What if Calamity Ganon is the result of Demise's curse sensing that Demise is close to death within the master sword.

What if Breath of the wild was the start of Demise's desperate attempt to escape the sword before Fi could complete her work.

Like....what happened 100 years ago damage the master sword and because it was damaged it had to use it's energy to heal itself instead of working on killing Demise...

The curse itself is acting up in the way it is because it's creator is close to actual death.

[Also Calamity Ganon has not given up on reincarnation in the original text so I'm rolling with that]

So my theory is this.

Fi gets close to fully killing Demise within the Master Sword. The curse, which has had many thousands of years to work and grow, goes nuts because it's creator is almost dead. (It's not sentient, it's just like a weird instinct reaction or Demise himself affecting it)

The master sword becomes damaged enough that Fi must use most of her energy in repairing it, giving Demise time. Fi being broken in Tear of the Kingdom will be Demise, with help from the curse, breaking free now that she is weakened enough.

[Personally I still want to see my favorite villain Ganondorf but this idea wouldn't leave me alone]
