The thing that pushed stede to make his first kill wasn't hubris - it was that he insulted Ed, insulted what they were to each other, pulled slightly on things Stede has been afraid of - that Ed only wants him because he looks up to him.

And then Ed went and fucking proved his fears right by breaking up with him right as he reached the height of his infamy jfc but stede doesn't understand that's not why Ed did that (not exactly). Ed's commitment issues (to piracy and to them) run very very deep

I love how Stede does EVERYTHING in his power to not to talk about his feelings. Girl would rather live with ugly furniture and clothes the rest or his life than talk about his feelings

I wonder if maybe Stede would reach a breaking point after this or if he would need to be in a more domestic environment to get out of the "just keep going no matter what" kinda survival mode he seems to be throught the whole season
