The Aftermath

Pairing: Steve Rogers x Female!Reader

Summary: You and Steve take a day to relax.

POV: 2nd

Warnings: Mentions of anxiety & depression, a little angst, mostly fluff

Word Count: ~1k

Date Posted: 11/10/20

A/N: Hey y’all! So this is a second part to The Afterparty, you do not need to read that to understand this. I have a few drafts I’m working on so expect something within the next few days. Also, I know everyone goes through anxiety & depression differently but I am somewhat basing this off of my experience because I do not want to incorrectly portray someone else’s experience. Also, three dots after a paragraph means a time skip. I'm such a sucker for soft!steve. Hope you enjoy!

Also, if you are interested in editing and giving suggestions about my writings before I post them, please let me know! I would love to have a second opinion.

Ever since you had joined the Avengers Steve had always been there for you when your anxiety reared its ugly head. And that’s what made him different. He never made you feel like your feelings were stupid or invalid. Instead, he would intently listen to anything you had to tell him and try to figure out whatever would be best for the situation. From cuddling to walking to the ice cream shop, he has done anything he can to relieve you of the stress of life.

You woke up with your limbs tangled with your boyfriend’s and the smell of his cologne from the previous night. After taking a moment to enjoy the tranquil scene, you gently removed yourself from Steve and stood up, taking a moment to admire him.

You walked out of your bedroom with a soft smile plastered on your face. You wanted to do something special for him, you thought as you stepped into the kitchen. With a determined huff escaping your mouth, you rolled up your sleeves and got to work.

. . .

Steve turned over in the bed and opened an eye when he didn’t feel you next to him. He brought himself up onto his elbows and scanned the room. When he realized you weren’t in the room he stood up and put on a pair of sweatpants before calling out your name.

You jumped from your spot at the kitchen island and walked to your room, "Good morning! Is everything ok?"

A tired smile appeared on Steve's face as soon as he saw you, "I should be asking you the same thing, doll."

"I'm better," you shrugged and leaned on the doorframe, "and I made breakfast for you if you're hungry."

Steve brought you into a loose but warm hug. You inhaled his scent, wanting to imprint it into your brain forever. The moment ended after he pressed a kiss to your forehead and pulled himself away.

He walked you back to the kitchen with a loose hold on your hand. The smell of the food made him take a deep breath. You took advantage of his state of bliss to start to make him a plate of food.

"Doll, you didn't have to do this," he nearly whispered to you.

"It's fine, Steve, I wanted to do something nice for you. After this can we go out on a picnic?"

Steve nodded as he took a seat, "Of course." You set a plate of blueberry pancakes and a separate plate of sausage and scrambled eggs on the table.

The male inhaled the scent of food before taking a bite, humming in satisfaction. You took this as your cue to get yourself some food.

Seeing you sit down next to him with your food, he instinctively put an arm around your waist. You smiled as you both ate your food in content silence.

. . .

You pulled a sweatshirt over your head as your boyfriend pulled on a jacket for the cool fall day. Grabbing your hand and a picnic basket, Steve looked at you with a grin. He opened the door for you and you both walked out of your room.

The two of you left Stark Tower hand in hand. People were walking across the courtyard on business calls or trying to drink their overpriced coffee before they officially got into work.

You could almost feel the amount of stress surrounding you, but your boyfriend kept you grounded. Whenever he felt like you were getting overwhelmed he would rub his thumb over your knuckles and a small smile would almost immediately appear on your face.

The utter amount of love you both shared throughout your relationship made your stomach flutter at the thought. Both of you could not believe the luck you had with finding each other.

You both were brought away from your thoughts as you saw your favorite spot in the park; a large cottonwood tree with a gorgeous view of a pond.

The male walked you to the spot and you laid down the blanket you'd tucked under your arm. Once you sat down he carefully placed the basket of food onto the grass and returned to your side.

You had brought a book with you and Steve brought his sketchpad. While you read Steve would always draw you. The first time he told you made you a blushing mess.

"Dammit, Steve!" You cried out as you pushed your red face into your hands.

