Euclydia - Tumblr Posts - Page 2
I see posts of Baby Bill where he talks about the stars and such, and it always bothers me for one reason:
There wouldn't be a word for star in the Euclydian language.
We make words to describe what we know and see. If the stars aren't even a fathomable concept in Euclydia, then it makes no sense for there to be a word for it.
This would mean that when young Billy is asked about what he sees, he would have to describe something that he doesn't have the words to describe it with.
You know I noticed something, and it's the fact Baby Bill is much less equilateral and more isosceles, I even measured him, and Baby Bill is a right angled triangle (and an isosceles).
So we're not sure how similar Euclydia is to Flatland, but the lower class were isosceles triangles, and in the caste system, they were supposed to be soldiers. Another thing to note. In Flatland, they also had medical procedures to 'fix' irregular angles. Which did kill a lot of children.
Of course, Bill could have just grown out of being an isosceles, Vallis Cineris/ Kid Bill looks much more like an equilateral (I did not measure this stage). However, what if he didn't?
What if his parents had waited to see if they would settle into 60°, and when they didn't, made him go through the procedure due to them wanting Bill to have a decent life as a middle class man, not knowing if their child would live or not.
They probably didn't have anaesthesia or painkillers either, so that would have hurt like a freight train on fire.
So, more medical trauma for Bill, yay!!! He definitely needed more of that.
