The book you read to Lyca no less than a half dozen times was now discarded somewhere on the floor near the bed. You wanted to do what you could to help him learn to read and write, but he spent most of the time asking about the big red dog and why you even chose a dog book anyway.

Despite his misgivings about your book choices, he was determined to learn. He promised to study over the book later and use the pen and paper you gave him to practice writing. Your heart ached at his willpower and determination. Could you have been this strong if you were him, locked away and mistreated?

Peeking at his sleeping face, you wondered what his future would hold. Would they let him be free? Off campus?

He mumbled something unintelligible, his arm pulling you closer into a warm, safe feeling embrace.

You had to figure this ring's power out soon because your heart wanted nothing more than to protect yourself but also people like the snoring boy who looked so vulnerable, so alone, here lying next to you.

If you had to die, why couldn't it be at the hands of a friend? Someone you cared for and trusted. One last moment together before losing your humanity, your life, forever.

Was that too cruel to ask of him?

There's obviously a lot more, but these are some of my favorite artists. They retweet a lot of art too, so finding even more artists is easy through them! Unfortunately we can't see likes anymore so we probably miss out on a lot of other great artists, but I guess this is a good start - ̗̀( ˶'ᵕ'˶) ̖́-
