“There’s only one thing I can say: Can’t wait! Let’s go!” You beamed, gazing at Talbott as the crowd of students cheered behind you. The students’ cheers were deafening, but nothing could drown out the way your heart was pounding.

You gazed at Talbott, taking in the look of pure happiness that was spread across his face. It was rare to see him like this - especially in public; most of his expressive looks were reserved for your private dates. Then again, he had announced to the whole pitch that you were his date, so maybe he was opening up.

Soon enough a broom was in your hand and you had mounted it. You turned to Talbott, extending your hand to him to help him on behind you. Just the contact alone from his hand was enough to send a jolt though your body, but once he’d climbed on and reached for your hips - your hips - you felt like you were about to explode. The way he was holding onto you made butterflies swirl uncomfortably in your stomach.

You’d taken off a few moments later, surprised you were even able to get off the ground with how blank your mind felt. You felt his grip tighten on you as you rose higher and higher, but you really didn’t mind.

“Today…” Talbott spoke, and you turned your head slightly to hear him. “Today was amazing,” he spoke, and before you could even respond, his lips were pressed to your cheek.

Warning: Some cursing, but that’s it?? Nothing as crazy as I usually write lmao

“Hey..” I murmured quietly before I followed him into the owlery. He didn’t seem shocked at my presence. Merely looking behind him partially then going back to the owl in front of him. As if he knew I’d follow him.

Jerk.

I rolled my eyes at his greeting or lack thereof. I closed the space between us, stopping beside him and leaning against the wall.

“I have something of yours.” I spoke softly, looking out the window to avoid eye contact. I could feel his eyes on me immediately. But he didn’t move or say anything at all. So I continued. “A feathered necklace?” I wasn’t exactly sure what it was. Only that I saw it fall onto the floor behind him when he was walking and I just so happened to be behind him.

It was a coincidence.
