Okay but like, Ruby's "Stop. Just don't." was so important for other reasons
So, something I've learned over the years, which may be obvious to some people, is that everyone needs support with their depression in different ways.
When I was in high school, I had a boyfriend with horrible depression. I would try to comfort him how I would want to be comforted. By saying stuff like "yeah, the world is dark and hard, but I am here next to you the whole way. So, let's just sit an enjoy each other's company." In the end, what he really needed was someone to say "Cheer up! Things will be okay! Things will get better!"
Getting back to Ruby... this whole show she's both given and been given the "things will get better" pep talk. Obviously its not really worked.
But her "Stop. Just don't." screamed of my own reactions when I am depressed. Which means she doesn't need positivity right now. She needs warmth. She doesn't need reassurance, she need company.
Side note... guess what other character thinks the world is unfair and just wants a companion to hang out with 👀 I'm not saying Ruby and Neo have a heart-to-heart dark moment but... 👀👀👀👀👀👀