Steve panicked and threw his papers across the room, "I'm so sorry, I should have asked you but I-" The last thing he saw was his crying girlfriend lunging at him. He closed his eyes in fear, but felt your arms wrapped around his torso. The male opened his eyes to see you looking up at him, eyes brimming with tears.

"Thank you, Steve. I'm really flattered that you would draw me."

And at that moment, Steven Grant Rogers knew who the love of his life was.

You were brought out of your thoughts when you felt the super soldier's stomach rumble, "Do you want to eat now?"

"Do you?"

You frowned and brought a hand to his face, "Don't worry about me so much, love. Now, are you hungry?"

Steve nodded and you moved do you were sitting in front of him. He watched and straightened himself as you brought out a few sandwiches and 2 bottles of water.

You both lazily talked while you ate. At one point you heard Steve squeal, causing you to look up from the food. Turns out an acorn flew and hit his forehead. The super soldier's face went red. With a grin you moved closer to him and peppered his face in kisses until you both were lying down in a fit of laughter.

Once the sun touched the horizon, you packed up, more than satisfied with the events of the day. You left the park with your boyfriend's arm around your waist and a warm feeling in your chest.

The two of you arrived at Stark tower. The courtyard was much less busy than earlier. The employees were leaving the building, with relaxed shoulders and some on calls from their family wanting to know how their day was. Nobody standing near you was completely relaxed, but each had a weight taken off of them.

No one can be at peace without anxiety, you told yourself as you laid in Steve’s arms that night. Without anxiety, peace would be meaningless. No matter what you were going through, you knew he was on your side and you were on his. And that was enough to help you sleep at night.

Dare

Pairing: Steve Rogers x Female!Reader

Summary: As Tony Stark's assistant, you must always expect the unexpected. What you didn't expect was him asking you to play a game with his co-workers.

⚠️Warnings⚠️: Mega fluff, alcohol, brief swearing, embarrassment (idk if that counts but I'm putting it), Tony Stank being a lil shit, Steve being oblivious

Word Count: 1641

Date Posted: 10/20/2020

A/N: Hey! Sorry this is unedited, mostly because I'm writing this at 4 am. But if anyone wants to be an editor shoot me a message. This is my 2nd fic for America's ass, but I do other characters, too! I apologize for the bad pun that Mr. Stank makes, me being very wordy, and the crappy ending.

Hope you all enjoy!

You walked into Avengers tower wearing jeans and a sweater, which was much more different than the usual blouse and skirt you wore on workdays. Even though it was your day off, you received a message from your boss, Tony Stark:

Come to the tower at 7 o'clock sharp, you definitely wouldn't want to miss this. And dress casual ;)

You had shrugged off the strange invite, expecting him to show you a new gadget he and Dr. Banner had produced. But you secretly hoped to see Steve Rogers. You've had a small crush on the super soldier since you began working for Tony, and seeing him often at the tower every day only made it worse. He would give you a smile and wave whenever you passed him in the halls as you strictly kept your head down to hide your flustered expression.

As you looked around the entrance you saw the star spangled man jog towards you after hoping off the last step of the stairs. He wore a dark blue button up shirt, black pants, and that smile that made your heart swell. Before you could walk away and pretend to be there for a different reason he waved at you. Because you were raised to be a polite person you waved back, and that was your downfall. Now he knew that you saw him so you would have to talk to him.

After mumbling a string of curses to yourself, the male was now standing in before you, lightly panting, “Hey, Y/N, Stark sent me to bring you up to the living quarters for game night.”

You quirked an eyebrow, taken aback, “Game night? Why would Mr. Stark invite me?”

Steve put his hands in his pockets as a pink hue came to his cheeks, “I’m not sure, but I’m glad you’re here.” You couldn’t tell if his face was red because he ran down the stairs or if your presence had flustered him. Either way you raised a hand over your mouth to hide the dopey smile that was forming on your face.

“Thank you, Mr. Rogers, but we should probably start heading up.” You nervously chuckled. Steve regained his normal posture and stiffly nodded and started walking towards the stairs.

Right as he was about to take the first step up he felt you put a soft hand on his shoulder and froze. “Why don’t we take the elevator? Its probably quicker,” you smiled at him as you spoke and gestured towards the elevator.

