-His name is Sir Duckingworth or Ducky. Dapper fellow. Xipy stumbled on this guy and they both collectively decided they’re adopting him. The top hat came from Corduroy. Many bugs adore this little guy but may not realize hes already taken when they take him for themselves and then see a zombee on the back of a centipede charging in their general direction.

-On that note, Xipy is a textbook gentle giant. Unlike other centipedes such as The Beast this guy is more interested in simply admiring the local tiny bugs. Yeah it gotta eat the occasional seedling, but trust me, they’re fren. It really likes just taking in random little guys it likes, such as Corduroy and Ducky. Definitely does that thing where mother centipede curl around their kids except they don’t have any kids just a bee and an isopod. Really doesn’t bite

-As opposed to Corduroy, certified ‘Zombee Most Likely To Bite Your Ankles’ They are nasty little shit. Running around at all fours and being a local menace. Vi got a soft spot for vir friends Xipy and Ducky, but everyone else Watch Out.

-Corduroy only speaks gibberish cause Fungus Brain but just know half the words they say translate to “FUCK” and other profanities

So uh. @bug-oc semi finals how did we get here.

Currently, the bois are getting swept by the local mad scientist and idk if we can make it this time.But I still got some propaganda for you! Because a while ago I had a funny little idea to give Corduroy in particular some Lore~

So anyways wouldn’t it be fucked up if they had a sister?

This is Coleen! Both being solitary bees, the two siblings didn’t serve a queen. They didn’t have a large colony to support them, it was just him, Corduroy, and the vast Deadlands. The pair’s bond was strong, and thought to be inseparable, that is until the day a storm came, and Corduroy got lost in the winds. For the longest time Coleen thought vi died, and was left to struggle through the wilderness alone. Eventually, she found Bugaria and joined the Explorers’ Association, due to her proficiency in his dual blades, and to have somewhere to live.

Little did he know, on an ordinary exploration in the outskirts near Snakemouth Den, she would find her sibling again

Its them! It’s really them! But oh goodness, what happened to vir. They’re dead, and what is that growing out if them. Her teammate says vir long gone, and to stay away, but Coleen approached them. Its still her sibling, maybe they’re still in there, maybe they sill remember. Do you remember me?

But it isnt them. Corduroy’s dead. They have always been dead, ever since they got blown away towards that wretched cave and was infected. That bee is gone, they’re just a mass of cordyceps desecrating this poor bee’s sibling. They don’t remember her at all, They don’t remember anything. They only know to attack and infect.

So Coleen is left devastated that his long lost sibling can’t recognize her, and Corduroy simply chased him away. Like any other zombee. Thoug after meeting her, they’re left wondering. They recognize that name, the one she called out. Thats the name of the one vir inhabiting, huh. A beloved blue bee who always by her side no matter what

They are Corduroy, they were them, they look like vir. But they can’t remember being them. They don’t know, and it makes Coleen so sad. Shes so sad, why can’t they bee his sibling?

They are that sibling, right?

Sat down and got to finally properly render these fuckers while also settling on how I should draw them. I actually did a tiny bit of research on their respective species, took a few elements here and there but nothing to drastically change them.

So as far as I'm aware, Leif is not a specific moth but plenty of blue and red moths will usually have the eye patterns on their wings and as well as have fluff on their bodies. Had fun with the posing and if you can guess where I referenced it then you get a cookie. Thought it was neat that the original concept was that he was suppose to dance.

Vi is obviously a honey bee, they're very well known to be fuzzy. I don't have much to say besides from that but if anyone doesn't know, only females have stingers.

Now Kabbu was really testing my patience, according to the wiki it states that is he is a rainbow scarab beetle. If that is wrong then too bad, those guys are gorgeous and it took me too long to figure how to balance the colors without burning my eyes. Its faint but noticeable, just so I can still be true to the game model, also I know it's not as visible here but I realize beetle wings are very pretty.

So what's the conclusion here? There needs to be a website dedicated to bug references so I can sit there and admire them all day.

Today, I drew Kabbu from Bug Fables and learned some very important things about art.

Flipping your drawing is actually super good.

Don't make your final line art on the same layer as your sketch like an idiot. (The time I spent cleaning up those artifacts only for several to remain was more everlasting than the sapling.)

Don't rush your shading. I know damn well I could've done a LOT better with that if I didn't automatically resort to trying to get it all over with.

It's probably worth experimenting with arms.

Yes, it's messy. Yes, it was tough to finish because it was messy. Yes, I tried to make it look like he was wearing a hood and then proceeded to change absolutely nothing else. I have now learned my lesson.

I'm. probably going to redo this or something idk.
