Its Really Dumb That Children At Are Taught At Such A Young Age, That Expressing Themselves When They

It’s really dumb that children at are taught at such a young age, that expressing themselves when they are not comfortable is bad. I was born in America, but my parents, more specifically my father, were very traditional people since they immigrated to America in their early twenty’s. They were both born and raised in Vietnam. I don’t know what it is about the culture, but everyone is hiding problems from everyone else. It’s ridiculous. 

Throughout a good portion of my childhood was filled with bullying. It could be because I was Asian and different (My classmates were mainly Caucasians and African Americans.). It could have been because I was too shy and intelligent. No one ever told me, “Hey, if you’re having problems with another classmate, come talk to me.” As a matter of fact, when I tried to express my discomfort, I was also called a tattle-tale or a snitch. In my mind, I thought it was already bad enough that I was being picked on, I don’t need more people to hate me because I’m a tattle-tale. And people may not realize it,  but children are cruel. They are, by far, the cruelest human beings I have ever had the displeasure to encounter throughout the short span of my entire life (This may be exaggerating just a bit and not all children are like this, just the one’s I’ve encountered.). Some of the things they said to me hurt my self esteem and made me insecure about myself. Have you heard of something so absurd? An insecure 2nd grader? I don’t think any elementary school student should feel insecure.

I didn’t want to cause trouble for my parents, especially my mother, because at a very young age, I discovered that it took a lot for my mother or father to come deal with my problems at school. My mother worked like crazy and my father was too lazy to care. So I did what I was taught to do, I kept it to myself and tried to ignore everything. Eventually, I just ignored everything that was bothering me. I had no way to vent my emotions. Eventually I moved away from that state gained more confidence in myself and moved on with my life. But the idea of suppressing my emotions stayed with me for a few more years, until I couldn’t handle the weight of my emotions and broke. Don’t teach kids at a young age to hide their emotions, it might follow them throughout their entire life and cause serious harm to their health. 

And to the parents that ever let the phrase “He’s/She’s __ years old. He/She should know better.” Everyone learns at a different rate, you don’t need to learn a certain set of material by a certain age. Society sets it up that way so it’s simpler. Just like yeahnobutreally said, they don’t just absorb information. That’s not how it works. 

stop the phrase “tattle-tale”. stop indirectly telling kids that if they speak up about someone that’s bothering them, they’re doing something bad. stop contributing to the culture of abuse.

if you are 13 and there is a 17/18 year old showing interest in you: please run away and never look back. i understand that you feel special; that older person will tell you how mature you are and make you feel special. but please. run away from that person. stay away from them. they do not love you. an 18 year old should not have ANY interest in a 13 year old. please. please be safe. please do not let them manipulate you. they are dangerous. stay away from them

ENOUGH

I have had enough. For the first time in my years online I am dissapointed of what has become of this community. I can’t believe that you’ve allowed yourself to be torn apart by the scheming rumors of a few. I can’t believe that you’d ignore the greater cause of why we are here for your own personal satisfaction. I can’t believe that you’d think that I am worth squabbling over.

If you think that this community is about any one individual’s standing over anyone else, including myself, then you are in the wrong place. If you have ever belittled, threatened, insulted, or berated anyone else in the community FOR ANY REASON then you are in the wrong. I don’t even care if you think I’m missing the point of why you’re waging your own personal war. IT ENDS TONIGHT. And more to the point let me ask you one question that you really need to reflect on: Are you making the world a better place? If you want to squabble and bicker about gossip and problems, take it somewhere else. Here. Right here. We build each other up. We never bring each other down. We NEVER threaten each other. We never attack those whose opinions may differ from our own. In this community we hold ourselves to a higher standard to show an EXAMPLE of what a true community should be to the rest of the world. I will not stand for this pointless arguing. I WILL NOT STAND FOR IT. 

And if you think for even one second that I’ll allow this to continue then you are dead wrong. I may want to make the world smile but you can be DAMN sure that I’ll protect what this community represents with my life. We are better than this. We are stronger than this. It’s time to change. And it starts tonight.
