New Girl's Toy
Raggedy Andy/Reader
Chapter 1
âSummary: Seeing Marcellaâs love for Raggedy Ann and Andy, the little girlâs grandmother decided to send her another rag doll from her trip to Central America. Upon making it to the nursery, (Y/N) is greeted by almost all open arms, with the odd one of the bunch, Raggedy Andy, still being a bit hesitant of this new toy. After all, why does Marcella need another doll in the nursery? She had enough as it is, and he certainly didnât want to have to put up with another one.Â

âAuthorâs Note: Really excited about this one! As a Hispanic author, I want to do my best with adding some representation in the x reader community. This is very self indulgent, but my best fics usually are. Little note -- Reader uses she/her pronouns.
ââ
Marcella rushed home, excited to play with her dolls after a long day at school. It had been such a long, gloomy, rainy day today that she wasnât allowed to play outside with her friends. The young girl was full of energy. Finally getting to test out her new rainboots, she splashed through the puddles on the sidewalks before she raced up her homeâs driveway. Pushing open the door, she heard her mother call out,
âMarcella, is that you, dear? You got something in the mail today. I set it up in your room.â
Marcella pushed the door shut, making sure to push extra hard so the door would close properly. The door had gotten stuck a few months prior, but wasnât her parentsâ top priority at the moment, so stuck it would stay.Â
âYes mom, itâs me! And thank you!â
Taking off her muddy boots and placing down her raincoat and umbrella in the mudroom, she carefully unzipped her backpack, taking out a ragdoll. Marcella held up her doll, straightening up the dollâs apron and skirt, then fixing itâs red woll hair away from itâs face. She apologized to it for having to ride in the backpack instead of in her arms as they usually did.Â
âI didnât want you to get wet.â She explained. âMother wouldâve thrown you into the wash, and I donât want the same laundry mix up that happened to Andy happen to you, Ann.â
The dollâs eyes glimmered, as if she too remembered when the other doll was thrown into the laundry with starch -- the poor doll was stiff for weeks! After feeling that all was forgiven between her and her doll, she hauled Ann and her backpack upstairs to her nursery. Marcella raced up the stairs, opened the door, and gasped at what lay on her bed -- a bright pink package with a glittery bow. After setting Ann down on a chair next to her brother, Raggedy Andy, she tore open the wrapping paper. She grabbed a pair of safety scissors, tore off the tape, and pulled out a letter. It was from her Grandmother. She read the letter aloud:
âMy dearest Marcella,Â
As you know, I am on a trip visiting the cities, flora, and fauna of Central America. Itâs so beautiful. I do wish you could see it with me, so I included some pictures in the other letter -- itâs in this box. They wouldnât fit in this envelope; there were too many pictures I wanted to send. I miss our Tuesday Tea Parties, but hopefully this gift can take my place at the table until I return. I will return home soon, but until then, give this gift the biggest hug for me.
With love, Grandma.â
Marcella placed the letter next to her on her bed. Growing even more curious than before, she pulled out the present her grandmother sent her. It was a rag doll, similar in appearance to Ann and Andy. She had dark red wool hair, tan, sun kissed skin, a lovely dress, red lips, and rosy cheeks. She had the warmest smile on her face, and her eyes seemed to sparkle.Â
She read the tag: â(Y/N) the Rag Dollâ.
Oh, how much fun she was going to have with her new doll! Sadly, the moment was cut short when she heard her mother call to her, âMarcella dear! I made you a snack! Hurry downstairs, so you can eat it while you finish your homework.â
Â
As much as Marcella wanted to play with the new doll, she knew that she would regret not doing her work when she would have to do it later in the day. After giving her new doll a quick hug, she placed it gently on the bed, grabbed her school bag, and hurried down the stairs.Â
All is silent in the nursery.Â
But only for a moment.Â
The dolls come to life, carefully inspecting the room to make sure Marcella is gone. An âAll clear!â is heard from one of the toys, signaling to the other dolls that itâs safe to move about. Ann excitedly bounces off her chair, hurrying to the foot of the bed with the other curious toys. Andy begrudgingly followed. He didnât feel that he should make a fuss over this new doll, but admittedly, he was a bit curious.Â
From over the bed, the new doll peaked over the covers, taking in her new environment and all the new faces staring at her.Â
âCome on down, dear!â Ann called out to the new doll with excitement. âEveryone is excited to meet you!â
Andy scoffed.Â
âWell, mostly everyone.â Ann added on for her brother, protecting his ego. She giggled at her brotherâs attitude. She knew that he didnât want to seem like the other toys, constantly making such a big fuss, fawning over a new doll, no matter how curious about them he may be.Â
âComing!â The new doll shouted down. âJust clear a space for me!â
The other dolls moved away, but Andy stayed put.
âClear a space?â He scratched his head, confused. âWhy would we need to clear a space--â
The doll jumped off the side of the bed, impacting into Andy with a âthudâ.
The new doll quickly jumped up, extending a hand to Andy.
âI am so sorry, let me help you up.â She apologized, a bit embarrassed at first, but quickly shook it off, placing a pleasant grin on her face. âSo much for a good first impression.â
Andy took her hand, hoisting himself up. âYou know you couldâve just climbed down? Someone wouldâve gone up there to help you.â
âWell,â The doll replied boisterously, dusting herself off, âWhich way seemed more fun, chico?â
âThatâs true.â Andy thought to himself. The fall down did seem much more fun than daintily walking down. Their conversation was cut short when the other dolls began to surround her, frantically making sure she was ok. In the commotion, Andy was pushed to the side. He dusted himself off, crossed his arms, and stomped off. Grumbling to himself, he complained that âNo one asked if I was okay. I couldâa been hurt too, yaâknow...â
Climbing up to the window ledge, he heard the doll introduce herself to the other toys.Â
â(Y/N).â He thought to himself. âI bet sheâll bring nothing but trouble.â