“That would be good but the elevator is out of-” Steve was cut off by the sound of the nearby elevator door chiming. He tilted his head in confusion as he recalled what Tony had told him.

. . .

“Y/N is here,” Tony announced, smirking at the super soldier and patting him on the shoulder, “would you mind brining her up, old timer?” Steve held back the urge to roll his eyes and stood up. But before he could make it out of the room he heard the philanthropist call out, “Make sure you take the stairs, elevator’s out of order.”

. . .

You chuckled at the man’s expression, “When has anything in the tower not been the way Mr. Stark expected it to be?” Steve shook off the strange  and started walking with you to the elevator. Once inside, you both looked around the small space in an awkward silence.

When the elevator stopped a few stories up, one of your coworkers, Derek, walked into the space and stood between you and Steve with a suggestive smirk, “What are you doing here on your day off? Miss me too much?” You chuckled at his antics, he had always play flirted with you. The first time it happened you both laughed and he told you he did it to everyone to make his boyfriend jealous. But Steve didn’t know that.

“Of course, I just had to see you,” you teased with a wink. You saw the playfulness in Derek’s eyes as he wrapped an arm around your shoulders and pulled you into a hug. What you couldn’t see was Steve’s deathly glare towards the other male.

Who the hell was the guy flirting on you, he thought. After the initial frustration passed, his fear set in. Why didn’t you ever look at him that way, he asked himself. Ever since the 40′s Steve was used to ladies picking every other guy over him. Even after the serum, the insecurity stayed with him and turned him into that kid from Brooklyn again.

Derek finally left the cramped space after going up a few more floors. You and Steve continued ascending the tower in a tense silence before the elevator rang and you eagerly followed Steve to the rest of the group.

Tony was the first to greet you. “I’m glad you could make it, I hope capsicle didn’t bore you on the way up,” the playboy said, making you chuckle and Steve blush. “Lucky for us it is my turn to choose the game for tonight,” he stated with a suspiciously excited smile, “come in and take a seat!”

After a few minutes of introductions and small talk, you ended up sitting next to Thor and Bucky. You noticed both of them were slightly shivering but trying to cover it up. Just as you were about to ask him to turn down the A/C, Tony clapped his hands as he addressed the room. “All right everybody, the game that we will be playing tonight is... truth or dare!” Half of the room’s inhabitants groaned while the others rolled their eyes.

Natasha leaned back in her seat and crossed her arms, “That’s juvenile, even for you.” Tony snickered and took a seat, “It was my turn to pick so you guys have to do it. Anyways, who wants to go first?”

. . .

Sam squealed as Bucky dumped a glass of ice down his shirt, "You son of a bitch!" The winter soldier snickered and ran for the door, his friend close behind. You let out a laugh as you continued to shiver under the A/C.

"I believe it is your turn, Stark," Thor exclaimed as he took another drink from his Asgardian mead.

Tony smirked as he glanced at you and faced Steve. "Alright, Rogers, truth or dare?"

Steve sighed, "Truth."

"Come on, you've been picking that all game. But now I have something you certainly don't want me to ask you." Tony gestured towards you, who was now trying to hold back a shiver.

Steve tried to get a word out but ended up dropping his head in embarrassment, "Dare, please."

Tony stood up with a broad smile and spoke almost as if he was speaking to the entire room, "Final answer?"

Steve gave a defeated nod before he spoke again, "Fantastic, I dare you to sit on Y/N's lap for the rest of the game."

The room went silent. You hadn’t been paying close attention but you knew exactly what you heard. Desperate for any kind of way to get out of this situation, you looked around the room to find everyone but Steve looking calm. The super soldier could barely keep eye contact with you when he too looked around for help as his face turned a deeper red.

Both of you ended up laying your eyes on Tony. “Get to it soldier, I mean she’s been freezing the entire game. Might as well be a human torch and heat her up,” he ordered. Steve was about to protest when the other man held up a hand, “We all agreed to the rules so no backing out.”

After a few more minutes of the two arguing about the dare, Steve gave up and walked over to you and did everything he could to not meet your eyes. “I’m really sorry, Y/N. I won’t do it if you aren’t comfortable with-” you hesitantly cut him off, “Its ok, Mr. Rogers.”

After silently debating what to do in his mind, he softly nodded and sat down. The tension was cut by Tony clapping, “Now that wasn’t so hard. Dr. Banner it is your turn next.”

The team went through a few more people before ending up talking, which you and Steve did not notice. You hated to admit it but he was very warm. The man in your lap brought your attention to him when he spoke to you in a whisper, “I’m really sorry. I know you have a boyfriend and I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”

You furrowed your eyebrows, “Boyfriend?”

“The guy from the elevator?” Your eyes went wide before you let out a quiet chuckle. “That was Derek, he is just a friend from work. Plus he is definitely not as warm as you.”

“Well that is good to know.”

“Maybe now you can take her on a date now instead of moping around,” Tony chimed in.

You both looked at the other Avengers before you spoke up, “Did you plan this?”

“Of course I did,” Natasha gave Tony a pointed look, “well I planned most of it and these guys helped, and Derek even did it for free.”

You smiled and felt your face heat up as Steve stood up and sat next to you. He sheepishly smiled before turning towards you, “Is there a chance that you are free Saturday?”

“Only if there is a chance this is you asking me out.”

“Then its a date,” he wrapped an arm around you and the evening continued with the team talking while you and Steve fell asleep on the couch.

. . .

“Tony, Steve’s going to be pissed,” Natasha whispered as Tony took a picture of you nuzzling your head in the crook of Steve’s neck while he had his arms protectively wrapped around your waist.

“Eh, he’ll get over it.”

Pairing: Steve Rogers & Son!Reader

Warnings: Little bit of angst, Steve being a very tired father, Tony Stank being himself, mild swearing

Word Count: ~1.4k

Date Posted: 12/14/2020

Requested: Yes, the request is below

A/N: Hey, peeps! So this was requested by the lovely @slowkib, sorry this is late by the way, love. I hope you still enjoy! Feedback is always welcome.

This one turned out to be a lot longer than I anticipated, I'll make a part 2 and possibly a part 3.

By Your Side
image

Needless to say, Steve Rogers is a great father. The moment his son, Y/N, was born he promised himself he would put him first. Once, when he was 5, he practically had to be dragged by Tony and Natasha onto the quinjet for a mission when the child had a cold. He was devastated to leave his kid sick and alone. Y/N was what kept him wanting to get out of bed every day. Throughout the tantrums, vomiting, and teenage angst, Steve stayed by his side.

. . .

"Hey, dad? Can you throw me my water?" Y/n said from his spot on the mat as he finished his stretches with his aunt Natasha.

Steve tossed him the water bottle from the bench, "How are you feeling today? Is your shoulder any better?"

"A little, but it'll be better by the party tonight."

Tonight was the 80th anniversary of Stark industries, and Tony was getting ready to throw a party bigger than anything he had done before. Needless to say, most of the attendees were terrified. No one truly knew what the CEO had planned for the evening. For once, Tony Stark kept his plans secret.

"Don't wear yourself out," Steve cautioned as he saw his son and Natasha get in their fighting stances.

Within 1 and a half minutes, Y/n was being pinned to the ground. "You need to move more," the redhead spoke up as her nephew stood up with a grimace, "staying in one spot lets your opponent predict what you will do more easily."

The boy nodded and massaged his shoulder, "I'll remember that next time, but for now I'm going to hang out with Wanda."

His father started speaking but abruptly stopped at the sight of his son running out of the gym. The soldier sat back down with furrowed eyebrows and slumped shoulders.

The female sat next to him and put a hand on his shoulder, "He's not a kid anymore, Rogers. Let him live a little."

Steve grunted in response and crossed his arms, deep in thought.

"Well if you are going to be grumpy then at least get a little bit of that anger out and spar with me."

. . .

"Another bad dream?" Y/n whispered as he put an arm around Wanda's shoulder.

She weakly nodded and continued to sob into her friend. "Pietro..."

The boy frowned and turned on the bed so he was facing her. Whenever one of them had a nightmare they would find comfort in each other's presence. Wanda would help him get back to sleep and he would listen to her grievances when she was unable to sleep.

