Saturdays were grocery days. Every Saturday you would wake up, have some breakfast and head to the grocery store with your handy collection of reusable bags. Since it was close by, walking was the more convenient option.

Arriving at the store, you choose a cart and head towards the produce. Within 45 minutes you had picked up any necessary items and headed towards the cashier counter.

It was at that moment that you halted your steps, noticing who was working the counter, Vernon, the new and not to mention super handsome cashier.

You stood in line at the cashier station he was working at. Snapping out of your daydream (of creepily staring at Vernon the cashier) it occurred to you that you had been standing in line for over fifteen minutes, not only you but several other people, some of whom had left for another checkout counter.

What exactly was taking so long?

Cocking your head to the side, you look ahead and find your culprit, Vernon. There he was, scanning the items at a languid pace, boxed items for a long time and produce was a whole other story. His co-workers had to butt in several times to help out, as he was clueless on how to reverse a wrong scanned item.

Nonetheless, you remain patient and wait a couple more minutes as more counters were opened and several people in front left, leaving just you at the counter.

Before starting, he passes you a small but nervous smile and starts to scan the items. Again like the previous times, his co-workers come to his rescue and he mumbles several thanks and apologies and goes back to scanning. The whole process takes longer than expected, but who were you to complain when he looks so cute getting flustered every time he makes a mistake? Finally, with all the items scanned and paid for, he hands you your receipt. Looking sheepish, he thanks you once again for being patient, and wishes you a good day and a goodbye, with another one of his dazzling smiles and a wave.

Your usual Saturdays were quick and ordinary, however, with this new cashier, Saturdays just got a whole lot more interesting.

♡takes your hand between the two of his while you wait outside the restaurant for your reservation. you take it upon yourself to place your lonely hand in his pocket. a chilly night

♡sends pictures of all the food in the grocery cart on mornings you can’t join him, wanting to make sure he chose the right brands bc they taste different. he’s done it enough times to know, but double checks anyway

♡comes over to give you that sweatshirt of his you love before leaving: enough time will pass for the seasons to change, but you chase him to the front door, craving his up close love for as long as you can have it

♡writes your favorite lyrics in his handwriting for your new tattoo

♡you sleep with your hair in braids, and he always finishes the last one when you’re falling asleep. he finds it adorable: the way you hold out the hair tie with your head bobbing up, down and all around, trying to stay awake

♡the way he taps your knee as a silent question for you to stand up and then guiding you onto his lap. doesn’t matter who’s around. your friends. your mother. the person beside you on the subway. and you always coax his hands around your waist as if he wouldn’t find them there on his own
