ode to green girl
I know a girl who never gives up. She is kind and she is funny, and I am so thankful to have her in my life. When everything goes sideways, she makes jokes and reassures me that I’ll make it out alive. If her heart was an object, it would be a well-loved book, with yellowing pages and a gorgeous inky smell. My friend is small and mighty and I love her because she is full of passion.
Her jokes can bring you to tears, and she is wickedly funny. We stay up sometimes till 3am sending each other memes and laughing until we cry. We make fun of the entitled people at school and I wish we could talk forever. Her chaos is my chaos, her jokes are just what I need to have a good laugh.
The world carries so much magic for her, from Christmas decorations to my sibling‘s mischief. She is full of joy, and even on her worst days i can tell that joy is there beneath the surface of her pain. And I love her for that. I hope she never loses that heart full of joy, it will serve her well in life.
She has done so much for me, from talking to me about love to giving me pep talks when all I want to do is lay in bed. I only hope i have managed to do the same for her. I hope I am the friend she wants, if not always what she needs. I hope, no I know, she will attain the very best in life. For that is what someone like her deserves. This is our first Christmas as friends, and though I wish I could give her something I live 214 miles away. This is the best I can do for my small friend. Merry Christmas, green girl. I love you.
Because the sunset, like survival, exists only on the verge of its own disappearing. To be gorgeous, you must first be seen, but to be seen allows you to be hunted.
