What I really love about how Dusik’s storyline unfolded is that Dusik has BEEN putting in the work towards healing, even before he met Hyejin. So even though we as an audience only got the full story now, Dusik has always been taking the steps towards forgiving himself. It wasn’t a single event or person (thank God they didn’t make Hyejin his rehab center) that enabled his healing. It was a combination of time, space, building new relationships, seeking professional help, trying out new experiences, being courageous with love, having important conversations and ultimately never giving up on himself and the people he cares about.

His inner demon was himself so the only person that could really allow him to heal was HIMSELF and he did it!

I will forever be grateful to the whole Homcha team for allowing his story to exist.

ep 9 spoilers //

i really love how dusik told hyejin’s dad that they weren’t actually dating it feels like in kdramas they usually just leave that misunderstanding until everything blows up or they end up together

I remember back in early-mid trc fanbase days when people were not only underappreciating but actively disrespecting Adam Parrish (UNCONSCIONABLE)… I want to make it clear that I DON’T forgive and I DON’T forget, but it’s also interesting to think about why that was the case? because Adam was literally the saddest white boy like … fand*m usually eats that shit up…

There are a lot of factors at play here (classism most certainly being the biggest one), but looking back at the series itself, I think there was also this distinct feeling with Adam’s character where his background and motivations felt uniquely transplanted from a very adult life into a YA-oriented series, thus placing him at a disadvantage (wrt reader appeal) in comparison to the other characters. Perennial fan-favorite Ronan (whom I also like, don’t get me wrong) is a good juxtaposition here. Ronan’s backstory and motivations also present a lot of very adult problems, but as a character he’s trapped inside of a prolonged stunted adolescence, whereas Adam was simply forced to grow up before his time.

Setting aside his relational issues, which is what most people talk about, I think it’s interesting to look back on how there’s this unique tension between Adam and the actual plot and format of the series, where he’s being pulled (along with the other characters) in the direction of the fantastical, making the deal with cabeswater, getting involved with this absurd magical journey… but he’s also being pulled sharply in the opposite direction, in that he’s grounded in reality in a very specific way that the others aren’t yet.

that is to say… Adam is the same age as the other teenaged characters & thus still close in age to the target demographic, but his day-to-day concerns and his broader outlook differ markedly from his peers, most notably as a result of his class background as well as his abusive home life. So much of Adam’s story is about a particular flavor of alienation under capitalism, and a particular awareness of that alienation (even if he doesn’t use those words)… & I think the fact that the majority of the original active fanbase was like, suburban white teenagers, meant that a lot of the most interesting & nuanced & dynamic aspects of Adam’s characterization got completely flattened out and misrepresented for the longest time

like I said I don’t forgive and I don’t forget LOL
