Hello. Is it possible for you to create a master post of all Solas related audio dialogue you've uploaded? They are so relaxing (painful) to work to. Ma serannas.

me:Ā I havenā€™t uploadedĀ that much Solas audio, have I? me: *looks back at all the audio files Iā€™ve uploaded*me:Ā ā€¦holy crap

Ā Iā€™m just a big fan of voice acting, lmaoā€¦ Gareth David Lloyd is a sweet prince

solas talking calmly for 10 minutes (Iā€™ve been meaning to makeĀ ā€œsolas yelling for 10 minutesā€ one too, because this kind of thing is great for fanfic reference, but I also have more than enough to make several more of him just calmly talking (and itā€™s soothing and easy to make them so I probably will when I need some stress-free task to do))

everything Solas says in elvish (except for one line he says to Mihris that I forgot, whoops)

(spoilers) every single possible line that Solas says in TrespasserĀ

(spoilers)Ā the Negative Responses that Solas will say when he hates the Inquisitor in Trespasser

Solas and Varricā€™s conversation about the Man on the Island

everything Solas says about the Blight

Solasā€™ Journey to Skyhold speech

Solasā€™ reaction if you make him help you kill ancient elvesĀ :ā€™/

my favorite Sera+Solas party banterĀ

Solas and Dorian banter hinting at what might happen in DA4

Solas dialogue that isnā€™t in the final game, that I only found by rummaging around in the files, so you can only really hear it here:

A missing/removed dialogue option for the last romance scene at Crestwood (warning: this is effing sad, and I couldnā€™t believe my ears when I found it)

Solas talking to Morrigan about Mythal!

A cute little line missing from the ball at Halamshiral

Solas calling f!LavellanĀ ā€œlethallanā€

the Inquisitor asks Solas what he knows about the Temple of Mythal (no audio)

more missing dialogue from the Temple of Mythal, featuring Morrigan and Abelas (not Solas dialogue, but interesting) - (1) (2)

also this would probably interest you (not uploaded by me)

Solas loves a lot of things about Isolda, but he does have his favorites. Physically, he loves her bright blue eyes. They are such a rich color and when she smiles they smile with her. He also loves all her freckles. They just look so cute all spattered across her nose!

Mentally, he loves her gentleness and compassion. Her soul is so kind and her heart is so big, he loves everything about it. (It still hurts him in a way. It makes him wish he were a better man.) That, and her curiosity. So many questions! She has a thirst for learning which he shares and admires in another person.

We all know what OUR favorite parts about Solas are. Physically/mentally or both.. Ā but..

what are Solasā€™ favorite things about YOUR Inquisitor? (Romanced or not) what drives him crazy, or what does he adore about them?Ā

Solas and Mythal - A theory

image

Hello everyone, today I would like to talk about Solas and Mythal, in particular regarding their relationship. This is the first analysis that Iā€™m posting on my blog and English is not my first language, so I apologize in advance for all the possible mistakes.

Described as the All Mother, the protector of the people and the spouse of Elgar'nan, Mythal was the most important deity of the Elvhen Pantheon.

In the Elvhen Pantheon, the deities were always somehow releated to each other, even if the legends often give different versions (for example, Dirthamen and Falon'din are described as Mythal and Elgar'nan eldest children and twins in some legends, while in other legends their relationship is described as a strong friendship, with no blood ties, and the same happens with the other Evanuris).

In any case, there are two of the Evanuris who make exception to this rule and are, instead, treated as complete outsiders: Ghilan'nain and Fen'Harel. Ghilan'nain, the mother of the Halla, Ā was a mortal who reached her deity only at a later time, and she was Andruilā€™s favorite.

What about Solas? How did he become one of the Evanuris, and why he was nicknamed as The Dread Wolf?

My theory, is that Solas was a boy of modest origins, probably a slave.

We know that the Evanuris, not really deities but ā€˜ā€™onlyā€™ā€™ very powerful mages, used their claim to divinity to subjugate the other elves, expecially, they had slaves marked probably with Lyrium.

Given Solasā€™ repugnance against slavery, and that he was the leader of the revolution, is not difficult to think that he experienced slavery himself on his own skin.

Mythal was often in the middle when the Evanuris fought each other and the Forgotten Ones. Still according to Solas in Trespasser, she was ā€œthe voice of reasonā€. With her diplomacy, she avoided civil wars to happen and, in this way, innocent people to be involved.

( Codex entry: Mythal, in her wisdom, interceded in an argument between Elgar'nan and Falon'Din. With clever words, she convinced them to settle their grievance through a battle of their champions. Elgar'nan and Falon'Din agreed, and set their champions against each other rather than declare war among the gods. May those knights long be remembered, and Mythalā€™s wisdom be praised). In my point of view, Solas was one of Mythalā€™s slaves, and he wore her Vallaslin. Thereā€™s the famous cryptic phrase said by Cole, that many had already mentioned and theorized about, plus itā€™s possible to notice the shape of Mythalā€™s Vallaslin analyzing the positions of his scars (Yes, I think that the dimple on his chin is so pronounced Ā because it is actually mixed with a scar).

