Hanahaki AU

Yuu shrieked at the sight of the flowers spilling from his lips, red staining his teeth as he gave her a hesitant smile.

"D-Deuce! Oh no," the supervisor roughly searched for her handkerchief, hands shaking as they near tore her bag in half. "Oh no, oh no...!"

Grim grunts from his position inside, but otherwise stays asleep, snoring peacefully while his human panics.

The reformed delinquent does nothing but watch in trepidation as Ace laughs from beside Yuu, scowl forming when the brunette continues after seeing the flowers fall from his mouth. "Ace..."

Yuu turns to him with fear in her eyes, tears forming in the corners when he gives her another bloody smile. To Ace she raises her voice, "Ace! Stop that! We have to bring Deuce to the infirmary!"

Laughing still, the heart suit pulls her back. "Woah, woah," steadying the Prefect on her feet, Deuce at his side still bloody from the impromptu confession. "There's no need for the infirmary. Deuce is fine. Right?"

Sighing as he wipes away the blood, Deuce gave Yuu what he hoped was a reassuring smile. "I'm fine really, I just wasn't expecting the roses."

"Yeah," an elbow digs into his side. "Wasn't expecting the roses."

Yuu still doesn't look reassured when Deuce takes a swip at his roommate, eyes dark with warning and intent to maim.

"B-but," Grim turns in his sleep, stilling when Yuu runs her fingers through his fur to calm herself. "Y-you have hanahaki."

Her voice comes out as a whine, and her sobs only grow louder in volume.

"A-ah..."

"Prefect--"

It takes a while, but the two first years are able to explain to Yuu that having hanahaki was normal; it got annoying from time to time, yes. But it wasn't harmful.

No one was going to die.

It didn't mean the end of the world because feelings weren't reciprocated.

It only meant that there were strong feelings involved, and magic found a way to express itself.

"See," said Deuce with a hand rubbing her back. "I'm alive, and I'm not going to die."

"Unfortunately," Ace mumbles under his breath.

"Hah, what did you say?"

"I said," Ace raises his voice so a passing redhead hears. "You're dumb!"

"That's it!"

Yuu sighs as her closest friends wrestled each other into submission. The sound of footsteps has her turning to see the Heartsabyul Dorm Leader darkly eyeing the two first years rough-housing.

She could only sigh fondly to herself when collars flew and yelling was heard across the courtyard.

Just a normal day, I suppose.

(based on the hanahaki au we thought of in @leviskokoro 's discord server. This was born from a sleep deprived college student who hasn't written anything in so long, so please be nice haha.)

(Note: I left the flowers to the readers interpretation, because red roses generally mean love, but yellow roses mean friendship. And there are other roses with different colors and meanings so Deuce's feelings are up to youuu)
