Quick! Someone Tell Me This Is A Bad Idea.
Quick! Someone tell me this is a bad idea.
I just wrote a script for a short comic in my head about feminism, and now I want to write comics about feminism.

My main advice would be to make sure they’re funny.
That was the general idea, yes.
(Generally I'm a bit mystified as to why people think feminists are humorless. I think we're pretty hilarious, but I might be biased.)
One of the projects I'm excited about right now is co-writing an adventure for Darkening Sky, an anthology of adventures to be published by White Wolf for their Dark Ages tabletop lines. (I'm working on an adventure for Dark Ages Vampire.)
And I'm pretty excited, because it's a chance for me to do something that reflects the diversity that actually exists in medieval Europe instead of all of the whitewashed crypto-Europe you see in so many game titles. But then I see shit like this - this awful official art for the Malkavians in the new LARP book. And I'm like... really? Really?
How many awful stereotypes can you cram into one image? Female = crazy? Female and vampire = scantily clad sex object? Crazy = sex object?
It's tough, because shit like this makes doing stuff for WW kind of a losing proposition. I'm excited for Darkening Sky because I get to try to do a thing that won't perpetuate the same old awful. But it's going to be embarrassing even being peripherally associated with crap like this, because a lot of gamers aren't aware of the nuances of subcontractors, et al. They just see "White Wolf" as a monolithic thing.
Yes. This.
People saying “you only blog for attention” like alright you got me but what the frick are you blogging for? the great starting salary and dental plan?? ? ?
The problem with trying to save money
is that it inevitably leads to heartbreak, anger, and much swearing.
Currently, I am attempting to implement a webstore through my website so I can sell prints through my website without having to host a store separately. In order to avoid paying the extra $8 a month that Squarespace wants to use their webstore software, I'm attempting to integrate a webstore service that charges a flat per-transaction fee into my website.
Have I been able to get it to work? OF COURSE NOT.
Now I'm swearing undying vengeance on bits of code. So, that's a thing.
Like oh my god, for real. I love all this hand-wringing and pearl clutching coming from the same assholes that wrecked the economy, stole all the money, shipped our jobs to China, and then wonder why we're "putting off adulthood". Maybe because we're poor and have no career prospects. Jerks.
