my favorite headcanon of mine is that kushina was itachi’s babysitter and she always wanted to play games with him but she would gO CRAZY AND ITACHI DISLIKED IT AND

The only time Itachi smiles like this, so openly, is this moment from a filler episode. Every time else he's always so reserved as if his facial muscles aren't used to be used to express happiness or even the slightest of joy.

This is one of his "happier" moments because he's spending time with his brother, but his expression of happiness is still so lacklustre as if he can't be more open to what he feels. It's like all the burdens and responsibilities at such a young age had separated him from all the worldly things kids his age should indulge in even more. There's a flashback of Sasuke's memories when they meet after Itachi's death. And even there his smile lacks the feeling of happiness.

Since the whole Uchiha clan is alive and well in Flip The Coin, I decided to feature her, the only sensible Uchiha around. Most of the things I said about Izumi in chapter 5 are canon (expect like she’s maybe not the youngest sharingan user? She just awoke it younger than Itachi and I made that leap cause she deserves it) from fillers and novels, but I’m not actually familiar with it, I’ve just read the wikia. And MY but what a painful read. I mean I’m used to the Naruto girls being treated like garbage, but this was so much worse.

“Believing that ending her life first would quell his inner doubts, [Itachi] proceeded to kill her and her mother first. As he lured her mother away, Itachi approached Izumi and placed her in an extremely powerful Tsukuyomi where she lived the entirety of her life in 0.00000000001 seconds. In her dream, she became a chūnin, retired from shinobi life to become Itachi’s wife and raise their children, and lived to become eighty years old before dying of old age alongside Itachi. Because her mind was departed from reality in such a manner, Izumi collapsed into Itachi’s arms dying. I had to read this with my own two eyes and now so have you. What the fuck. I mean really, what the fuck. And this happened like, late in the manga. REALLY late. Late enough that there had been plenty of butchered female characters in Naruto before and plenty of criticism about it. So how. Why. Why would they do that. Did no one stop to think that maybe this was a terrible idea? The worst thing in that they actually tried to sell this as… tragically romantic? Somehow? My eyes are bleeding.

So it is highly probable (not so say absolutely certain) that her relationship with Itachi won’t get romantic in that fic. He didn’t actually do any of that in there but… Like I can’t do that to her. I can’t. They’ll stay friends though and she’ll help pull his head out of his ass. Hopefully.
