Im Not Glass, You Know.
“I’m not glass, you know.”
I look over at him and he’s staring at me. I feel my face heat up, “What?”
“I’m not glass,” he repeats.
“I know that.”
He holds out his arm. “Then you know that you can c’mere.” Hesitantly, I scoot closer until I’m flush against his body and his arm is around me.
“I missed you,” I say softly.
I can feel him look down at me. “Yeah?” I can hear the smile in his voice.
“Yeah.”

There are so many languages and so many words to describe our feelings and emotions but sometimes no language can convey what small gestures can. Leaving the last bite for them because they always want it, reading their favourite book or watching their favourite movie just so you guys could talk about it, leaving them notes just to remind how pretty they look while they were busy doing something, doing their least favourite chore for them because they don't like doing it, making playlists for them. It all says I love you without actually saying I love you. I think it's beautiful conveying your feelings and emotions without using words because sometimes words are just words.
Percy at ease

Percy calm, but a little on edge

Percy when mildly angry

Friendly reminder that Percy jackson - our beloved silly adorable seaweed brain - is absolutely terrifying. When he’s angry, when he’s scared, when he’s on edge - he’s not warm and fuzzy.
No other character gets that reaction from people. Jason (the sweetie) is perceived as calm and in control, nico (our favorite self-outcasted outcast) is perceived as solemn and creepy, reyna (girlboss queen slay) is perceived as confident and assertive, and annabeth (our girl) is perceived as fierce, clever, and formidable. They are all intimidating to an extent.
But not like Percy. No. Becasue even when he’s at ease, he’s described as wild and disobedient. And when he’s not at ease, even if just little bit, he’s perceived as powerful, dangerous, and scary. Someone who NOBODY wants to mess with. Nobody even questions his power. One look from him has literal gangs running the other way. One look from him has Leo so scared that he’s literally shaking, and feeling the same innate fright and alarm that he does when jason summons an ear-piercing, earth-shaking, deadly bolt of lighting.
like… HELLO??? can we all just sit on that for a moment?? good lord
One angry look from percy has people thinking one thing: Run.
Percy is, canonically, the character that people find the most frightening and intimidating.
And unless he’s in a good mood - which you better hope he is - the reality is that most of us would be completely terrified of him if we met him.
i started writing at 9. 9 years later i'm almost done with my first book after a year and a half of working on it!
I've noticed that a lot of writeblrs are teen writers.
I am so freaking proud of you.
When I started writing as a teen (13 to be exact), I had lofty goals. And then life happened and I whittled them down to "manageable" goals, "appropriate" dreams.
Don't do that to yourself. I get it, trust me, this mad world we live in is brutal, but you don't have to be. You do not need to be "manageable" or "appropriate". No writer does.
As a 33 year old, I've pulled my dreams out of the abyss, and am now loving my wild, unmanageable writing dreams.
Write what you want, how you want, when you want. Screw the rules.
Write for yourself, for your friends, for the millions of people you dream about reading your stories. Or write for that notebook you'll shove under your bed and never open until you're 23 and wonder "dang, what on earth possessed me to write that?", and then back under the bed it goes (until you discover it when you're 26 and realize "dang, this stuff is good...weird, but good...go past me!").
To any writer, to the teen and young writers (30ish and under) especially, to the writers that feel that they just can't fit into what publishing requires of them: Please keep writing.
You do not need to change. The system does. And the system will never change if we bow to it. So don't change. Be yourself.
Write what you want. Be chaotic. Be kind when the world tells you to be vicious and brutal. Be a titan when society tries to make you small. Mess up, make mistakes, grow. And keep writing. And on the days you can't write (and you will have them), be kind to yourself. It's bloody difficult, but you'll learn and I promise, you'll be a more magnificent writer and being for it.
So again, just so you can absorb it and tuck these words into your heart: You do not need to be "manageable" or "appropriate". No writer does.
i hate having to beg just to receive physical affection. but if i don't i don't receive it and i become majorly touch starved and depressed. i need a bf that i can hug anytime i want fr
if you’re ever having an argument with someone who’s saying that book percy jackson is not a conventionally attractive person, i have the only quote you need.
(i am talking strictly about older book percy, like 17+ percy, but most quotes below describe him at at age 16 and some under)
if nothing is enough to prove to them that percy is attractive…
if annabeth’s huge crush on him from day 1, her saying “he’s good looking” in the demigod files, her constantly saying he’s adorable and has beautiful eyes, isn’t enough for them…
if percy being one of very few heroes sent to calypso’s island, amongst only the greatest heroes, because he’s someone who calypso “can’t help falling in love with”, and when he’s surprised she falls in love with him, calypso says “if you could see your face… of course you.” if that isn’t enough for them…
if nico falling fast and hard for him at a young age, i mean percy was literally his gay awakening, and older nico even calling him “cute” to his face after he’s over his crush, isn’t enough for them…
if piper calling him “cute in a scruffy way” isn’t enough for them…
if rachel badly wanting to date him after not even knowing him long isn’t enough for them…
if reyna, with her standards, immediately making a move on him isn’t enough for them…
if leo referring to percy as a “handsome” guy in HoH, not to mention how intimidated by and jealous of percy he is, isn’t enough for them…
if hazel saying she thought he was a “god in disguise” when she first met him, saying he has an “aura of power” and the “good looks of a roman god,” isn’t enough for them…
if little meg immediately getting a crush on him isn’t enough for them…
if kinzie, one of the amazons, cornering him and then telling him “if you ever need a new girlfriend… well, i think you’d look great in an iron collar and an orange jumpsuit,” (a line i personally found to be… a very adult thing for rick to write lol) isn’t enough for them…
anyway, if somehow they can’t take a hint, and none of that is enough for them
then this is all you need
what is apollo the god of? many things. the sun, light, poetry, music, etc. he’s associated with things of beauty. he’s attracted to true beauty. he admits it many time in his series. apollo is arrogant and full of himself, especially at the beginning of his series. hes extremely judgmental of people’s physical appearances. he will flat out call someone ugly just because they’re not conventionally beautiful. he calls any acne ugly. a little bit of tummy flab is horrendous. his standard of beauty is impossibly high. but guess who he calls attractive? i think you know what’s coming
ladies and gents, i give you a quote form the trials of apollo, book one, the hidden oracle

if APOLLO, with the absolute harshest and most brutal judgement of people’s attractiveness, says that percy is a man of handsome features - not “okay” or “somewhat attractive” but HANDSOME - there is no denying that he is a conventionally attractive character. book percy jackson is, canonically, a very good looking guy.
feel free to comment any quotes about him that i forgot to include :)
