Vanya Hargreeves: the pasty white girl who was abused!!! And HAD IT WAY WORSE THAN EVERYONE ELSE IN THE FAMILY (she thinks so anyway), who we’re all supposed to feel bad for. A nice girl, but ultimately very white bread. Plus her only motivation or interest is….. herself. :) Acts like she never takes up too much space or talks about her childhood trauma but then the minute she gets the opportunity she GOES OFF about it and blames it for all her problems, while also blaming her siblings who were kids at the time, and makes it very clear that she is the only one who has ever experienced pain and mistreatment. We’ve seen her before… pretty much any movie with a lead character is a girl in middle school…

VS. Allison, her confident (yet not always!) and outspoken POC sister who has an incredibly complicated past (both childhood and adult), and also a lot of childhood trauma but never overtly expresses it. Her relationships with all of her siblings are rich and intriguing. AND she is actually interested in reconciling torn relationships by atoning for her past mistakes and apologizing, rather than bitching to everyone about how she had it the worst or even telling them about her trauma at all. She and constantly puts others before herself, and her primary motivation is her daughter.

In short: Why Vanya slits Allison’s throat and all the pasty and uninteresting white girls with a victim complex say, “eh.”
