothing illuminating it except the TV that’s showing static

- Stuffed animals that have beenmutilated

- Footprints belonging to no one

- Disembodied voices

- fucking SCAMPERING like holy shiton those let’s plays I shit my pants whenever I hear a littlekid/animal/whatever the fuck skittering around somewhere behind me

- Breathing that isn’t your own

- Old mansions that creak in thewind

- Cemeteries, especially when you’restanding over a grave and expect hands to reach up and grab your ankle

- Deserted streets and alleyways

- Dead end streets lit but nothingbut street lamps

- Empty parks at night

- Houses lit only by candlelight

- Normal rooms but you know someonehas died in there/ there have been hauntings in there before

- Things looking through the window,especially humanoids with glowing eyes

- Footsteps running toward you inthe dark

2.Company

Sometimes, the people within thestory can be the deciding factor on it being creepy. This includes both thevillains, the heroes, and the morally ambiguous peeps in between.

Some people are creepier thanothers, and some people are unsettled by different things, and once again youshould choose what best fits your story and what creeps you out the most. Wouldyou be more scared of an axe-wielding man in a mask standing at the end of yourhallway or two black-eyed little girls holding hands.

Here are some people/characteristicsabout people and creatures that would personally freak me out and may freak youout, too:

- Large, empty eyes

-Open/gaping mouths

- Contorted bodies

- Fast skittering and crawlinginstead of walking

- Stringy hair

- Sallow, shriveled faces

- Sharp teeth

- White eyes/ no eyes/ completelyblack eyes

- Basically look at theillustrations of any “Scary stories to tell in the dark” book and you’ll getwhat I mean

- Suspicious/eerie dialogue