So, how could be Mythal considered as a positive entity, expecially by Solas, if she still had people marked with her Vallaslin? Iā€™ve thought about this many times, and I have come to the conclusion that she could have been a figure similar to Daenerys Targaryen in A Song of Ice and Fire: a respected and powerful woman, protective but fierce, who gave to people who followed her the possibility of choice. To do another example, when Daenerys Targaryen frees the Unsullied, Grey Worm chooses to keep his name. The same could have happened to Mythalā€™s followers: some chose to keep the Vallaslin (like Abelas), while others chose to remove it, like Solas. Ā

Going back to Solas and his ascent to the status of Evanuris, itā€™s possible that he was already leading the rebellion to free the fellow slaves when he was noticed by Mythal, who shared his intent.

In my headcanon, Solas was not only an astonishing strategist despise his modest background, but a talented boy who was always searching for wisdom, hungry for knowledge above all. A quality that Mythal greatly appreciated. So she decided to take him under her wing, she was happy to share her knowledge, and he became her pupil, her general, a friend, and over time, like an adopted child. (There are many connections also in the tale of Andraste and Shartan, that I think is based upon Mythal and Solas, but Iā€™ll discuss it later in another post). Probably, the other Evanuris were frowned upon her predilection for an elf who was considered by them as a barbarian, an outsider. Here comes the insult that Solas took as a badge of Pride: Dread Wolf. The nickname that can be given to a savage, a person who was nothing else then a Watchdog in their point of view (maybe also raised in a ā€˜ā€™small village in the northā€™ā€™ between the wolves? Who knows). In fact, there are many statues of Fenā€™Harel outside Mythalā€™s temples, and Mythal was also the Deity who created the Moon, according to legends. In symbolism, wolves are often depicted howling at the Moon, as a demonstration of loyalty.

So ā€˜ā€™This is the past, what about the future?ā€™ā€˜ Remember - all that glitters is not gold, and I donā€™t think that Mythalā€™s teachings didnā€™t have a price for Solas. I think that his hunger for knowledge was so strong, hoping that this knowledge could be used to help his people (ā€™ā€™ he wanted to give wisdom, not ordersā€™ā€™) that he accepted to drink from The Well Of Sorrows time ago, so heā€™s bound to Mythalā€™s willpower. Thatā€™s why he had that strong reaction if the Inquisitor drinks from the well, thatā€™s why he sympathizes with Abelas - he was like him once. Wisdom in exchange for eternal loyalty, that was the price.

Given the fact that, whatever was Mythal at the times of Elvhenan, now sheā€™s nothing but an entity obsessed by vengeance, Ā I can say that Ā the perspectives are VERY dark. Cross my fingers.

Sorry for the long post, and let me know your thoughts about this. An exchange of ideas is always appreciated,Ā even if inĀ disagreement.

In a way, Solas is kind of a hero. At least to those that follow him, I suspect thatā€™s how they look at him.

Corypheus had followers, but those were created through lies. He decieved people into following him. In Solasā€™ case, I have a hard time seeing him not being at least somewhat open about his intentions.

Something I wonder if we will see is even more discrimination towards elves. Suspicion. How does one know any elf isnā€™t working for Fenā€™Harel?

If weā€™re talking moods for the DA4 concept art Iā€™ve seen, Iā€™m noticing aĀ few things:

- underwater, obviously. Thatā€™s new. With the water in games like Ubisoftā€™s Assassinā€™s Creed Odyssey, we know the technical capability to make water look awesome and swimming be Not Awful is there, even if the game engine is not the same.Ā

- dungeons. Much more a dungeon/ruin mood than DAI, even if there were some. Reminded me of The Decent, maybe.Ā

- Cities! Lots and lots of city imagery. I think this one is the most important one. DA:I had so much wilderness. I love the wilderness, the Emerald Graves, The Hinterlands, The Storm Coast, even the blasted deserts. Val Royaux didnā€™t feel like a real city; the only real city-like feel was Seraā€™s recruiting mission. The vibe Iā€™m getting from the concept art is different. The lady between the tall houses, the flyover, the pan of another big city, the companions? and people in the street (assassination?).Ā

I really, really hope we get some good city level design - which is something I feel the series has lacked in general, you never really had cities that felt lived in, even Kirkwall. Comparing to Assassinsā€™ Creed, even (or maybe especially) older games like Assassinā€™s Creed 2, I think there are lot of possibilities.Ā

Example - it took a Good Amount of suspension of disbelief to think of the market in Denerim as the market place of a large city, the capital.Ā
