Some say that the Hale pack’s emissary is just a young man barely out of high school. Others say that he’s like the force of nature, unstoppable and uncontrollable. That he would kill for his pack. That he did. They barely scratch the surface though. They don’t see the struggles, the desperate attempts to harness the magic that only brings destruction when his self-control slips. The way the spark inside him shines so brightly when he closes his eyes a listens to the nature around him, whispering to him. After Derek’s death Stiles left Beacon Hills and started training himself in everything supernatural. 

Now he is being told that Derek Hale isn’t dead.

Stiles is going to put his everything into finding Derek and killing whoever is holding him captive.

“We can’t just leave him here to die.”

“He’s an emissary, Scott.” Derek tried to make his tone empathetic, but Scott’s tendency to fight back on everything always grated on his nerves. “His pack is gone, he won’t survive more than a day or two either way.”

“Then we should stay with him.”

Derek sighed as he studied the man for a moment; he was too pale against the fur rim of his hood, almost grey from lying out in the snow, and his cloak was stained with dark dried blood around a protruding arrow shaft. It was unlikely he would even last the night. They would probably be able to carry on in the morning with little time lost, if any.

It wasn’t a horrible idea, Derek decided reluctantly. They hadn’t been able to set up a real camp for a few weeks in the open foothills, and they were all on edge from sleeping in exposed areas. A defensible place to sleep would be good for them, even if they were surrounded by death. They would be able to give the pack proper burials, at the very least.

“Fine. One night,” Derek relented, already moving away to check on Isaac. “He’s your responsibility.”

Stiles knows the fact that there’s a security breach at the White House should be more pause for concern, but it’s hard to muster up any kind of fear when Hale is wearing nothing but soft looking sweats, gun drawn, tattoo and hard muscles highlighted in the moonlight. Hale is always gruff and demanding and Stiles usually can’t stand the guy. But right now, he’s hard pressed to feel anything but slightly aroused and curious as to what the Secret Service Agent would look like in his bed.
