Blob Jump Devlog - Day 3
Here we are, day 3 of @myfirstgamejam! Couldn’t make much progress today because dayjob, but I managed to make the main fail state. When you touch a hazard the screen shakes a little and you fall down a la Super Mario Bros.

It shouldn’t restart after death but it will until I make a little pop up with ”Retry” and “Return to overworld” options. However, tomorrow I must make the finish line at the end of the level.
And to all other participants, keep up the good work and don’t give up!
Blob Jump Devlog - Day 4
So, same as yesterday, couldn’t do much. I don’t have a GIF to show today, but I managed to make the main timer for the levels, since beating a stage as quickly as possible is one of the main objectives of the game.
Hope to get more things done tomorrow.
Blob Jump Devlog - Day 5
I can’t believe 5 days have passed already! Today I found a little time to work on a little GUI design:

As you can see I’m a little weak on the aesthetic part, but I think the important part to take from this is the general layout. It shows information you need to know about your progress (time and coins collected) and also displays your action button and yout pause button.
Tomorrow I need to get the “Try Again?” pop-up when you lose. It already feels like I’m halfway done, but when looking at my to-do list reality kicks me in the face.
Not giving up, though!
Blob Jump Devlog - Day 7
So Iwas so excited about the Nintendo Switch presentation that I didn’t even remembered the jam! However, I think that I made a good amount of progress today to compensate.

Things I added:
Timer
Coin counter
Working death pop up (Try Again?)
I made it so the end of the level sends you tothe title screen.
Things to do:
Add results at the end of the level (The more I think how to do it the harder it becomes)
Add pause button and a simple pause menu
Find the most efficient way to design and create levels
And many more!
Blob Jump Devlog - Day 8
This was kind of a productive day! Ifinally got over my fear of messing everything up with arrays and loops, so now the game has a save feature for different goals for every stage!
I also made a Results Pop-up, showing you your time, the coins you collected and the Par time and coins from each stage. As you may guess, you’ll be awarded for completing stages in a certain amount of time, collecting a certain amount of coins and finally for doing both in a single run!
For now the game doesn’t rewards you for beating the Par, since I haven’t designed the levels yet, but that screen does look nice!

To do:
Design at least one level
Do the rewarding at the end of the level
Finish everything from the gameplay screen
Start designing levels
And many more!
Blob Jump Devlog- Day 9
So finally, I managed to finish the general save system of the game! Now everytime you get a medal the information gets saved.
Also, I also finished every gameplay element. For now they will only have a basic enemy, a one-hit-kill-obstacle, a spring and collectable coins.

Things I finished:
The Results Pop-Up
The medal animations depending on wether you already finished that level or not
The game saves your progress!
Things to do:
Design 9 more levels
Make a simple map screen
Make a slightly better title screen
Make a working pause button
Blob Jump Devlog - Day 11
Hey there! I skipped a day of dev because of personal stuff, and I didn’t do mucho today either! I don’ thave mucho to show today, but I can say I made a semi-functional stage select( it show locked and unlocked levels). Tomorrow I work on making it completely functional and the rest of the week I’ll make the levels themselves!

Blob Jump Devlog - Day 12
We’re almost there! Today I tried some crazy thing with the stage select, but failed miserably. However, I managed to finish the screen by doing it the hard way, and now it works!

Things I have to do next:
Design some simple levels
Make a better title screen
Make an ending screen
Add music and sound effects
Also, spoiler alert: there will only be one world. Sorry!
New Project!
So, as much as I loved working on Blob Climb, I don’t have the time or experience to finish it the way I want, so i’m switching projects to something more on my level.
This is Paper Speed!

A simple infinite racer set in a notebook and school supplies world! It’s not the hottest thing around, but it’s something I’m sure I can finish with the limited resources I have.
So that’s it! if you read this then thank you for giving a newbie gamedev a chance!

Classic videogame storytelling

Ditched my last personal project because it really wasn’t what I wanted to make, so I’ve been working on something else for the last month or two.
If you are still following me besides my lack of posts I can’t thank you enough. This little project will be out soon!
They took my dog! Finally released!
So i finished my little project They Took My Dog! After a couple of months I finally got to finish this short platformer!
Download it right here! Feel free to leave a comment, I want opinions!

Just a reminder that this is a very short game, but I think that it’s better that way, since the simple mechanics would grow old quickly. Also, this was made for me to practice and to learn how and when to finish my projects.
After this I will be moving to another short project to broaden my skills, so stay tuned for newgames made by me!

Good news, I’m not dead!
A lot of things happened and a lot of things changed, so I’m not making games as often as I would like, but now I managed to start a new little project, which is untitled as of now.
So thank you so mucho for still following me and please enjoy this spanish rendition of the 2nd DragonBall Z opening by a little NPC.
Cheers!

I hope he loves it 🤍 if anyone knows python/pygame gimme some tips will ya cuz even though i’m doing well i am still a beginner and I’ll take any advice i can get. thank you! also let me know if you want to see the finished project when it’s done 🌅

are you guys having a party without me?
Hi! I was curious about the design of the main character of your game! Is she wearing a mask or is she black skinned?
Neither, her face is just being obscured by a hood (the hair isn't actually connected to her body, it's just part of the cloak). You can also see her arms and tail in some animations.

OMG Shaun’s on Tumblr. They are like the source of the most fundamental GMS resources out there, give them a follow if that’s your groove. Also Pokey Poke is one of the games I’m most excited about.

Still quite a bit of work to do but I'm happy with how this swirly transition effect is coming along. Really helps sell what is happening when you activate one of these statues.
