It's entirely possible, but he has a pretty good grasp on how hard he needs to push down to bite through something, so he'd have to be in a situation where he'd not be paying much mind to it. Say, for instance, if he was being tortured and was trying not to scream? Then yeah he could absolutely bite through his tongue D:
