i have a merthur fic idea:

merlin accidentally switched place with his future self. when he opened his eyes on what he thought would be another normal, dull day, he was met with arthur's besotted smile, got thoroughly snogged by the prince, on the prince's bed. by which he realised something is very, very wrong. but he kept his mouth shut. did some investigation, neglecting his duty as the prince's manservant. and then found out uther was very much dead. arthur was king now. and merlin's somehow married to arthur of all people. merlin could barely even stand the prince, he couldn't believe he'd ever marry him. merlin tried to find out how to send himself back to the right reality (bcus he can't believe this truly is how things would end. the destiny of helping arthur, that he can stomach. but does he really have to marry him? gods above hear his prayers!). he was sure he'd succeed much faster if he didn't have to avoid his husband, and the people who behave so familiar with him even though he had never seen their face before, and constantly watch what he said lest he raised some brows. at least here he didn't have to look after a snotty, obnoxious, entitled prince.

future-merlin in the past woke up on his old ratty bed in gauis' chambers. confused and on edge. it had been a couple of years since he left that poor excuse of a bed and joined arthur's soft and fluffly one. first thing first, he complained about his back, finally found out all those backache he got back then weren't only from overworking himself. then he found gauis looking much younger and with more hair on his head than he remembered, who spoke to him as if merlin was still his apprentice. then merlin ran to the king's chambers, only to find uther, sleeping and snoring. he realised something was very, very wrong indeed. merlin tried to find a way to restore the world he knew all the while sulking and brooding and pining after his own husband who wouldn't even look at him twice unless he needed merlin to do something for him. gods above how the hell did he put up with this arthur all those years! can't someone just smite him where he stood!

BBC Merlin - 9-1-1 crossover fic

Merlin is a 9-1-1 dispatcher. He kind of invented the whole thing when he heard of telephones and then kept at it. He figured that when Albion's need was greatest, quite a lot of people would give 9-1-1 a call and therefore bring him closer to his missing King. (Or perhaps when someone found a guy walking out of a lake or smth, Merlin would know where to find him. Needless to say, Merlin had a lot of false calls.)

One day, as Merlin is on a call with a child who's cat is stuck in a tree, a fire suddenly breaks out and a firefighter captain takes over the phone: This is firefighter Pendragon. We have a fire at xxx-xxx, I repeat, we have a fire at xxx-xxx, require additional paramedic units etc. Etc.

For the first time in Merlin's entire career, Merlin is too stunned to react. He quickly catches himself though. "I'm sorry, could you repeat your name, please?"

"This is firefighter Arthur Pendragon, from station 204."

"You mean Arthur Pendragon as in-'

*Long sigh* "yes, as in the famous lawyer Pendragon. Uther Pendragon's son."

Merlin: I meant as in the legendary King Arthur. From medieval history?

Arthur: oh? *Sounding a little less annoyed* maybe? I didn't know he had a last name. I've only seen the Disney movie

Merlin: haha alright. Dispatch x-amount of paramedics now.

Arthur: Don't you want me to ask why I'm not a lawyer? Everyone usually asks me that.

Merlin: No, if you are who I think you are, then this makes much more sense than law school.

Arthur: who do you think I- oh crap, I gotta go. Thanks-

Merlin: Merlin

Arthur: *grins* like the wizard?

Merlin: with the hat and everything.

(originally, I wanted Merlin to then go to the 204 and apply to be their paramedic but this makes a ton of sense to me too.)

We should have gotten an episode in which someone tells Arthur that there was like a cute new barmaid/foreign traveler in the tavern.

Around that time some major events happen around magic which is why Merlin keeps disappearing so much.

Arthur connects the wrong dots and questions Merlin about it. Merlin tells him that it was just a good night with friends (he doesn't know about the new barmaid/traveler at that point). But all those friends say that they haven't been at the tavern that day. Even GWAINE.

So, Arthur goes undercover to spy on Merlin and his little 'date'. It had never bothered him before, but now that Gwaine mentioned something about that new person searching for a partner to settle down, Arthur is worried that Merlin might want to quit his job.

Problem is, the new person also happens to have magic, and Merlin found out and is trying to find out what their intentions are. So, he actually does go out with them once (casually) and they become friends.

Arthur learns that day that he's terrified of losing Merlin.

Arthur: Merlin, I heard you've made a new friend

Merlin: yeah. Sam. They work at the rising sun. I'm trying to help them get settled in. I didn't go there to drink, I promise.

Arthur: hmm... You plan on seeing them again?

Merlin: yeah.

Arthur: Do you like them?

Merlin: you know, I'm not entirely sure yet. Definitely more than you though, haha.

Arthur: *on the verge of panic already* You should be careful. New people in Camelot tend to be sorcerers quite often, you know!

Merlin: ... That doesn't mean they are all evil. Will was a sorcerer, remember? And I liked him very much.

Arthur: *having a complete meltdown* what?!

that one scene where merlin was going through arthur's drawers and when arthur woke up he panicked and said "i'm looking for woodworms" and arthur just gave him an unimpressed look through his sleepy eyes and asked with the softest voice, "...before breakfast?" the way he sounded so unguarded and so vulnerable in that moment. the way he trusts him with his life. do you even understand?? this is the guy that jumps out of his bed at the slightest noise and pulls out his sword. he woke up to find merlin basically in his face and he was unfazed. he felt so safe and so comfortable around him it's actually making me sob
