Back for some more WEBTOON “reviews”. I feel like I should have a disclaimer that these are all purely my opinions as a NONprofessional. I don’t write or draw comics so I don’t know anything about the technical side, I just talk about how I felt when reading. Anyways, recently I’ve read a couple so I’ll write them all down:

Immortal Weakling (Yaruno/Civen): pretty good! It has an interesting story and art, I’m not quite sure where it’s going yet but it looks to be starting out nicely.

Sword interval (Benjamin Fleuter): this one is finished and I have to say it is an insanely awesome story. It’s a great read and has lovely complex characters and lore/world building. Truly a master piece!

Saint Catherine (brusierkee): this one is great too! I think it’s on a hiatus and so far I’m not sure how far into the story we are, but I love the idea so I think it will be really interesting. Plus the art style is adorable.

Souris (littlemothpants): this one is kind of a reread because it had been a while since I caught up, but I definitely enjoyed it. I think the story is really interesting, it’s one of those zombie apocalypses and while I may be wrong, it feels like the author has found ways to make the world building unique despite the commonality of the zombie trope.

The Witch and the Bull (moonsia): absolutely amazing! I love this story, it is so unique and the world building is beautiful. It really feels like the author put a lot of thought into how the story will build in complexity.

Holy Hell (Marilyn Hightower): this is the final one I’ve finished. I LOVE the art style and I think the story is really interesting so far. I wouldn’t say it’s brand new, but I do think it’s newer, so the full shenanigans haven’t erupted yet, but from what I can tell it’s gonna be awesome.

Webtoon Review Chronicles

I don't know if I should actually be calling these reviews, because i hesitate to say that I am in any way shape or form qualified to critique webtoons. So i guess here is a disclaimer *please take everything said in these "reviews" with a grain of salt. I am not a comic artist myself (yet), and I am definitely basing these reviews on my own opinions, not really much else. Art is subjective, enjoyment is subjective. By all means, enjoy any webtoons you want (as long as youre not hurting anyone or yourself ofc).

Last time I reviewed webtoons on here, I believe I had just caught up to Trinity, a canvas comic by stillindigo. I still cannot recommend that comic enough, but it appears to be on an extended hiatus. :( Anyway, since then, I have read... A fuck ton of webtoons. I actually have a spreadsheet made for all of the webtoons I have started, caught up to, quit on, etc. So I'm not really sure where to start with these reviews, but I guess I'll just start with what i finished most recently.

Candid Hearts (by antlerella): This is a super cute webcomic that was just recently released as an original! I actually read another of the artist's comic (Brass n Sass) and that one was amazing. I think you can definitely see the artist's growth between BnS and this comic. The characters are super cute, and the colors are to die for. There are only 4 free episodes up right now, so I don't have much to say, but I definitely look forward to reading more.

Stolen Siren (by Dustiiok): This is a canvas webtoon about siren/mermaid creatures and its a GL! The story is still in it's earlier stages I would say, but the world building and art so far have been super interesting. I love the author's interpretation of sirens and they draw some really great backgrounds/landscapes. Some of the character development/relationship building feels a little rushed to me, especially between the two MCs. The characters seem to be quick to trust and quick to care for each other, not just from an empathy standpoint, but from a "i will put my life on the line to save you" standpoint, which feels a little forced given the events, but the story and characters are still very enjoyable.

Dame Daffodil (by sakura-rose12): Another canvas webtoon, and another GL! Honestly, I get really excited when I see any GL or sapphic comics on webtoon, no matter the genre or art style, but this one made me extra excited. I'm kind of surprised this comic isnt already an original given the quality of art and the premise of the story, but there are so many canvas webtoons that have incredibly high quality, so i guess it should be surprising. This webtoon has a super cute cartoon style and centers around a sweet hyperactive teen girl who is dedicated to becoming a superhero to save others. At first glance, the story seems shallow and cutesy, and it definitely is cute, but after catching up you will find out that there is more to this plot than meets the eye. I can definitely recommend!

That's all for this post. I think I'll definitely have to start making these posts one comic each since I have so much to say, but I hope people actually enjoy these!

So I put together a sort of TimKon Starter Pack of comics that I think cover the base of the Tim/Kon relationship.

This works best if you have an idea of what’s going on in the universe in general, but I added a little more explanation to this list. A basic reading order is included in the zip. All files are cbr/cbz. Tell your friends, spread the joy, fire up your fic!

TimKon Starter Pack (240mb)

Short TimKon Canon Reading List:

World’s Finest Three #1-2 - Tim and Kon’s first meeting.

[Then comes Young Justice, which is optional because it’s not very shippy but it’s super-cute. Then some angst happens and Young Justice disbands.] (not included)

Teen Titans (vol 3) #1-2, 6, 13-14, 24-26, 32-33- these issues have a lot of Tim and Kon interaction and also cover a lot of important plot points that come up in fanfics.