"You know what happened isn't your fault. There was no way of knowing-"

"But I let him leave! I couldn't stop him because I was trying to do what I thought was right and-" her voice broke off and she returned to her place on Y/n's shoulder. The pain of what happened had never really left her, it had only shrunk for a few moments before overtaking her again.

He stayed silent, letting Wanda get out all the words she needed before it was too much. "I was an idiot thinking that we would be fine apart..."

"You did the best you could do in that moment. There was no perfect thing to do, Wanda."

Y/n dramatically slowed down his breathing, encouraging her to follow his action. And finally, she regained her breath. "I just want to get out of here, I don't belong with this team."

"We voth know that is a lie. I know you want to help people and this is the best way to do it."

She nodded in agreement, her puffy eyes not willing to look anyone in the face but much more relaxed. Y/n wrapped his friend in a hug and stayed like that until Wanda was satisfied.

. . .

After a couple hours of calming down, talking about their day, and a tickle fight (in which Y/n lost), the friends were ready to attend the party.

The boy had gone to his room to change and on his way he was met with the sight of his father arguing with the owner of the builder. "He is too young, Tony. Don't even think about it."

"He's an adult. And you can't really control him now, can you?"

Steve growled and took a step closer to the man, "He is still my son and I will not allow him to be manipulated by some reckless billionaire."

Y/n hid behind a pillar when he saw his father walking away from Tony. "Why were they arguing? Did I do something wrong?"

As if he read his nephew's mind, Tony came up next to him and shook his head. "You didn't do anything wrong, kid. Your father is just being a meat head."

Y/n scoffed, "When is he not?"

"He's trying to look after you, and I understand that. But he needs to get the stick out of his ass and realize you are an adult."

Before the boy could respond, his uncle walked off. Y/n let out a frustrated sigh and walked to his room to take a nap.

. . .

After 30 minutes, Y/n woke up with a gasp as he felt himself being dropped onto the floor. Upon opening his eyes he could only see darkness. As he looked around, he could feel jackets on hangers and dress shoes on the floor. “Dad!”

Steve was in his room next door doing paperwork when he heard his son yell. The soldier leaped from his desk and almost broke down the doors on the way to him.

Steve's thunderous steps could be heard by anyone within the floor. He did end up ripping off the closet door and picking up his son, "Are you ok? What happened? Are you hurt? Did-"

Y/n cut him off, "Dad, I'm fine. No need to get yourself worked up."

"Kid, you yelled for me and I thought you were hurt and I-"

"DAD!" The father was brought out of his thoughts by his Son, "I'm fine. Nothing bad happened."

"Then what DID happen?"

The boy was about to answer when he was brought into a tight hug by the super soldier. He returned the gesture with a hum, he didn't know what happened but he didn't care because he was with his dad, his protector.

But did he really need a someone to protect him, he thought. He had trained with the Avengers since he was old enough to fight. He knew what he was doing, so why was his dad so worried? Did he think he was weak or helpless? He let go of his father and took a step back, looking at him through serious eyes.

"Do you think I'm not strong?"

Steve scrunched up his nose for a second, taken by surprise. "What do you mean?"

"Why were you so scared for me? Is it because I'm not as strong as you or anyone on your team?" The boy sneered at the man and crossed his arms.

"Y/n, why would you think that?"

Y/n took a step forward in a sad fury, "I'm not a kid anymore! I'm not some weak child that you can only keep to feel like your worthy of something."

And at this moment, Steven Grant Rogers' heart broke. His son thought he was using him. And he felt powerless for the first time in years.

"Just get out, dad." Y/n turned around so his father couldn't see the tears falling down his face.

Steve stood frozen for a moment, terrified to move and make matters worse. Hearing his son sniffle is what made him move. The thought of his presence hurting his son made him drag himself back to his room. He sat on his bed, his face in his hands as he silently sobbed into his palms.

After his father left, Y/n wiped the tears from his eyes, "You are stronger than this." The male walked back to his closet and pulled out his outfit for the party, wanting to distract his racing mind.

As he put on his top he thought back to when he woke up.why had he woken up in the closet and not his bed? The boy furrowed his brows and put on the rest of his clothing, assuming he had been sleep walking. There was no other logical explanation... was there?
