kinda baffling to think that there are people who saw the episode Rules of Acquisition as simply "we can't have quark be gay so let's throw a savvy woman at him. this is the worst episode so far". first of all, If Wishes Were Horses was like 12 episodes before it and that was pretty bad. second of all, how are you ignoring the clear shang and mulan type shit going on. Rules of Acquisition literally confirmed that quark is in fact attracted to men, even if the man he was attracted to in this episode turned out to be a woman in disguise. how could you watch the scene where pel (while quark still believed she was a man) says "you have a wonderful smile" and quark goes "really~? 🥰" and not think this episode's even a little bit gay and fun actually. do i need to bring out this excerpt of the script from the scene where they first became business partners