Infinite Crisis #6 (Kon’s death) (optional, mostly here just to keep up with the plot) (not included)

[After Kon’s death, Tim does not deal well and tries to clone him.]

Teen Titans #37- The culmination of Tim’s attempts to clone Kon.

[Then time passes, Tim continues to be super-angsty and quits the Teen Titans and Batman “dies” and Tim becomes Red Robin and goes on a quest to find him, but Kon comes back to life!]

Adventure Comics #3 - Kon goes to find Tim after he returns.

Red Robin #9 - Kon visits Tim in Gotham (hugs!).

Red Robin #20 & Teen Titans #92 - Tim joins up with the Teen Titans again.

Young Justice reading order 👀

Yeah! This one's pretty simple. If you just read straight down the bolded comics, you're good.

Optionally, you can start with the first meetings between the future members. I've only read some of these, but it's:

Robin Plus Impulse #1

WF3: World's Finest Three (Superboy/Robin) #1-2

Superboy and the Ravers #7 - Kon and Bart

Impulse #28, #41 - Bart and Cissie

And then we get into the actual Young Justice content:

Young Justice: The Secret #1 (1998)

JLA: World Without Grown-Ups #1-2 (1998)

Young Justice vol 1 (1999) #1-2

optional DC One Million tie-in: Young Justice #1,000,000

Young Justice #3-4

Secret Origins 80-Page Giant #1 (1998)

Young Justice: Secret Files and Origins #1 (1999)

Young Justice #5-7

Young Justice 80-Page Giant (1999)

Young Justice #8-10

Young Justice Special #1 - tie-in to No Man's Land

Young Justice #11

Heck's Angels crossover: Young Justice #12 / Supergirl vol 4 #36 / Young Justice #13 / Supergirl #37

Young Justice #14 - tie-in to Day of Judgement

Young Justice #15-19

Young Justice had its own event, Sins of Youth, with a bunch of oneshots for various characters. Honestly just pick the ones for characters you're invested in:

Young Justice: Sins of Youth #1

Superboy vol 4 #74

Young Justice: Sins of Youth Secret Files and Origins

Sins of Youth: JLA, Jr. #1

Sins of Youth: Aquaboy and Lagoon Man #1

Sins of Youth: Batboy and Robin #1

Sins of Youth: Kid Flash and Impulse #1

Sins of Youth: Starwoman and the JSA, Jr. #1

Sins of Youth: Superman, Jr. and Superboy, Sr. #1

Sins of Youth: Wonder Girls #1

Sins of Youth: Secret and Deadboy #1

Young Justice: Sins of Youth #2

And then we finish up the series (with a couple extra notes to keep you up to date on the solos):

Young Justice #20-34

Our Worlds at War tie-ins: Young Justice: Our Worlds at War #1 / optional Superboy #89-90 / Young Justice #35-36 / Impulse #77 / optional Superboy #91 / Young Justice #37

Young Justice #38 - tie-in to Joker: Last Laugh

Young Justice #39-44

World Without Young Justice: Impulse #85 / Robin #101 / Superboy #99 / Young Justice #45

optional Impulse #86

Young Justice #46-55

The team ended with Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day #1-3. At that point, half the members faded into the background and the other half moves over to Teen Titans vol 3, found over in my Titans reading order.

Dungeon Odyssey-webcomic

The descendants of mankind, born in the labyrinth and raised on the milk of monsters, possessed special strength and strong bodies. When they returned to earth, mankind referred to them as dungeon babies. Among them, Kim Jinwoo was born in the deepest labyrinth. “I never tried to become strong, I just wanted to live.” From the lowliest excavator to the king of the labyrinth, his life story is now unfolding This is one of my favorite webcomics out right now as it does thighs just a bit different from other comics as there are no levels just what flower they are from they call them “dungeon baby's” which I feel gives it a realness that other comics does not have. The art style is vary different and brings a fresh feeling to a new story. The parasite is very interesting both in the way it looks and acts, giving the main character a more than human feeling.

Player Who Returned 10,000 Years Later-webcomic

I love to see it when the main character is a strat up bad person and they know it. I think this has a lot of what RETURN OF THE MOUNT HUA SECT has, “helping” others so that they (the mc) can get closer to their goals. The powers that he does keep after returning i think they call them authorities or rights, as they are very different then the skills that they use on earth. The way that the worlds seem to be encroaching on each other is kind of an ass pull. But it makes sense with the rules we learn a bit later.

Player-webcomic

Through posting a "Best Comment", I somehow became the main character of a webtoon! I like how the god figure in this story is active in the story and not just showering the main character with skills and gifts, he is also rather villain-like or like an absent father to most of the ego weapons. The main character is so cool and does not see the rest of the cast as something less than or less human. Evan the rest of the cast is strong and thare

Does anyone have any recommendations for traditional comic book publishers? Or characters they think are interesting? Specifically looking for ones other than DC or Marvel, or at least ones that aren't the usual 'mainstream' ones, but if you want to recommend someone you think is mainstream but still good then I'm 100000% willing to listen!
